Good but not great

I purchased this laptop over a month ago. At the time this laptop had just been released in stores so unfortunately there weren't any reviews. My initial impressions were that this laptop was great value for the money. But after owning it for a little while there were a few things I didn't like. Firstly this laptop's fan runs a little more than average, and being that the laptop is so small the fan is small and makes a barely audible high-pitched sound. For example in a quiet room I would just be loading a new webpage and I could hear spin up and then die down. But on the bright side this laptop never got too warm doing light tasks such as browsing the web or watching Netflix. Another annoyance was that the bottom cover had some build quality issues. On the bottom left-hand side of the laptop the bottom panel didn't sit flush with the rest of the device and was noticeably sunken in right below the vent. Also when the laptop was sitting on a flat surface the center of the bottom of the laptop would make just barely enough contact with the surface to cause the laptop feet to not sit stationary. Basically the bottom cover ever so slightly was sticking out in the center and the rubber feet were to low-profile to make good contact with the surface. I did look at the display model and it had the same problem I had with the bottom cover not sitting flush and flat. Another iissue I had was light bleed. The light bleed on this laptop was not terrible but it was there. And unfortunately this is common with IPS displays on many of the higher end laptops. The laptop did seem to briefly freeze a lot during normal web browsing on both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge but that was most likely a Windows glitch. After about a month of use the trackpad did begin to sink-in a little on the left-click area and right out of the box the spacebar felt loose. Aside from the negatives there was a lot to like about this laptop. The display looked great and fairly accurate. I has fast performance and the fingerprint scanner worked great. I was quite impressed with the speakers. The speakers sounded nice and full for a laptop though they did not get very loud. The battery life lasted 8+ hours easily with normal tasks. And this laptop had a wide array of ports that are becoming harder to find on a laptop in this form. This Asus is not a bad laptop but I did feel there were too many minor quality issues for a $1200 laptop. In the end I ended up exchanging this laptop for the HP Spectre x360 with identical specs which I am much more satisfied with for a similar price.

Great Compact Laptop

The thing that stood out to me about this laptop was the IPS LCD display and its size. This laptop is about the size of a 14" laptop with it's edge to edge display and very thin for the specs that is has. The keyboard feels great to type on, just wish it had a larger Shift button on the right side (Lenovo compromised the size of the Shift key in order to fit a larger Up arrow key). In my opinion the display is on par with Dells XPS laptops, it definitely stood out among the other laptops on the showroom floor, including Samsung which is known for their displays. The hard drive is a SSD but a M.2 type instead of a standard SATA..I am overal very satisfied with the build quality and performance of this laptop. I would say it's on par with Apple's similar offerings at a much more reasonable price.
I would recommend this to a friend!
