Truly Amazing

As far as 'post metal' concept albums go ItAoT is as great as you can get without listening to TOOL. Isis show why they are generally regarded as pioneers of the genre with tight playing, hypnotizing lyrics that quickly flow into the guttural screaming we've come to know and love so much and intricate time signatures that blend into an amazing 65 minutes of listening.
What's great about it: It is what a great post metal album should be
I would recommend this to a friend!

Atlanta-based metal grinders Mastadon offer a revealing look at life in the band with over three-hours of revealing, behind-the-scenes footage and twenty-eight intense tracks. With footage taken from the band's personal video archives, in-depth interviews, and career-spanning live-performance footage that dates back to the band's initial, five piece inception, this comprehensive release shows just what it takes to be a Mastadon. Featured tracks include "Crusher Destroyer," "Mother Puncher," and "Shadows that Move".

The Workhorse Chronicles is a great DVD full of features and videos from the early years of Mastodon. The main feature (documentary) follows the members from their pre-Mastodon days up to the Leviathan era days with music, videos and interviews and that amuse as well as inform. Secondly you'll get 28 live concert recordings from the earliest days as a five piece straight through to the sold out shows before they went on to record Blood Mountain. Lastly is the groups first three music videos as well as as making of all three. For any long time Mastodon fan or someone just coming in on the Crack the Skye era this is a must have,
What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: Perhaps not long enough
I would recommend this to a friend!
