Does what I expected

I got a pair of the Arlo wireless (battery powered) cameras for Christmas, and tested them. Worked ok but decided cost of battery replacement and lack of local video storage were not what I wanted. Returned easily for store credit and bought one of these D-Link HD wifi cameras to test. I've had it installed for about a week and so far so good.
I was able to install a microSD card I already had on hand. Setup was pretty easy, although I had to reset and redo once since I didn't follow their directions exactly. I am relatively tech and networking saavy, having been in IT for 30 years, and I could see that novices might likely need to get customer support to assist with setup. But, for the cost (half as much for two as for two of the Arlo's), and the flexibility in advanced setup, these will work for me.
The video quality in light and infrared is very good at the distance I have my test unit at the inside of my front door. And, the area motion sensor setting to set off recording works very well. I'm able to access the recordings via my iPhone or laptop. I haven't configured it yet, but I can set it to send still clips of triggered events via email. I'll probably purchase at least one more of these to monitor our back door as well.
Caveats: 1) will take some patience to configure, and customer support is likely needed for non-techies. I have had good luck with other D-link products. 2) comes with AC adapter and a short 5' power cord, so will need an extension most likely and some way to hide cords. 3) will need a microSD card to store video locally, but can be adapted to record to network storage or a D-link NVR I believe. 4) will need reliable home wifi network.
My Best Buy number: 2147428747
I would recommend this to a friend!

DOES THIS D-LINK HD-WI-FI CAMERA,COMPATIBLE WITH ANDROID,AND WHAT'S NEED FOR THE SET UP?

From Quick Install Guide:
Minimum Requirements are:

1) Mobile Device (to use mydlink Lite app, which is referenced in rest of set up guide- although I think you COULD set up and access using a PC with Internet connectivity- check with DLink customer support)
- iPhone, iPad, or Android smartphone or tablet
(check your mobile app's store page for 'mydlink Lite' to see if your device is compatible)

2) Network Device and Service
- a wireless router (802.11n/a/c) with Internet service
- an e-mail account (required to create a mydlink account needed for setup and registration of device(s))

Can you Talk to the person in your house with this camera

No, this camera has only one-way audio. Good pick up of sound near camera, but cannot "speak back" through the camera.

What distance does the wifi work with from my router? how far away can I place this camera? Thanks

According to the install guide, you will need a "strong wireless signal for smooth video streaming". The camera has a WiFi signal locator LED... when it is lit GREEN, the signal is strong enough to work. Theoretically, without interference of building materials, etc, you might reach up to 300 feet from the WiFi router. I have mine about 50-60 feet away on the first floor of our house, with the router on the back side of our second floor. Works fine there. If needed to overcome distance or reflective building materials, you could install a WiFi signal extender.

What SD card does this device use?

From quick install guide: this camera supports microSD/SDXC up to 128GB. I'm using a 16GB microSD in mine, set to overwrite recording when full.

Can I use data from my smart phone or do I have to have internet at my house to view pictures when I am away on my smart phone? Is there any cameras that don't require internet, but can use smart phone data from your phone? Thankyou

These and any "wifi-based" camera WILL require home Internet wifi to connect. You CAN view this camera's recordings remotely via your smart phone data connection, but the recordings are sent to you remotely FROM your local home wifi network-connected camera (if using it's microSD storage), or from your local home network-connected NVR (network video recorder).
I believe some security companies can provide video surveillance options with remote mobile access that might not require your own Internet service, but would require service subscription fees of their own.
