Big departure from the norm

Well, what can I say, its a Saint's Row game. It features blatantly ridiculous situations, and ups the ante through the whole game.
I'm having a great time with it, and if you're a fan of the franchise, don't pass it up. That said, the mechanics of this game essentially means that you won't play it like Saint's Row before. The superpowers in this game, while fun, basically ruin certain aspects of the game that you may have loved before. For example, since you can jump over buildings and run faster than any vehicle, why would you ever spend time in a car, much less upgrade it? Since you can send enemies flying with a stomp and shoot fireballs, why would you make sure your shotgun is upgraded all the way?
I've experienced a lot of bugs and general glitchiness, but nothing game breaking, just annoying (and I'm not talking about the intentional "glitches" in there for effect). Safehouses are gone, replaced by multiple entrances to one safehouse, and I feel like there are less NPC's in the world to interact with. The world always looks the same because its always night time, etc. The game is built on the same engine and looks exactly the same as SR3, so there aren't any presentational improvements here either. Honestly, the game feels more like a really big expansion pack for SR3 than a whole new game.
But, I'm a negative nancy, and like to point the bad. The story is unapologetically great and is even crazier than the previous game, and there are some very good jokes in here. For long time fans, there are a lot of throwback references to characters/events from the entire series. The characters you created/downloaded for SR3 are usable in this game too.
In short: great game, but doesn't bring as much to the table as Saints Row 3 did. Also, you can move around like a mixture between Crackdown and Prototype. Lord knows I've always wanted to try that in a GTA-like game, and this was it.
What's great about it: Carefree ridiculousness, co-op play
What's not so great: Buggy, game engine not improved since last game

Put on your shades and prepare to step into the boots of Duke Nukem, whose legend has reached epic proportions in the years since his last adventure. The alien hordes are invading and only Duke can save the world. Pig cops, alien shrink rays and enormous alien bosses can't stop our hero from accomplishing his goal: to save the world, save the babes and to be a bad-ass while doing it.

Better than you're led to believe

Graphics: the best? No, but still pretty good.
Controls: the best? No, but still pretty good.
Story: pretty bad. But it's a Duke game, and it is exactly what it should be, in all it's crass, rude, vulgar, and slightly perverted goodness.
I feel this game is being unfairly slammed because its being judged by gamers unfamiliar with what Duke games are all about. Since it doesn't live up to the gameplay or control standards of the latest iteration in the Call of Duty franchise, it is being deemed as a toilet humor game with no good qualities.
First off, this game is strictly FAN SERVICE! If you didn't enjoy or experience Duke Nukem before, there's nothing here for you. Second, the controls, graphics, gameplay are not too bad. I don't know why people think these aspects of the game are so terrible. Yes, it would be a painfully generic romp through familiar levels without Duke and his trademark humor, but that's pretty much the whole reason this game is fun.
I've been playing the game for two days, and have been enjoying it very much. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Duke 3D.
What's great about it: The king is back! So are the guns, baddies, and jokes.
What's not so great: The halo-esque health and two weapon system.

Type of Listener:Avid listener
Most Important to Purchase:Sound quality
How Often Used:Less than once a week
The active noise canceling is cool, but I bought these primarily because I wanted some nice headphones to use at home that had excellent sound quality. Also, I wanted headphones that produced full range sound effectively, including deep bass. So, I bought the Beats Studios, and was sorely disappointed.
The noise canceling feature works well. But in order to use the headphones, the noise canceling MUST be turned on, so you're on battery power no matter what. In terms of sound, these $300 over the ear headphones sounded barely a LITTLE bit better than the $20 Skullcandy earbuds that I had. The audio was slightly more defined, and the bass a tiny bit deeper. Certainly not worth $300. Returned them for a $150 pair from Klipsch that blow the Beats out of the water.
What's great about it: Noise canceling
What's not so great: Mediocre sound quality, unimpressive bass

LA Noire is certainly ambitious. But to call it a "game" is to use the term very loosely. It's just a series of cutscenes tied together by the player moving from point A to point B.
The gameplay hook is you having to choose whether or not you think people are lying, withholding information, or being truthful. If you get questions right, you'll get more evidence and the game will inherently be a bit easier, but that's where the incentive to choose correctly ends. The story will play out the same way no matter how well you do in the interrogations. You cannot fail.
In short, it's a glorified choose your own adventure book that tells you to turn to the same page no matter what choices you make. Most disappointing game purchase since Force Unleashed 2...
What's great about it: Facial animation
What's not so great: Ridiculous gameplay, poor graphics.

SynopsisHome used to be where the heart was. America used to be free. Now, home is nothing but a bleak landscape of walled towns and abandoned suburbs, where high school stadiums have become detention centers and shopping malls shelter armored attack vehicles. Fear and despair have crept into the United States that you knew and loved. Worldwide conflict, dwindling resources and economic crisis have taken their toll; and now, in 2027, the savage, nuclear-armed Greater Korean Republic clenches the US in a brutal occupation. But the enemy forgot one little thing about the USA: they may have seized our land and weakened our state, but no one can weaken the spirit of the American people. Not since George Washington led the patriots in the Revolutionary War has America fought a battle so vital to the freedom of the nation and so close to the hearts of the people. Not since then have we had to band together to protect our Homefront. Take the front lines alongside the colorful characters of the Resistance as you employ daring guerrilla tactics, commandeer military vehicles and unleash epic warfare across sprawling battlefields with first-person sharpshooting action. The heart-pounding, hair-raising exhilaration of the struggle springs to life when you take the fight online and experience multiplayer infantry, helicopter and drone battles the likes of which you've never seen. Enter a ghost town where the residents have been relocated to nearby labor camps in the "Suburb" Xbox 360-exclusive multiplayer map. Featuring empty houses and buildings, this infantry- and drone-only map offers extensive cover locations while rooftops and tree houses make for ideal sniper locations. Mask your fear, take your weapon in hand and bear the title "American" with pride: this is the call to save your Homefront.

Talk about overhyped...

This game was brilliantly marketed. The story seemed like it would be awesome, and it was supposed to be THQ's answer to Call of Duty. Oops. The campaign sucked, was abysmally short, and it had no ending or resolution whatsoever. And I've never been one to say that graphics will make or break the game, but this almost looked like a last-generation effort on that front. The multiplayer was a neutered, less thought out version of Call of Duty mixed with Battlefield. And to top it all off, the multiplayer incorporated one of the greediest recent trends in gaming: the online pass. THQ reported that this game was more profitable than they anticipated. I blame the marketing, and the popular genre of modern war scenario FPS games. Skip this pile of fail.
What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Campaign, graphics, multiplayer, ONLINE PASS!!!

Not the game it should have been

I was excited for this game, and I got angry when I finished it. The graphics and controls are solid, but this is not the story of Reach that I wanted to hear. Ever read the novel? That's the story I wanted to play. I wanted to know more about Master Chief, not about some group of unheard of Spartans. The mission structure seemed fragmented, and I felt like I didn't have much context for my actions. The ending was lame. Nowhere near the ending that Halo 3 had. Forge world? Well, there's a lot to do, but its a painfully slow and cumbersome undertaking with an xbox paddle. There should have been some sort of PC interaction for map creation. If you're in it just for competitive, albeit generic multiplayer, go for it. Otherwise skip this game altogether.

Certainly a niche type thing. Only established fans are going to get anything out of it, but if you are one of the initiated, you should get this. Overall quality is not really that good, but that's part of the charm. It's really bad, in a really awesome kind of way.

Travel to a galaxy far, far away and continue the story of the epic Star Wars saga. Set in the massive unexplored era between episodes III and IV, this storyline has players taking on the role of Darth Vader's secret apprentice — the powerful anti-hero, Starkiller. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II takes place in the era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Assuming the role of Darth Vader's secret apprentice, players must wield lightsabers and utilize unimaginable force powers to fulfill the Sith Lord's dark plans. Will you be seduced by the Dark Side of the Force, or can you fight it to become a powerful Jedi Master?

Disappointing follow up to a great game

The ONLY great thing about this game was the graphics. The game is very pretty to look at. Framerate looked good too, except for the occasional slowdown, but nothing so bad to affect the experience. Gameplay was good with the two light saber weilding, and there are some really cool combos you could do with them.
I'm sorry to say, but the reviewers that think the story was amazing clearly didn't pay much attention. From one level to the next, the story does not make any sense and things happen for no reason. It is rampant with giant plot holes and shameless cameos by characters (Yoda, mostly) that play no part whatsoever in the story that there is. The main character changed from a strong lead to a whiny emo child. There are two endings. One derails the fiction of the second half of the saga, and the other makes the entire game not make any sense. Considering that the original Force Unleashed won awards for the story, that is saying a lot.
Normally I don't complain about length, but this game was absurdly short. It's almost as if the second disc was missing from the box. And considering how the game ended, that wouldn't seem to suprising.
As far as enemies go, the developers claimed they were trying to streamline the experience by removing "unnecessary" enemy types. All I saw was a complete lack in enemy variety which made the levels seem more repetitive than they already were and limit the number of finishing moves Starkiller could perform.
I am a big gamer and huge Star Wars fan. This was the most disappointing video game purchase I made all year. I will not be supporting any of the DLC for this title.
What's great about it: Graphics
What's not so great: Nonsensical story, lackluster gameplay, ridiculously short

Astoundingly disappointing.
By Harnao from Pennsylvania
Before I begin, let me say I was a huge fan of the first game. This new one has the same gameplay and the same great graphics that made the first one shine. The good points stop there, sadly.
First, and foremost, this game felt very unfinished. The story was disconnected and unpolished. They seemed to add famous cameos for no reason other than to have them in the game. There was no purpose to them at all and in writing, anyone who does not advance the richness of the plot takes away from it.
The game was also astonishingly short. After the last boss, I was in shock that the game was over already. 3-4 hours is a normal playthrough. It may take some players 5-6 to finish but only if they really take their time to explore everything.
Bottom line: Save your money and rent this game. I certainly wish I did.

Hopelessly outnumbered, his outlook is bleak. But when you are bred for battle, you fight past the breaking point and bow to no one. It's all been building to this — a desperate, final war that leads to a soul-shattering climax of epic proportions. Help this incredible hero stop the Covenant, destroy the Flood and save the lives of every person on the planet. The third chapter in the critically acclaimed franchise features insane battles with an arsenal of alien and human weaponry. Discover all-new armaments and characters as you fight to the finish. You can even play online with Xbox Live and battle in pulse-pounding multiplayer action. Decent game overall
By CosmoCramer from Oklahoma
Halo 3 ended up being just a decent game after I completed it. It reminded me of an unpolished Resistance 2. The controls were very much the same, which was a plus but the the graphics were very mediocre. It may be due to the 360 lacking in the ability to play in "true HD".

Well sir, something must be wrong with your xbox, because my xbox has full 1080p output, and games tend to look pretty good. In fact, I've got a PS3 as well and can't tell any difference whatsoever in graphical differences.
