Jack is my hero. Every single thing he touches becomes brilliant. As if white stripes, dead weather, and raconteurs weren't enough, now he does a solo album and it's equally (if not more) mind-blowing. Then he takes it a step further and launches it via 1,000 helium balloons of special vinyl editions! Like i mentioned before, EVERY SINGLE THING HE TOUCHES IS BRILLIANT!!
Finally! An album that pays homage to its roots. to The Roots. it's so great to hear a group bring back some of the elemental characteristics of old-school hip hop. These tracks are killer, hustle bones & the cage are so tight! Do yourself a favor and purchase this record.
to put it simply... great music by great musicians. it doesn't get much better than this... the album from start to finish is just beautiful. Regardless of whether you have seen the movie, this album is a collection of some of the most amazing melodies I have ever heard.
I like to think of this record as a fine whiskey after cask-oak aging. Whiskey in its infancy is more wild and more accepted among the younger generation because of its accessibility and uncommon tradition from that of their parents. Enter: the shins. In their younger albums, there was a rebellious edge to the music that most fans have clinged to. When trying to make the switch from the weaker fermented alcohol to the fine, rich gentleman's drink it is a difficult transition. That being said, as a purveyor of fine whiskey, I like to think of this new record as a delicious brew that is deserving of stones instead of ice. It's time to refine ourselves, friends, and indulge in the good stuff (aka. Port of Morrow).
this is the CD that will be HUGE in a few months. If you are one of the real music lovers out there, this album will set itself high upon the shelf from which you select your next songs. It's catchy without trying to be, it's indie without knowing it, and it's edgy without any harshness. Treat yourself to a unique musical (s)experience and play this cd into your best pair of headphones. As soon as I get off work, I come home and put on holy weather for a complete stress wind-down, but at the same time it hypes me up for whatever is coming next! I can't wait to see this band live already... i can only imagine the energy that would be inside of the venue!
Anyway, ramble ramble... this CD is really f***** good!
I had the pleasure of seeing casey james at a private acoustic show in new york and man, the guy is great! He's so down to earth, so talented, so funny, and so real. It's so great to see someone go so far in the industry and still maintain their true character and personality. The fact of the matter is... he's a born country-boy born to play country! Anyway, I'm a huge fan, love the new album, been rocking it straight solid for the past two days!
What's great about it: down to earth, home-town country
Bruce is really hitting it home with this one... home everywhere. I can't think of a single person who isn't affected by some of the concepts in this album... economic hardships, unemployment, etc. He's taken his story-telling to a new level with this very real and very powerful album. I admire his poise in the poetry and lyrics, standing tall and saying what he truly feels. The music is also incredibly moving, a big sound that is a perfect background for the even bigger words.
what a great album! I absolutely love the somewhat stripped down feel and the huge focus on loud guitars and percussion. As a musician, I often hear music where the vocals are cranked (pretty much any song on the radio) and it's so nice to be able to hear all the actual instrumentation with the tings. This band has nailed it... perfect name, perfect mixes, perfect look, catchy songs, and awesome music videos. I've enjoyed everything they've ever done and especially enjoy their latest album!
As a young adult in a generation cluttered with white noise, it's a pleasure to have someone like Mr. Cohen still writing and recording... keeping the tradition of lounge-room lullabies alive. As I listen to this new cd, I imagine his voice as a cowboy telling a story over beautiful melodies of various instruments and background singers. Such a treat to have such a unique artist still putting all his effort towards his love of music. Thanks, Cohen.
hell yeah this album is so sick! i’ve been getting more into the metal scene lately with older bands like blood brothers, cannibal corpse, and others… and lamb of god seems to be the stakeholders in the best metal i’ve ever heard. Even more awesome is the fact that they released a brand new album shortly after I got really into them… so now I have more music from them to listen to! Not to mention.. the new album is F***** ridiculous! F*** yeah!
Funeral Party is more than just an edgy rock band out right now... they are paving a path for a whole new series of bands to follow! This album is a huge push forward for more aggressive music... and is on the rise to becoming a milestone for popular rock!
