I had a DVD that wouldn't play. The play surface had some smudged finger prints and light scratches. I assumed that was the problem. I removed the Insignia Manual Disc Repair System from the box, read the manual, sprayed the play surface of the disk, inserted the disk in the unit, turned the crank until the disk had made one full revolution (many turns of the crank), and played the disk. It played like a new one.
This unit WILL NOT remove deep scratches. It is not designed to do that.
