Classic movie looks even better

Verified Purchase:Yes
Another classic Disney film is now available on BluRay. The picture quality is the best it's ever been, seemingly as good as the original film. Includes some nice bonus features for background.

Another of Kevin's great touring panels
on November 28, 2013

I've seen Kevin do two of his touring panels live, and have watched the videos of several more. The stories are amusing and touching, and I rarely hear him repeat them. The Q&A that comes from the audience adds another unpredictable element, and these overseas shows give you a glimpse of his fanbase outside of America.
What's great about it: These story-telling/Q&A panels are always great entertainment.

I've seen Kevin do two of his touring panels live, and have watched the videos of several more. He always finds great stories to tell, without repeating himself too badly. And the audiences bring good contributions as well. The overseas shows like this one, add another element letting you see fan responses from around the world.
What's great about it: His story-telling and Q&A panels are always a fun time.

Remembering scream queens of the 80's
on November 28, 2013

This is a nice, though short, documentary about 3 of the best-known "scream queens" from the 1980's: Brinke Stevens, Linnea Quigley, and Michelle Bauer. If you were a fan of their work, it's nice to get some background about their time in the business, as well as seeing some of their best clips.
What's great about it: A good documentary with some extra background/Q&A footage.
What's not so great: Short running time.

This release serves up every episode from the debut season of Code Monkeys, an animated program presented in a style that replicates 8-bit video games and concerns two friends who work at a video game company in the 1980s.

Adult cartoon for those who knew old-school gaming
on November 28, 2013

I found this cartoon by accident on G4 several years ago and really enjoyed it. The simplistic '8 bit gaming' style of art plays well for a show that is set at a video game company. There isn't a huge amount of elaborate 'things you can only do in animation' to it, but they do take advantage of the format.
What's great about it: Funny adult cartoon for people who remember the old gaming days.

Big-name stars cut loose and have fun
on November 28, 2013

I watched this several years ago when it was first available online. I thought it was very funny & entertaining to watch some big names going out of their usual element, especially Neil Patrick Harris as the story's super-villain.
Having it on BluRay gives it better sound & picture quality than just being at the computer, and makes it easier to show others why I enjoy it. It's made even better with several extras and featurettes that are included.
What's great about it: Very funny to see these folks in a different way.

A fun bonus with LotR BluRay purchase
on August 29, 2011

Most of the 'gift with purchase' incentives that I see with DVD & BluRay purchases do not interest me. So-so t-shirts or hats, bobbleheads or posters. But this was interesting enough to get my attention and make me pre-order the BluRay set.
It's not all that elaborate, and I don't know if I would have bought one for a separate souvenir purchase. But it's a fun keepsake and a rather close replica of the One Ring.
Unlike the group from the "Big Bang Theory" episode, I won't have to fight anyone over it, either!
What's great about it: A nice replica souvenir.
What's not so great: Nothing really bad about it.

Great definitive BluRay of the LotR Trilogy
on August 29, 2011

This was a superb production and I'm glad I waited for this one to buy BluRay. Picture quality is beautiful, draws you in on the smallest or largest shots.
The extra features are entertaining and will still take me some more hours to get all the way through. With the original DVDs they went for an "encourage people to buy both" tactic: the 'theatrical' editions had some extras, while the 'extended' editions had more and entirely different ones. The 'theatrical' BluRay set included the same extras from the corresponding DVDs and those were left out of this BluRay. It would have been nice if they had put every single thing in, make this a kind of 'crown jewel' edition.
But I can let that go and still enjoy this for all it is.
What's great about it: Beautiful picture. Tons of extra features.
What's not so great: Leaves out features from 'theatrical' editions.
