I bought the first 4K TV LG put out in 2014 and have been very happy with it and still use it in another room after I replaced it with this new one. I had been holding out to get my next 4K until something that supported HDR10 and Dolby Vision was available and this TV does not disappoint. I also have the Samsung Ultra HD Blu-Ray player to get the best 4K content possible on this thing.
I have watched the 4K Blu Rays; LIFE OF PI, SALT, X-MEN, MAD MAX, THE MARTIAN and a few others and they all look spectacular. THE MARTIAN looks the best in my book, and LIFE OF PI comes in a close second. I have watched several regular Blu-Rays and they all looked good too and noticeably better in some cases. Not all regular HD content looks better and sometimes the flaws are more obvious on this TV, but in general everything looks better.
The picture doesn't look its best when it comes out of the box and I recommend some tweaking to get it the way you like it. Turn of the Motion blur stuff and adjust HDR to way you prefer it and definitely turn of local dimming.
It took a few days of tweaking for me to get it were I like it for different content. In general the picture seems much darker than most screens and that I believe is do to the deeper blacks, higher contrast rates and HDR compatibility. The blacks on this TV are darker than anything you have ever seen on a TV and they add a depth and level of detail that isn't there on even the best non-HDR 4K televisions. The picture is also brighter in a much different way than we are used to with most televisions, you have to see it to appreciate it.
As with other LGs their interface is very easy to use and has some nice features the other interfaces don't. This TV also does a great job detecting your equipment and automatically selecting the right input for whichever active port you are using.
I have a 4K DirecTV geni attached to this TV too, and while the picture doesn't look enhanced, it is very clear. I was worried the higher resolution would make the 720 1080 content on the TV look bad, but it doesn't. It looks just fine. Great TV.
Also, looks great with streaming 4K content... I have watched Netflix and YouTube and been happy with it.
I had been waiting for this TV to come out since it was one of the first to support the latest and greatest specs and it doesn't disappoint.
