The Julian Fellowes-created British period drama Downton Abbey originally premiered on Britain's ITV in late September 2010, and on PBS in the U.S. just over 3 months later. Set the titular Yorkshire country estate, it explores events in the lives of the Crawleys, a family in the late Edwardian era of the early 20th Century. Accordingly, members of the clan must contend with such global crises as the sinking of the Titanic and the eruption of World War I.
