This release contains both volumes of Lars Von Trier's sexually charged drama Nymphomaniac, which centers on a brutalized young woman who recalls her many sexual exploits to the kindly bachelor who nurses her back to health. When Seligman (Stellan Skarsgård) finds Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg) clinging to life in a darkened alley, he brings her back to his apartment, and begins tending to her wounds. Meanwhile, comfortable in the company of the benevolent stranger, Joe finds her thoughts drifting back to her youth, and her dramatic sexual awakening.
This release pairs two of actor/director Clint Eastwood's most respected westerns, his Academy Award winning triumph Unforgiven, and The Outlaw Josey Wales.
I would put a 3.5 stars if I could. Overall, it's a good sequel, good production value, smart and funny scenes, and the CG has come very far. But, because so much of this takes place in the ape community, there is quite a bit of animation and it can get a little cartoon-y for stretches, which I don't like. Mostly, I would recommend seeing it, though.
I can't say much more about this excellent film that hasn't already been said but if you are one of the very few that hasn't checked out this amazing film yet that has aged like a fine wine, then the new remastered blu-ray is the perfect way to do just that.
