Incredibly versatile & sharp lens

I adore this lens. I use it all the time and find it to be one of my most sharp and versatile lenses. I looked at both the f4 and f2.8 IS variants of this L lens and decided on the f4 because of weight and cost. With today's quality DSLRs, I found pushing the ISO a bit more than covered me for my needs, and the reduced weight made me very happy.
The build quality is excellent and I expect to own this lens fora very long time. The shots are sharp, exhibit excellent color and contrast, and autofocus is fast and precise. The only knock I had, and can't really call it a knock, is that the IS is audible. More so than my other Canon Ls anyway, but not enough for me to not recommend this lens to anyone looking for a fantastic lens that will make them happy with every shot.
What's great about it: Light, sharp, quick focus, great color & contrast, excellent build quality
What's not so great: Audible IS engine
I would recommend this to a friend!

Simply mesmerizing!

I just recently purchased this film on Bluray after reading a intriguing review of it how wonderful both the audio and video experience were. I wish I would have purchased this sooner.
It is simply wonderful. For a movie with no conventional plot, I was enthralled. It is a wonderful experience, and I'd imagine each viewer would take something different from their viewing.
Simply a powerful statement of life on our planet.
What's great about it: Gorgeous visuals and cinematography, powerful view of life on our planet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent pocket camera
on July 27, 2008

Great little pocket camera. Had it with me on a recent trip to Chicago, didn't have my SLR with me. I took a couple architectural tours, one during noon and a very sunny day from the water. I had nothing to prevent direct sunlight from hitting the camera and expected completely washed out shots, I was mistaken. The shots turned out great considering the light.
I love the size of this little bad boy, I wanted something to take with me I could pop in my front pocket. It is perfect, face detection rocks since I am obviously using this mostly for candids with the dSLR doing the landscapes and fancier shots.
It has some fun extra shot options that are fun to play with like color acquire, grabbing 1 to 4 colors you select and shooting the rest in black and white. It also can be set to do this shot and regular color settings with the same shot. Nice.
My only complaint is mild noise in low light and its slowness between shots and after startup. Low light noise is definitely expected for a camera this size, a lens this small just isn't pulling in great light when low. And speed, I saw some other small cameras were faster, but the color clarity and great shots were just too good from the Canon.
What's great about it: Great color, IS, face detection, size, fun extras
What's not so great: Slow startup and 1st shot, lag between shots
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent burner
on July 5, 2008

I've had this product for about a year. I've burned close to 200 single layer DVDs, about 50 double layer DVDs, and I have no idea how many CDs. I've had maybe a handful bad disks. I also have an older Plextor in this machine and a Samsung SATA in my new box. I would recommend any of those 3, if have had few bad burns.
I have found that programs that let you increase the laser strength for the burn are helpful on creating disks to read in shoddy DVD players or in car CD players that can be fickle.
What's great about it: Fast, good burns, works great with program to allow increase laser strength to burn in touchy car or device readers
What's not so great: None

Excellent Keyboard Mouse combo
on July 5, 2008

I got a killer price match from BestBuy to get this product for $70. I set it up initially on XP and it worked great. I got a new PC with Vista Business 32-bit and it worked great there too. Upgraded about 3 months ago to Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and it has nice options for use with Media Center.
I've had the Microsoft Desktop 3000 for a while, and I wanted to move to a Bluetooth combo. I have my PC hooked into the TV and the wireless infrared had spotty connectivity beyond line of sight at times, or outside a couple feet.
The bluetooth connectivity on this device is great, it works from the extreme ends of the room without issue. The mouse sensitivity is great. As with all logitech's the special config of the extra buttons is also great. The keyboard has a nice firm feel and really has been great with Media Center.
I also love the fact that you can turn off both devices to save power. I typically do that and let the device go to sleep. Turning the power on brings the PC out of stand-by which is also nice.
The bluetooth transmitter works great with other deives, I sync my phone and printer with it also. Nice bonus since I didn't have a bluetooth with my desktop prior.
At its normal list I don't know if I'd drop that kind of cash, but having bluetooth rocks. It fit my needs perfectly. Now my PC is more a home media center than ever before and I'm not stuck trying to get clower to the TV just to perform basic tasks.
What's great about it: Bluetooth, excellent mouse response, nice media center options, one\off switches
What's not so great: Tad pricey, like all bluetooth keyboards unfortunately

Are they for real?
By wibbit from NY
This thing is an absolute joke. I was very excited and thought cisco innovated with new technology/hardware to make hd video conferencing possible in the non-business environment, but that is not the case.
1) You need to buy two sets to have a standard two way video conferencing, that's $1200 right out the door.
2) There is nothing new, behind the sleek looking box it's just a hd internet camera, which you can buy on your own at <$150 (for a highend one).
3) It still REQUIRES you AND the person you are conferencing BOTH to have unrealistic high bandwidth internet, which can only be achieved in a dedicated business end to end network (and maybe highest fios package). For most of the home users, you will have the same lag/freeze when trying to do hd video, just like using any other hd camera.
There is no innovation here folks, just same technology repackaged in a nicer box with 5x the price. Dont be fooled. Shame on cisco.

Sorry to say this product rocks

I'm guessing you have not used the telepresence, I have HD webcams, and you absolutely cannot compare the two. It is a high cost item, so certainly don't buy it if that is an issue, but it is like sitting across the table from someone. You can't describe the clarity, absolutely amazing product.

is the c182 plum kodak compatible with windows 7 xp?

Any camera is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, or Win 7. They key, buy a card reader for your SD, CF or Sony memory cards. Many readers will support all these formats and more. They are faster than the camera importing pics and vids, and not dependant on "compatability & driver" issues the camera may exhibit.

Is there a camera with the same features as the Canon PowerShot in a smaller camera?

I go to alot of shows and like to take pictures. I want the Canon PowerShot 8.0 MP but Im afraid it'll be too big to take with me if I just want to take pictures with friends like at the beach. Is there a camera with the same features as the Canon PowerShot only in a smaller camera? And if so should I get the smaller one instead of the big one?
You could take a look at Leica's. They are amazing, will run you more, but for producing the best pics, they are great.
I'm not sure which Powershot you are referring to, but the Canon Powershot 1100 IS is great. Pocket sized and its IS, which would be nice for the beach with all the movement. I've been pleased with mine for a pocket camera.

what does 7.2 mega pixels mean? Is that good or bad?

A megapixel is one million pixels. A pixel is a picture element. So 7.2 is 7,200,000 pixels.
What does that mean to you? The larger the file, typically the bigger the print, or the closer you can zoom, cut, and edit without pixelization.
This is a nice link that equates to picture print sizes bases of pixel count:
http://www.digicamhelp.com/processing-photos/printing/print-size.php
If you don't plan on printing larger pictures, or editing the picture to only print a part, larger pixel counts can mean higher cost.
7.2 is pretty standard nowadays, and I would think a decent enough number depending on your needs.
