New phone for mom,She loves it!
on July 19, 2016
Posted by: xyberknight
So my mother's old Xperia T2 Ultra decided to burn out the internal Wifi, Bluetooth, and cellular antennas, so had tried twice to get it fixed under warranty, but 2nd time they advised that they would need $369.99 before being able to proceed with another repair. I told them, that I've sent this to them once already, and they didn't even fix the issue the first time, so took to Elite services, and got it pushed through for a gift card to preorder this. In the meantime, mom is using my old C4. I was originally going to get her a C5 Ultra, but none were available any where local, so ordered this. Basically this is nearly double everything that she had before with her T2 Ultra, while maintaining the same screen size. I first saw this at a mobile conference back in February. It's 1080p resolution screen is sharp and plenty bright, the zero bezel screen is a delight to view, and the speakers are both clear and loud, and even the earpiece speaker has been improved over Sony's previous efforts with a great signal range to boot. The Stamina mode for extended battery touts a full 2 days of use on a single charge with normal use. Power users could expect closer to the 8 hours mark, while social media and entertainment users mileage may vary based on brightness, volume level with/without headphones, and if you are utilizing wifi/HSDPA+ or LTE. Keep in mind that with most phones nowadays, this does make use of a nano sim card, so have yours read or cut accordingly. Mom uses Net10, and it was easy to setup, and the fact that this device should get Android 7.0 Nougat by year's end makes it extra icing on this very pretty white cake of mobile enjoyment. Worth your time, if you aren't all hung up on having the latest greatest faster thing around. This thing is no slouch with 3gb of LPDDR4 1866 hynix memory, and a mediatek refined design 8 core of what was in the C5 Ultra, but in my experience doesn't get as warm as that device or the Z series do. No 4k camera support on this, but with time, I'm sure that the xperia community on xdadev will have a port of one for very capable shots. The HDR feature really pops in all photo samples I've taken or seen with various lighting. The fact that this has both a front and rear LED for selfies that are bright and lit without an extra attachment or flash bar, and the rear flash is a bit more closely resembling a pop flash than a torch, so it's much closer to a xenon style flash. The fact that this has a larger screen, and more memory, and 16gb storage with microSDxc expandable up to 256gb makes this a future proof device for those that really just use a phone for what it's meant, and occasional media viewing, it's hard to go wrong with this device. The fact that with the order it included free a 64gb class 10 microSDXC sandisk was just extended sweetening of the pot. Works great with a tempered glass screen protector extension also. If you get it on its merits and what it's not, you shouldn't be disappointed.
My only issue is that most of the good multi layer device protection and case companies don't have a good option available for this to be protected. Outside of Ringke fusion clear or smoked that has port covers, and tactile button covers, which isn't bad for as thin as it is. Just hard to find any good cases for Sony Xperia series devices of late.

Not a good value for the price
on April 19, 2016

I have owned 4 of the Logitech G910 Orion Spark keyboards since the first day they came out, and they have the angled keycaps on it, and comes in a nice heavy duty storage box with outer sleeve, 2 wrist rests that are mainly left hand part covering the skeleton like frame of the bottom. The reason I've owned 4 is the R key has mysteriously shorted out on each and every one using for general gaming and coding. This cost me 46 more for the keyboard not counting warranty, and for 1 less wrist rest, and flat keys, no nice packaging(same as G810 packaging), and even the back of the keyboard still says G910 Orion Spark, with that referenced model number, rather than like the images would have you believe it should be G910 Orion Spectrum with its own model number. Still no sleeved cable, and only flat or 1 height adjustment, where the G810 Orion Spectrum is $20 less, has a sleeved cable, and 3 height adjustments counting flat. The lack of 9 G macro keys is the only difference other than the wrist rest, and it feeling a lot more solid. This costing more, and not even having a Tom Clancy's The Division code with it, really makes it an almost embarassing package to purchase for just the keyboard. Logitech has the flat Romer-G mechanical keysets on their website with a pull for $40, or just the angled key replacements for $24.99 that are on the Orion Spark. To tell me that the keyboard(same base design and make as the Orion Spark) costs $20 more without a wrist rest or keys on it at all, before adding the cost just isn't a justifiable cost for this purchase. Otherwise, if you can get it on sale for less than $140, do that, and order the keycaps and buy or 3d print a full length wrist rest and save yourself nearly $15 overall.

Best looking PS4 system to come out in the states!
on September 24, 2015
Posted by: xyberknight
I love how this system looks, though I would only want one thing different, and that is grips on the back of the controller, and the same placated artwork on the controller as well. The game is eh still, but it has improved. Also, the disc included is Destiny basic, and all other is dlc, wish they were all separate codes for each expansion, or expansion pass, but it's just 2 codes, limited edition content, and taken king digital expansion content which includes the expansion pass. It'd have really helped me get others to play, where I already had all of the first content digitally, including the game, so it was just nothing more than a trade in for me.

Best durability for the new3DS XL atm.
on April 10, 2015
Posted by: xyberknight
Keep in mind, that this case is the Hori Duraflexi for the NEW 3DS XL. I got this to be able to have some grip and also to deter fingerprints so much on my new 3DS XL system. There is room to be able to fit artwork under the TPU top or bottom. Also, if you have a custom system, or decals, this will display them but keeping in mind it's a TPU and not a polymer resin, it's not perfectly transparent. The fit is loose unless you slide it on and then apply a few extra seconds of pressure, at which point it's less an issue of sliding around or off of the system. The placement of the corner covers on the bottom insider is near ideal for a bit of relief in the palms while holding for a prolonged period of time. The best part about it it that it's 2 separate pieces, so if I want to use my imported controller grip with it, I can slide off the bottom part, and then clip the grip into place and I'm ready for multiple hours of play without so much hand strain. Hori definitely is on the right track with this as usual. The best part about the case is that there's not gawdy logo on it like tthe BD&A model that gamestop sells for 14.99, that includes 2 styli, screen protectors, and cleaning cloth gimmick attachment. Hori has always stood for excellence and usability with a premium design. Overall, an A for this product.

Awesome metallic red color, event on inside!
on February 20, 2015
Posted by: xyberknight
Picked this up for a friend. He loves that it's a metallic red carbon fiber appearance on the outside, and even red on the inside. He's a Monster Hunter player, so the C-Stick is a standout feature for him. Also, the extra boost in battery by 30-60 minutes longer, pending system settings). Just waiting on the Hori case to release for the system next month, and hopefully it will be an in-store pickup available item, and not just shipping available. The Amiibo feature(firmware update required) works great, and can't wait to see it implemented into more games in more intuitive ways. Great purchase.

Better than Playstation Eye & Kinect 1.0
on December 26, 2014
Posted by: xyberknight
The Playstation camera is steps in the right direction. But, on a console that prides itself on 1080p most everything, only having subpar resolution for the camera doesn't bode well for my review. This is leaps better than the Playstation Eye in some ways, but others, the original Eyetoy on PS2 had more ambitious features. Gone is the surround microphone from the Playstation Eye camera, and the ability to easily use it on PC with drivers like both the prior models of Sony's console camera accessories, in exchange for a new proprietary USB 3.0 connector. However, just like the Kinect 1.0, it again has dual lens cameras for better focal and tracking, because every one wants their console to have a way to stare at them through 2 camera eyes. The biometric and IR features of the Kinect 2.0 for Xbox one is still ahead of the game, but for needing so much space to make use of it, this likely will keep it out of small space gamers' use on the whole. However, there is no reason that some of the features couldn't be activated or coded through firmware updates over time. If you are going to stream, it's a near necessity that you have a camera, and at the current price, it's a lot cheaper than launch, and around same price as prior cameras released by Sony.

The PS4 is a graphical powerhouse, able to deliver massive game worlds with impressive clarity and detail. 8GB of RAM allows for serious multitasking potential, complementing the great apps and features that make up the PS4 experience. The PlayStation brand of consoles has an impressive history of delivering world-class exclusive games, and the trend is sure to continue with the PS4. The growing blockbuster catalog is backed by a library of free-to-play and indie games, giving you flexibility in how you pay and play. The PS4 also acts as a social hub, with several built-in features that take advantage of the social networks you're already using. The controller's Share button opens up a world of video sharing, with the option to stream your gameplay live or record it to edit and post later.PlayStation Vita owners will enjoy the connectivity that ties the two devices together, from Remote Play, which allows you to play your PS4 games on your Vita's screen over a local Wi-Fi network, to Cross-Buy, which allows you to purchase a game digitally only once and play it on both your PS4 and your Vita. All PS4 consoles will need a firmware update and must be connected to the Internet to complete the update. While your console will not always need to be connected to the Internet, a one-time connection is required for the update.Online multiplayer requires a paid PlayStation Plus membership. Some features require a broadband Internet connection; ISP fees apply.PS3 games, controllers and some accessories are not compatible with the PS4.

Sound hardware at a reasonable launch price.
on December 26, 2014
Posted by: xyberknight
I'm primarily a PC gamer, due to the small size of consoles typically being a death toll, and how they can eat your discs, and just wanting to play the best looking/running version of a release title. This system runs well, mostly cool(as long as laid flat, contrary to what Sony would have you believe trying to sell stands), and has user upgradeable hard drives installed. The down side is that you are still unable to do what both its competitors can now do, which is use external storage for games loading, as well, have native bluetooth headset support. But to not get ahead of ourselves, neither of the other 2 major console offerings can do that either. I've never been sold on having to use a headset tethered to my controller, and to me, that is the biggest downside for me. The controller feels better, accomodates larger hands with less discomfort, and the downloads and PSN overall run a lot more streamlined than the now current last gen PS3. This is by no means next gen, but I will refer to it only as current gen, as PC will always push the boundary of potential and best looking platform, as long as devs don't screw it over. But, with less restraints on memory for graphics and processing, it's a huge step in the right direction.

Feels like a PS4/XboxOne quasi lovechild gamepad
on November 24, 2014
Posted by: xyberknight
I've owned 3 of these. They feel great in the hand, the volume and capacitive controls are extremely sensitive. The d pad is floaty, and the triggers don't sense until nearly all the way pressed in across all 3 of the controllers I've had. The face buttons at time stick, the analog click in doesn't always register, and the controllers will randomly start flashing the nvidia logo/pairing button, trying to pair to a device when it's already paired. There is no way to reset the controller that I'm aware of when this happens, all that can be done is to completely let the battery drain, which can take up to 2 days at times, and then plug it in and charge it only from the cable it comes with on an AC charger and not from a pc usb port or hub. The mouse touchpad area is a great implementation that I'd like to see in more controller designs, the gamestream, when it works, and doesn't restore my remote gaming to windowed mode instead of full screen works ok, but the area where this shines is with Nvidia GRID(free download on Google Play for all Tegra enabled devices with Tegra3, Tegra4, and TegraK1, doesn't work with Tegra2, and only semi supported with a couple of Tegra3 devices, ie Asus Transformer Prime, TF200,Transformer Pad TF300, Transformer Infinity TF700(Tegra3 1.7Ghz), , Google Nexus 7(2012), A Hacked Ouya(Tegra3), Wikipad(overclocked 1.9Ghz Tegra3), & International HTC One X(Tegra3). Tegra4 devices are Madcatz M.O.J.O., EVGA Tegra Note 7, ASUS Transofrmer Infinity T TF701T, and of course the Nvidia Shield Console. The TegraK1 devices supported as of now are only the Google Tango Tablet(TegraK1 Denver Super dual core 64Bit) Nvidia Shield Tablet(TegraK1 32 bit quad core) Wifi and LTE models, as the GRID program isn't yet implemented for the Nexus 9, but should be soon. As for which devices support the Shield Hub or Tegra Zone apps, YMMV, just search and see if it lists as compatible with your device, and you may just be able to get this controller working on your device if it has support for dual band wifi with direct wifi connection support.

No 32Gb storage wifi model available.
on November 24, 2014
Posted by: xyberknight
I've owned 2 of the Wifi model, 3 of the LTE model, and there are just a couple of things that bother me about calling this a premium tablet.
1. Lack of NFC support
2. Spotty 2.4Ghz, and non existent 5Ghz wifi
3. Only 2Gb of memory
4. The construction and poor heat expelling design materials
5. No notification light, or haptic feedback implementation
6. Half baked Android 5.0 Lolipop rushed firmware update.
7. Still missing originally promoted and promised features.
8. LTE is locked to AT&T only, though the tablet is listed as unlocked.
9. LTE sim card tray is loose, & constantly get disconnects or resets.
If you look beyond these, this is what it sets out to do which it be an android tablet for gaming(with the separately purchased Wireless Shield Controller-which uses Direct-Fi(direct wifi-poor man's NFC,no where near as stable, but does offer less latency). The 2Gb of memory it has is DDR3L 1866Mhz speed, but the cpu part of the SoC is the exact same design as the 1.9Ghz Tegra4 found in the Shield Console, but overclocked, which causes battery life and heat output to become at times unbearable. A tablet should never reach with a thermal gun read measured at 56.1C on the back panel. Most of the weight of the tablet and thickness is required for the IPS display panel, and internally graphite matting against the back cover(as a way of expelling heat cheaper than just using aluminum unibody or magnesium alloy). The device doesn't feel like it's worth the $299.99(& $399.99 for the LTE) spent, especially when you can get a comparable Sony, Samsung, Google, or Apple tablet that is just as fast or faster with more features, better battery, better Ecosystems for same or slightly more with LTE that isn't locked to just AT&T as a carrier. My experiences aren't yours, but just take into account known issues which is case construction design failure(cracking issues of the surround band with heat and expansion), display issues, and power failures. As well with all display devices dead/stuck pixels, and degraded capacitive response. When it works, it works good, but when your internal storage or memory card gets over half full, the slowdowns, force closes, and resets begin, which were not solved by a factory reset and hard power restart. My main concern with this is that they basically installed an AT&T micro sim card and added 16Gb more storage to the wifi model, and installed the LTE antenna and think it's worth charging $100 more for it. I don't see this as the type of value added features that would be worth $100 more. Maybe on a proprietary hardware design that doesn't have external storage microSD slot available, if it had at least a a more premium material design(metal or alloy casing), NFC, another 1Gb of Memory, a true Tegra K1 design, not half Tegra4 CPU with K1 GPU on the SoC, a notification sensor, or LED for the camera on the back like the Nexus 9 does. Any of these would at least give the illusion of more a more stable product and premium cost to value efficiency. Mainly for the LTE part, if you don't like, nor have AT&T service, then you will not like having to wait on AT&T approval of firmware updates, and also the locked in sim recognization and bloatware on an unlocked tablet for only supporting AT&T sims.

When I give a rating, it's a matter of positives to negatives. That's why it's still a 4 star review. For what it does as a tablet in general it gets 4 stars, but for the lack of full features, and network inhibiting while claiming to be an unlocked tablet(instead of just unbranded, which is what I would consider it other than not having a locked kernel bootloader). I would never buy an orange to try and do the work of an apple, and while the Nexus 9 with its matching ipad resolution would have you believe otherwise, that's what getting an apple device over an android device is. They are 2 separate ecosystems, and levels of freedom. I only condone purchasing Samsung when it comes to monitors, not tablets or phones, as they are cheap materials trying to be a premium product at an inflated price point. I still prefer Sony's Xperia line, or even Nokia's new to android line for durability and rounded feature set, and marginally better battery life, but that's just me. These statements are a fact of matter at current firmware usage, which with only 2 updates under its belt so far, this device and its potential is still very much in its youth, but for my uses, I find it at mid par, as it misses some features, that aren't even thought of as features nowadays. Had Nvidia not let Foxconn assemble this, and actually spent a bit more attention to construction and design, for form to follow function, it would've worked out a lot better.

Could you please provide your full settings for being able to get this or the 49" 6430 to run at anything over 60hz for 1080p or 1440p? I've tried PC Mode on and off, and a variance of settings to no avail beyond 60hz on my 40Gbs HDMI 2.0 cable with my MSI GTX 980Ti Lightning. Thanks.

Get into the game with the Razer ManO'War headset. It has 2.4GHz wireless technology, letting you enjoy high-quality audio without wires, and a battery life of up to 14 hours of continuous game play on a single charge. The 7.1 surround sound of the Razer ManO'War headset immerses you in your gaming sessions, hearing every sound.

The best in it's price range, by far!

The good about the headset: design is super sleek and amazingly comfortable. Materials are light, well fitted, and the chroma design pairs perfectly with Razer's other accessories. I watched a linustechtips review about this before buying it and I gotta say, he got something wrong. He pointed out the hallow feel, and the fact they squeak when easily maneuvered. The squeak goes away very fast, and they feel solidly built. The battery also (advertised as 1 week, or 14 hours) stands true.
The bad about this headset: I believe that when the mic is fully pushed in, it should automatically mute itself. The ear cuffs do touch your ears, but still go around them, so be aware of that. You get used to it though. The ear cuffs also do get a little warm after multiple hours, something I think could be solved with maybe an addition of switchable cloth cuffs.
Bought this, along with the firefly, blackwidow chroma stealth, and the Mamba TE. In combination they are all absolutely beautiful. You can sync them all up so their LEDs react together, or separate for situational use. The program you use to do all this (Razer's Synapse) is super easy to use, has downloaded developer additions, and helps save profiles usable across multiple games, and computers. Razer's other additions of software (such as comms, arena, and cortex) also help increase your game time and play immensely. Their company truly is for gamers, by gamers.

No LinusTechTips review out yet

I don't know what you're referring to with a LinusTechTips video review of this headset, as Razer themself just 20 minutes ago put out a promo video for this headset. The only mention associated with anything of that parent company is a mention of its release on NCIXTechTips along with VR games compatibility. That's it. There are otherwise only person youtube video reviews of this available. Post your link for proof.

This Sony Xperia XA Ultra runs up to two days on a single battery charge for worry-free functionality.

Xperia XA Ultra, Does it have Wi Fi Calling funtion?

With the launch firmware, it currently is locked behind carrier branding only. Though, there is supposed to be a firmware update for it that ads it in within the first 6 months of worldwide launch.
