Adequate, but not great

I purchased this because it is the only hybrid case on the market which will accommodate a Yamaha FG Series 12-string--due to the fact that the Yamaha FG series guitars have a wider lower bout than the "standard" dreadnought size.
While this does the job, it lacks features common to other hybrid cases by SKB, Kaces, and Wolfpak, features such as cushioned should straps/harnesses, a hygrometer, and at least four external storage pockets (the Gator only has two).
So while I would recommend it, the recommendation comes with some qualifications: I would only recommend if one is seeking a hybrid case for a Yamaha 12-string. If it was another brand of dreadnought with a smaller lower bout, I would recommend the SKB or Wolfpak hybrid cases since they offer more better protection against humidity and have more features.
What's great about it: Fits Yamaha FG Series 12-strings
What's not so great: Lack of accessory storage, shoulder straps are uncomfortable
I would recommend this to a friend!

The TTX stands alone among professional turntables because it was exclusively designed for the modern DJ, with a silicon rubber base that absorbs vibration and dampens low end feedback, and an interchangeable tone arm system that adapts to any DJ style. The TTX also delivers versatility and control thanks to an illuminated output bay, a built-in BPM counter, and interchangeable S-shaped or straight tonearms. Additional features include digital outputs for direct sampling, Key Lock and ?50% pitch control for unprecedented mixing options.

Not best method for converting vinyl to digital
on May 9, 2012

I purchased one of these under the Ion brand [Ion is basically the consumer electronics division of Alesis, which is owned by Numark]. While it is convenient to use [just plug into computer's USB port, plug it into a power source, install the software and go], it is lacking in many ways.
First, the turntable lacks a cueing lever, Since these have been standard features on every quality turntable made since the mid 1970s, it is difficult to determine what Ion/Numark designers were thinking when they omitted this feature.
The second problem is the A/D conversion bit rate and format. And since this is a software issue, this is the problem with the included EZ converter software. The A/D conversion rate/format is 160 kbps/.mp3. It's the lowest recommended resolution for recording music into a digital format--this is the digital equivalent of recording an AM radio signal onto a cheap cassette. As an audio engineer who works in archiving vinyl to digital, the minimum resolution should be at least 320kbps if one is archiving to .mp3 format. The optimal [best] resolution would be 1411kbps as either a .wav or .da format.
My recommendation, for the best audio results is a turntable patched into a dedicated CD recorder, which will record into a .da format. More expensive? Yes. But the results, especially if you are seeking archival quality, is light years better.
What's great about it: Convenience, ease of use
What's not so great: Poor A/D conversion rate, lacks some basic functions a turntable should have

RECORDER Simultaneous recording of 2 tracks and playback of 8 tracks The R8 is the perfect tool for capturing audio on-the-go. Record live music performances, rehearsals, songwriting sessions or even audio for film and video. Playback up to eight tracks of audio at up to 24-bit/48kHz resolution as WAV files. If you make a mistake, use the UNDO/REDO function to cancel the last recording operation and restore the previous state.

Best in class

While I realize other manufacturers make digital 8-track recording units, none of the other units pack as many features in them for the amount of money.
This has two built-in condensor microphones which use the same capsules as those used on the Zoom H4 [their top of the line field recorder]. It can operate off batteries, AC, or USB. In addition to functioning as a field recorder (which makes it handy for taking on vacation to have whenever a songwriter is "in the zone"), it can function as a standalone multi-track recorder (recording to SDHC cards), or as a controller/interface for computer/based multi-track recording.
Using SDHC cards for storage, instead of a power-consuming/noisy hard-drive, means lower storage capacity, but easier swapability when the card becomes full. Plus, the cards have a little "write protect" switch so when that switch is thrown, the cards cannot be accidentally erased.
The unit also includes Cubase recording/mixing/mastering software for computer-based recording.
There are only two drawbacks that I can see: (1) it only comes with a 2GB SDHC card, which would only allow for about 20 minutes/track of recording time if all 8 tracks are used, and (2) it only allows for simultaneous recording of two-tracks. The upside is that 8GB cards can be purchased readily and relatively inexpensively, and are easy to swap out when full. As for the track limitation, unless one is recording a full band, two tracks are plenty. If one wants the ability to record more than 2 tracks at a time, I recommend stepping up to the R16 or R24.
What's great about it: Ease of use, cost, built in FX, built-in drums with programmability.
What's not so great: Having to buy extra SDHC cards to have more initial storage capacity.

Security nightmare
on September 16, 2011

While boasting outstanding specs compared to other brands in this price range, the installation is a nightmare. While most brands provide a prompt at installation to change the factory preset SSID and passphrase, and in fact recommend the user change them for security purposes, the software on this does not. One has to dig into the owner's manual to find out how to do this. At each stage, the router disconnects from the internet after the changes are made. The only way to get the router functional again is to uninstall the software, then reinstall it using the new settings, Thus, for those wanting to maintain a high level of security on their wifi network [so Google street level view cam cars can't hack in], Belkin's so-called 3-step easy installation that takes 5 minutes is actually a 10-step nightmare that takes about 2 hours. I recommend anyone considering installing a new router pass on this brand and consider the others. They may cost more but what you save in aggrevation and time will be worth it.
What's great about it: Performance specs
What's not so great: Installation instructions are misleading and inaccurate.

Better than nothing but not by much
on February 18, 2011

There are two big problems with this case. In the first place, it's made from plywood that uses "luan" (aka "Philippine Mahogany") for the plies and it only has three layers at that. Woodworkers know that plywood made from this is not high quality and will not last. In addition, most hardshell cases made from plywood use a five-ply.
I'm assuming Gator is using a 3-ply to lower the weight factor to keep the case competitive with hybrid cases.
The second problem it that this case lacks storage space. The only storage space is the little box in the neck rest.
Although I keep my Yamaha12-string in one of these, the only reason I purchased this case is because it was the only one the store had in stock that the guitar would fit into. If' I'd had a choice, I would rather have spent about $10 more for a hybrid case--which is lighter in weight, has four external storage compartments in addition to the internal one, and has shoulder straps for carrying.
What's great about it: Light in weight and priced competitively with other hardshell cases.
What's not so great: Substandard materials and lacks necessary storage capacity.

A great 12-string for under $500
on February 15, 2011
Posted by: 12stringer

I've been playing guitar for over 40 years, 12-string for over 35 years. In that time I've owned six different 12-strings and tried at least 2 dozen others from top of the line Taylors and Guilds to low-cost professional level instruments from Ovation and Guild, to student grade to intermediate level instruments from Samick, Washburn, Ibanez, Alvarez, Conn, Dean, Fender, and Walden.
While I would not put this in a class with a $3000 Guild, this sets a benchmark for 12-strings in the under $500 category.
The construction and factory setup are top-notch. No uneven edges or joins. No sloppy or loose joins in the bracing or kerfing. The action on the neck is smooth as silk, with no fret buzzing and no uneven fret wires.
And of course, the sound: this offers clear definition across the spectrum. The extra size (this is larger than a standard dreadnought by at least 1/2" in the lower bout) gives an added low-end presense without being muddy. Yet it retains the chimey-ness for which a 12-string should be known without being tinny.
This guitar would be at home at a campfire or picnic, or at an open mic at the local coffeehouse whether cranking out a John Denver cover of "Rocky Mountain High," the Eagles' "Lyin' Eyes" or Led Zep's "Over the Hills and Far Away."
What's great about it: The sound and the quality of construction
What's not so great: Nothing

Amazing!
By shedzeppelin from Saginaw, MI
I've been playing for 4 decades, half of that professionally. I have a room full of guitars that looks like a music store and can't BELIEVE the quality of this instrument. Right out of the box I was impressed with the look and balance of it, (12-strings have a tendency to be nose-heavy). The intonation's dead-on, the action is low without buzzing and the sound is as big as a train. In the upper registers it sounds like a cross between a harpsichord and a music box. In the lower it's... LUSH. It's an absurdly low price for a guitar of this
quality. I bought it to have something to play while I was refretting my B45-12 but I think I'll ebay the Gibson when it's done and keep this, plays and sounds better for a sixth the cost.

If you still have not found a case for your Yamaha 12-string, I recommend the Wolfpak hybrid case.
Because it's a hybrid case (rigid polyfoam) it provides a little more protection than a gigbag, but without the backbreaking weight of a hardshell case. The Wolfpak also comes with a built-in hygrometer for monitoring humidity levels, something no other hybrid case in its price range includes.
I have one for a Breedlove, which, like the Yamaha guitars, also tends to be a bit wider in the lower bout than a standard dreadnought guitar. I've tried my Yamaha in it and it fits like a glove.

The print prints on DVDs and that is the reason I got this one. The program it comes with to create DVD labels was not as good as I would have liked. I ended up not using the program. the printer is nice.

I agree with you, the included software is very poor for label design.
Have you found any third party software that works with this printer?

Does this system have split channels for split track accompaniment CDs?

I need to be able to turn the vocals down and only hear the instrumental for choir practice.
Short answer--no it doesn't. There are no balance controls on this unit. It also is not a very well-built unit. The CD drawer is very flimsy. I purchased one and had to take it back to the store for a refund because it quit playing CDs less than 10 days after purchasing.
