Quality & Sound Perfection for the Price

Bought this due to Bose reputation when the price approached the Samsung 3.1 system and at the advice of the Best Buy sales rep. I am not disappointed with the volume, highs, & lows it produces. As usual, Bose is a little arrogant when publishing specifications. I asked for the frequency response by e-mail. Their simple answer is that Bose doesn't publish it. Judging by my Onkyo 7.1 system, the bass goes down to at least 40 Hz. Usually Bose speakers have unlimited watts with micro fractions of harmonic distortion. You will not be disappointed in the stereo sound production even though it is not simulated surround-sound. You can also add a blue-tooth wireless accessory. But I use an RCA to 3.5 mm stereo "Y" cable to connect my iPod Touch, iPod Nano, or phone to the speakers (the Nano is not blue-tooth). I agree with the other reviewer's cons. The wires limit the distance you can located the sub-woofer. Without a sound level display, you can't return to the exact same volume level. Your other electronic devices have on on/off switch in addition to the remote. As a plus though, the universal remote attached to my Samsung TV and the DirecTV wireless control box so that all three can turn on with one remote button. I had to refer to the Bose Youtube video for remote programming help because I did not understand the instruction booklet. If the price is right, Bose is worth the risk because their products last a lifetime. I have 301 speakers and a wave machine CD/radio.

Great Video Player

Got it free with a TV bundle. Haven't owned it long enough for the problems that others have to show up. But, the $20 Geek Squad warranty is a no- brainer with all the negative comments. As others have mentioned, it could use a front power light. I don't use it to stream video, but the wi-fi set up was easy. The laptop to TV connection is better with a keyboard. I use a digital optical audio chord from the TV to my 7.1 home theater receiver for dolby pro logic II extended surround sound.
What's great about it: Easy Set up, unique design, quality video & sound reproduction
What's not so great: noisy when scanning a disc

Great Quality for the price

Bought this unit for a 32" Samsung LED LCD, so I was interested in the upconvert feature of our old DVDs. Using the HDMI connection, but was glad to find out it had the optional RCA sound and video outputs for older TVs. It says it can do 5.1 stereo sound, but I don't think you will get a TV to do that without sending the sound output to a receiver or home theater sound system. Used the quick set up guide and the on-screen menus without having to read the larger manual.
We have the older version without the up-convert and it has been a workhorse for 5 years and still going.
What's great about it: Compact size, choice of connections, price
What's not so great: Nothing found yet

How do I connect the Cinemate 15 to my TV, Cable Box and DVD Player at the same time.

The cable box and DVD outputs go to the TV inputs to view video and hear sound through the TV speakers. The Cinemate 15 connects to the TV alternate sound output alone by digital optical cable, RCA stereo cables, or by a coaxial cable. The TV setup controls will have to be set to send sound to the alternate outputs instead of the TV speakers. Not all TVs have an alternate audio output though.
