You will want to play around with different cameras to explore the lens pincushion you will get.
Architecture is one of those things that can be difficult to shoot. A very large zoom range on a lens will most likely give you some problems at the wide and long end of the range... distortion (pincushion) will be very visible if take a picture of a brick wall, building, etc. where you would never notice it if taking landscape pictures.
I would look for an inexpensive DSLR with a wide fixed lens.
