An improvement over traditional FPS mechanics

This is my starting point in the call of duty series and it is an excellent one at that, I do plan on going back to play the predecesor call of duty 4 but for now let me talk Modern Warfare 2. This game has a stellar campaign with plenty of omg moments packed into the relatively short story missions clocking in around 6 or so hours and incredible visuals to compliment those moments. Theres also the inclusion of spec ops mode which are pretty much campaign missions without the story to accompany them, these can be done with a friend and will take some impressive players to unlock all the stars for the missions. The sound effects from bullets whizzing overhead to large explosions in the distance are all spot on and make the experience all that more enjoyable. The multiplayer is what wil keep me coming back to this game however as it has a vast amount of unlockable weapons, emblems, and prestiges. The ability to customize my player online to have either a sniper, smg, or assault rifle is an amazing feat ( if a little unbalanced) and keeps me playing deep into a saturday night to try and earn new attachments to my guns as well as new perks. although the experience can be frustrating at times depending on what type of people your playing with its really great at its good times. As a new player to this series Im enjoying every bit of it.
What's great about it: Ability to customize character in multiplayer, graphics are gorgeous, variety of online game modes
What's not so great: Some glitches online that occur periodically
I would recommend this to a friend!

A good game just takes some getting used to

With the brunout series switch from more linear progression to an open world theme the series takes a bit of a step back. Unless this is going to be one of the only games your going to play it takes some time to find the best routes to take for races in the game. There are some new gametypes besides the traditional road rage and race modes, theres now modes like stunt run and marked man that add some variety to the game as you try to rack up big points on a triple barrel roll or try to escape from the pursuit of agressive cars out to take you down. The graphics are stunning as the lighting and car models look spectacular and totaling your car whie dissapointing also looks quite nice. One of the only problems is the open world of the game as it takes a while to adjusted to however the world a graphical powerhouse and includes several memorable locations. If your a fan of open world racers that include destructible cars this may be the game for you.
What's great about it: New game modes, sweet graphics
What's not so great: Open world, crash mode not included

An incredible game with a massive amount of quests

Oblivion is simply a masterpiece, yes all masterpieces still have certain flaws however oblivion is nearly flawless. To start off theres so many things to do in oblivion I couldnt even stomach another playthrough as the first playthrough was about 170 hours ( might need to set aside a few months of your life for this game). You can easily get lost into this game with the sheer vastness of it, after the opening mission that gets you adjusted to the games controls you can simply go in any direction you want and play how you want. If you played morrowind as I did the freedom for certain things does seem restricted ( no more summoning 20 different creatures to slaughter the townspeople for you) but there still so many missions to tackle. The graphics are gorgeous considering the size of the world you play in and one of the only problems is character animations as the seem a bit stiff and wooden. Combat flows nicely as you can transition from sword and shield to spells on the fly with hotkeys ( the problem is remembering which hotkey is which) and the ability to customize spells and enchant items is nice. The charactes are voiced pretty well for such a wide range of them and each one seems to have their own problems to deal with even as the main plot of the game continues to unfold. There is a plethora of elder scrolls lre to learn about here an f you have them time you should try to see it all. Again this game is amazing and an excellent edition to fans of rpgs.
What's great about it: Long engaging quests, impressive visuals, freedom to play as you wish
What's not so great: Occassional bugs

Many impovements, but a few steps back

To me dragon age 2 was a fun game. Not necessarily the most polished graphics, not the most smooth combat, but good dialouge and characters that had me playing for hours on end. The changes from Dragon Age: Origins are apparent from the start (assumig you played that game) the combat doesnt require as many tactical options, the graphics have gotten an overhall, and the story missions are organized like a messy bowl of spaghetti. These changes dont make the experience worse in some cases but instead can heighten the experience depending on your preferences. With two different playthroughs my average playtime was around the 40 hour range and I didnt explore every single crevice even with a total of about 80 hours under my belt, with a different playstyle someone can get something a little different in terms of combat and dialouge every time. However what you cant escape is how repetitive the enviroments get since they are used constantly it wasnt that much of a bother to me, but if you enjoy wide deserts, tropical jungles, and a variety of citys to throw in the mix you wont find it in this game. What kept me coming back in the end was the incredible dialogue and cast of characters, they were all so expertly written and voiced that I found each one of them interesting and comical in their own aspects. Although the story seems to be toned down a bit it still has plenty of moments that are worthy of acclaim. In all Bioware has crafted a game much different than their usual norms but that might not be so much of a bad thing in the future.
What's great about it: Characters and dialogue
What's not so great: Repetitive enviroments and may not be as captivated by the story

Mass Effect 2 may just be the best single-player experience I have ever had the pleasure of playing. The cinemaic feel of the game is spectacular. There are high-end cinematic cutscenes, full-on voice acting for an in-depth exprience, and the level of detail is mind-blowing. If you have'nt played the first game in the trilogy then please do play it just to make this game all the more better. The gameplay is much smoother this time around of course not the perfect 3rd-person shooter, but its pretty far up on the totem pole. The story is rides shotgun this time around the let the characters take hold of the wheel. Some of these characters are so deep and compelling they just feel much more believable. The art style is a much darker tone to fit in with the dark and desolate story that pushes it, you are commander shepard the one man that has the drive to save the entire galaxy from extinction and the story makes it feel that way especially near the impressive end which I will not spoil here. I have played through this game thoroughly 3 times and by playing a different style every time there is always something new to see. unlike the first game the side quests here are not the same environment repeated many times in a row each one is varied and unique. After playing almost all side-quests the main story and listening to the extensive voice acting the game took me about 28 hours on average. Bioware went to great lengths to assure that each player has his or her own personal game and they succeeded. If you want to get lost in a rich and detailed sci-fi world pick this game up.
What's great about it: Extensive voice-acting, detailed sci-fi world, immersive atmosphere, I can go on and on.
What's not so great: You have to play the first game to get the full effect.

Assassins Creed: Brotherhood is the continuation of Assassins Creed 2 it takes place in the beautiful city of Rome. If you havent played the previous games then you probably really shouldnt play this game for its story. You will be very confused and although the game gives some background information it is not nearly enough to explain all of the crazy s### that goes down. I've played the previous games and even I'm still confused. Also this game has very intriguing characters that feel believeable. Anyway moving away from the story AC Brotherhood is a game with amazing graphics and lots of detail to make the game world really immersive. If you only play the main plotline this game is still quite lenghty for an expansion maybe just a bit shorter than Assassins Creed 2 it could take anywhere from 10-20 hours to complete and then go back to see all of the other side quests and extras. Then theres multiplayer. This is the first time the Assassins Creed series has contained multiplayer and it feels like it came to late beause its multiplayer is phenomenal. Multiplayer has never really been carried out like it has in Brotherhood. In the basic Wanted mode which is like a free-for-all you play as an assassin assigned to a target but also based on what place you are in you could have any number (up to 4) players that are hunting you. There are also perks and abilities that mix up the action and keep it fresh. you unlock them as you progress through the levels and its really fun to nail that perfect kill through planning and maybe a little luck. AC brotherhood feels like more than an expansion and if you play the multiplayer you wont be disappointed.
What's great about it: Long and captivting story. Great new multplayer addition.
What's not so great: Maybe a little confusing to players that havent played the previous games. Multiplayer might be frustrating at times.

One of my All-Time favorite game on Xbox 360>

There are so many things that could be said about Halo: Reach and its endless hours of entertaining content, so I think I'll start with its campaign. Now if your a hardcore Halo fan you should know that this story doesnt have a happy ending but its still a very good story. Without spoiling anything Halo: Reach takes place on the planet of... you guessed it Reach. It follows the story of Noble Team and they're protection of the planet. The game should take on average about 7 hours to complete but thats not all reach has to offer. There is also firefight mode where you and a few buddies can take on wave after wave of covenant (the main antagonist in reach). The game can be played alone but with a few friends is when Halo: Reach really shines. Forge mode returns from Halo 3 and is greatly expanded and improved, you can make entire full-scale maps ....of course thats if you have the patience and imagination to do so. Lastly theres the ever-popular online multiplayer which happens to be my favorite part of the experience. Controls are some of the best to be offered from any first person shooter around, and the action is fast and responsive... maybe a little too fast for seasoned halo veterans. With the inclusion of armor abilities the action is much quicker-paced there are new options in combat such as sprinting and jetpacking just to name a couple. oh i could ramble about Halo: Reach all day but just know its the most bang for your buck, particularly if you are a dedicated online player.
What's great about it: Just about everything.
What's not so great: The story is good however the characters are little more than cardboard cut outs. But this is only a minor gripe.

Now if you have played the previous gears of war titles you should know this game is bloody. There is tons of gore and fast paced action. gears of war 3 is a 3rd person cover-based shooter and is obviously by the number on the title the 3rd and supposed final installment in the series. Gears of war 3 is make some big promises over its predecessors, including dedicated online servers for online multiplayer, a revamped a smoother control experience, and new gameplay modes. Now in gears of war 3 the core mechanics are pretty much remaining the same however most are getting lots of polish. If your not a big online player gears may not be for you due to previous installments having relatively short campaigns clocking in at around 6-7 hours on normal difficulty. Gears 3 may be different though since its been delayed till september 2011 this allows lots of changes to occur. I'm looking forward to it im a big gears fan and hope to fully enjoy this final entry in the trilogy. also with a good HD tv this game is one of the most visually stunning on the xbox 360, heck even with a bad tv its pretty darn gorgeous.
What's great about it: Multiple new game modes, improved multiplayer, extra year of polish.
What's not so great: The story still has a lot to wrap up, and I'm waiting in anticipation to see the conclusion.
