GREAT MUSIC
on March 3, 2008

Another movie that has been rated G, but it's not really apropriate for toddlers or small children. Some scenes are difficult to understand and others are really scary (i.e. the red bull). But it is a wonderful fantasy, excellent voices for the roles, and most of all, a terrific music. Songs of 'America' and Jimmy Webb's music only, are enough to buy this dvd.
What's great about it: music, story, voices
What's not so great: may not be appropriate for small children

Great grim movie
on February 23, 2008

I loved both, this one and 'A history of violence' and it has to be related to Viggo Mortensen's performance (and Croberg's directing). Naomi Watts was, also awesome. I keep my fingers cross for an Oscar trophy for Viggo. The scene in the public bath and the last scene with the baby are extraordinary, but in the same time send shivers down your spine. After Soprano, I was thinking I am not going to see another realist Mafia story. This was it.
What's great about it: excelent directing and story, Oscar performance by Viggo
What's not so great: violent, some gruesome scenes

ok for the money

This is not a very good chair, but it is ok for the money: I purchased this on sale for $50. If you have a kid in the house you will not want to have expensive leather chairs for your office, if you know what I mean. With that in mind, indeed the leather (or whatever material it is) immediately scratches, the tilt is locking all the time, and hours in this chair will hurt your body. For couple years and not extensive office activity this chair is satisfactory.
What's great about it: sturdy, easy to assemble, cheap
What's not so great: not comfortable, poor material, bad lock

durable ink

This is a good ink that I bought for my Epson R320. I bought it here because of the deal, buy 1 get one 25% off. I need 6 ink pieces for my photo print, and I had to replace 4 until now. The good thing is that it takes longer to dry than the 6 months they are recommended on the label and a kit makes a lot of pictures before ending, too. I got two kits (black and magenta) for longer than 18 months and it still makes quality pictures. I am satisfy with the picture quality overall, although I got some issues with the printer, but that is a different story. Buy ink from here (while the deal last), it is cheaper than in any other place I researched.
What's great about it: last long, good quality, it takes long time to dry
What's not so great: pretty expensive (six ink package need it)

A real UNIVERSAL story !
on February 19, 2008

I said that this is a true universal movie, because as a child, I was able to see it during the communist regime in my country. Somehow, this was one of the rare American movies not censured and, yes, animation movies were censured, too. But not this one. Somehow, this genial production has been able to soften even the censors. I am enjoying now, once again, this time accompanied by my own child, the best Disney movie and music ever to be put on tape. Excellent characters, incredible friendship lesson, music that makes memories alive and we are singing it for days after, story as much for adults as for kids. If Olympics makes wars stop, 'Jungle book' has made communists forgot their propaganda. It's a must for any DVD library.
What's great about it: story, characters, music, animation
What's not so great: none

A true Oscar movie
on February 18, 2008

This movie was a real surprise, as I expected a fantastic fairytale good only for my child. A very sensible drama of two families interwoven and directly connected to the genial imagination of a not so successful (until then) playwriter, have put toghether a very good movie. Sometimes, childish dreaming could become very helpful, even in the real life.
What's great about it: family movie, J. Deep act
What's not so great: sad story

Wonderful mix between classic and pop
on February 17, 2008

This is a typical Brightman stuff, a story teller remindful of Lord of the Ring images and Niebelungen heroic epic while listening. The duets are sensible and really delivering for the soul and heart. It's a classic, too, but my 4 years old is dancing all the way to the end, also. In all, a very worthy acquisition, although it is not exactly a very original piece of work for Brightman.
What's great about it: voice, nice mix, good duets
What's not so great: similar to other Brightman stuff

A celebration of our Planet
on February 14, 2008

I am not a fan of buying series or even documentaries, I bought this for my wife who's a teacher, to use it in her classes. What a shock! Amazing! This is like having a small encyclopedia on Earth science in your dvd player. I am glad that we purchased and discovered this amazing BBC 11 episodes story, especially for my daughter - there could not be a better way to learn about our natural heritage, but by watching it.
What's great about it: BBC made, awesome new information, incredible images
What's not so great: too short?

If you like to meditate, to listen to classic music, and to celebrate the spirit of Christmas at any moment of the year, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is for you. I bought 2 CDs of these guys last Christmas and I do not regret it. "Christmas in Sarajevo" is in my top 5 list for best Christmas songs.
