At first I was set on getting an otterbox defender for my iPad 2, but after some research I found the Griffin Survivor. For $10 less I get a case that is built to military specs ( drop from 6ft, water resistant, sand resistant, etc), complete covering of all ports, and a built in screen protector (otterbox does not have any of these). The case does take away from the thinness and the lightness of the iPad 2 but personally I like the weighted feel. The screen covering doesn't affect the responsiveness at all and the stand is very useful especially when laying down or typing on a table. The only complaints I have Is the rubber does smell weird, the covers to access the mic, speakers, and rear camera can be a little annoying, and finally the stand when placed on the opposite side does cover the volume down button but does not get in the way. Instead of pressing the button you have to press the stand.
Overall I am very very pleases with the case to protect my investment. I love the case and the design. It feels and is very sturdy and will keep the iPad 2 safe.
What's great about it: Sturdy, built to military spec, built in screen protector, built in stand.
What's not so great: Weird smell, inconvenient port covers
