Best Album of 2012
on August 11, 2012

I have been an A Silent Film fan for a little more than three years. Their music is so captivating, lyrically and melodically. The City that Sleeps was a stand out album on it's own and will always be one of my favorites. The anticipation for "Sand & Snow" was well worth the four year wait between album releases. For anyone not aware, the band had plenty of material to produce a second album but once they migrated into the United States to tour behind The City that Sleeps, everything changed for singer/lyricist Robert Stevenson. Any old material was scrapped and Robert began a new writing process reflective of his experiences in America. Seeing them tour over the last year and a half gave some insight to their new material and I was awestruck from the first note. It was completely breathtaking. Ever since I purchased "Sand & Snow" on June 5, 2012 it's been on constant rotation either on my iPhone or in my car stereo. From the first note in "Reaching the Potential" to the last in "Thousand Mile Race", the album takes you on a ride that you don't want to get off. There are very few albums where I can honestly say that I do not skip a single track and this is definitely one of them. Each track effortlessly flows into the one another and sends you on a journey of wonderment. This album, in my honest opinion, is one of the most skillfully written pieces of art and should be shared/enjoyed by many! Sand & Snow is easily my favorite album of 2012 and you will be doing a huge disservice if you let this fall by the waste side.
Robert Stevenson, Spencer Walker, Ali Hussain and Karl Bareham make up a quartet of such gifted musicians and it shows within this album. I highly recommend everyone check this album out as well as see them on tour, if you haven't already! Their stage presence alone will blow you away plus it will give you the chance to chat with the gents. They are very humble and grateful to their fans and it will always show. Oh yeah, Like them on Facebook(www.facebook.com/asilentfim), Follow them on Twitter(www.twitter.com/asilentfilm) and subscribe to them on YouTube. They have just began releasing unrehearsed, unedited and completely raw footage of them performing their songs, as well as cover songs, as a gift to their fans. Elegantly title "The Sycamore Tapes", it's a wonderful treat to anyone interested!! I know A Silent Film is a short time away from becoming huge, so check them out now!!
I would recommend this to a friend!
