The only thing I don't like about this camera is the top-dial lock. I never understood how people 'accidentally' switched between modes.. It'll probably take some time to get used to, but for now, I'm not loving it. As far as everything else goes, it's great! High-ISO performance is excellent for what it offers and you really wanna push the limit, invest into a full-frame camera. Same goes for investing into a L series Canon lens; they're just beautiful. Button layout on this camera is pretty straight forward. Love the lcd vari-angle screen and I wish all cameras had that feature. Even if you don't use it, I think it's great to at least protect it when not using the camera. The battery life is amazing too.

Very good for the price

I actually paid around $100 when I ended up getting this, but the average price of $150 isn't bad at all either! It comes with a desk stand but also gives you the option of screwing it into a floor stand. Has 4 different settings on the back of the mic. and also features a gain knob located directly above it that you can adjust. On the front of the mic., it gives you the option to control volume levels if you decide to plug in your headphones into it (another cool thing) and also has a mute button.
All in all, Ive had this product for little over a year now with no problems at all. BLUE is a great manufacturing company for microphones and this product is amazing, especially for the price.
* The volume knob has felt loose since day one but has never fell off. It isn't enough to bother me in particular, but it could be annoying to someone that is picky over small things like that. That's why I decided to rate the 'Craftsmanship' a 4/5. *

which is a better camera the Canon Rebel T5i or the SL1?

Looking for a good camera for astrophotography.
Aside from physical differences, they're both very similar cameras. I would personally get the T5i. Look outside of the kit lenses they come with and look more into better preforming lenses.
