Awesome Sub!!

Subwoofer's are one of the most important pieces of a home theater but often times they do not get the praise or respect they deserve. A good subwoofer can help elevate your system to new levels. It can help hide some deficiencies of your speakers but only if you have a good sub. If you just pick any sub and do not get one that will help your speakers it will not make as much of an impact.
That being said this Klipsch subwoofer packs a punch, it goes so well with the Klipsch speakers I have and it helps round out the sound from the speakers. For being a big black square it sure does look really good. The design and especially the copper color of the cone looks great.
If i had to make one complaint is that the light to signify if the speaker is on or off is on the front of the speaker behind the grill and it can be hard to see unless you are looking directly at it. I personally prefer it on the rear so if i need to check if my sub is working a quick glance in the back and I can see if the light is on while I make adjsutments.

Good Step Forward With Small steps Back
on July 20, 2018

Onkyo Has been a staple in my home theaters for several years now, and with me needing a receiver that could pass through Dolby Vision it was a good time to upgrade.
The receiver offer plenty of inputs for all of my devices and was easy to install and set up. The AccuEQ did an ok job setting up my speakers but kept bumping up my subwoofer level to insane levels. I had to manually adjust the levels on most of the speakers afterwards.
The new remote is a welcome change compared to the older ones that had what felt like a million buttons. So having a new remote that had the same functions with less buttons were nice.
Being THX certified is nice feature that was usually reserved for some of the higher end Onkyo Receivers. My only complaints have more to do with what my old receiver had that this newer one does not. On my older receiver there was a menu option that would let you set what Audio codec you wanted applied to each input when you first turn on the receiver. It was nice because I could set each input to the setting I liked and it would start up again there even if my wife or kids changed something while they were using it.
The new receiver does not have this and from what I can tell it just reverts to the last mode you were using on that input which is great if does not get touched, but my wife and kids have a tendency to accidentally change something. Which then when I turn it on I have to manually set it back to the mode I like.
Besides those two gripes everything else about the receiver I love the design is excellent it looks very nice sitting in my entertainment center and the sound is great it has no problems pushing my system.

Highly Recommended Center For Home Theater
on July 20, 2018
Posted by: masc360

A big problem a lot of people have when putting together a home theater system is the center speaker. It arguably the most important one to your entire set up. Yet very often there are big and bulky, which often times makes it hard to set up in an entertainment center.
The Klipsch R-34C helps alleviate some of these issues by being smaller but has quad woofers. When I first saw the speaker I thought it would not do a very good job especially next to the huge Klipsch Towers, But I was glad to be proven wrong.
Everything I threw at it came in clear and easy to hear. even at lower volumes I did not have any issues hearing any characters speak on screen.
The design of the Unit is also very nice, with most center speakers looking like huge rectangular blocks it was nice to have a different design.
If your building a home theater system I would recommend this system and if your short on space I would recommend it even more.

Best Dolby Atmos speaker available
on July 18, 2018
Posted by: masc360
from Hollister, CA
I love the Dolby Atmos format, but it is hard to generally recommend any Atmos speakers because the best speakers for Atmos are different for most people. Yet these Klipsch Dolby Atmos speakers are the first one that I can just recommend to anyone.
My biggest gripe with most Dolby atmos speakers is that they are not full fledged speakers they cannot handle being "normal speakers" in a setup which I think is a big mistake.
These Klipsch speakers can essentially function as regular speakers which helps them sound better than most and because you can wall mount them or place on top of speaker you can best sound possible in your room.
The new design of the reference line is great and these look excellent.
I highly recommend them

Great speakers forovies or music
on July 18, 2018

Klipsch has a long standing in the speaker business so my expectations for these speakers was very high.
I am very happy to say these speakers blew me away with their design and sound.
Listening to music was a great pleasure. The separation of all the sounds was so great. Most speakers tend to flatten everything together and with these Klipsch I could hear everything.
Watching movies was the same the separation these speakers can achieve for all of the sounds adds to the atmosphere of the movies soundtrack. It was such a joy to try several different movies and the Klipsch handle it with no problem.
Everyday after work I can't wait to get home and so I can listen to these speakers.

Solid Atmos Speakers
on July 12, 2018
Posted by: masc360
from Hollister, CA
Dolby Atmos or DTS:X are amazing audio formats, they bring some much depth to audio soundtracks. I have been a fan since day 1 and upgrade as quickly as I could when it became available.
The only issue is that everyone has a different room for their home theater so you have to try and see what works best for you.
That is what I like so much about these speakers they give you the versatility to put them in different spots to give you the best sound for your room.
These are Atmos speakers so they will not give you the range that you typically get from a normal bookshelf or rear speaker, So I do not recommend you use these as rear speakers.
In my room they worked best as height speakers, I did put them on top of my towers and they do work, but the Atmos effect was more noticeable when I mounted them as height speakers.
The speakers did everything I asked of them and they sound great. they also are excellent looking and designed very well.

A Great Receiver For A Home Theater
on June 24, 2018
Posted by: masc360
from Hollister, CA
The first receiver I had ever bought was Yamaha and I loved it. That was my first foray into home theater equipment, and I have been hooked ever since.
Most of the receiver's I've owned have been Onkyo's and that has usually been because I had been able to find one on sale. Yet I always wanted to go back to Yamaha.
I had tried other companies like Onkyo, Pioneer and Denon and even though many of those brands are good I just always wanted to go back.
So when I needed to upgrade my receiver I jumped at the chance to upgrade to this Yamaha. This receiver is perfect for all my needs. It has Dolby Vision pass through which my old receiver did not and has plenty of hdmi connections and it also has a couple of pre-outs for the front speakers.
If I have one complaint from the receiver is the remote control is not very good. It is humongous and while it does have programmable buttons it is a pain to have to scroll through the inputs when you want to change your input.
It is also not a deal breaker but my previous receiver did have a hdmi input on the front which was great if i needed to connect something quickly or temporarily without having to take the whole thing out so i could get to the back of the receiver.
Besides those very small flaws everything about the receiver has been great . It sounds amazing and being able to have all the 4k passthrough has made connecting all my devices much easier.
If you are looking for a new receiver I highly recommend this one.

Great Computer With Minimal Space Needed
on June 22, 2018
Posted by: masc360
from Hollister, CA
This is the first All In One Computer I have ever had, I normally stay away from AIO just because they usually have to compromise some of the parts to get everything into the small frame, But I needed another computer as two of my kids are getting older and started to need the use of computers and having one computer just leads to many fights.
My only issue was I didn't really have the space for another computer.
This Lenovo AIO solves the space issue and looks great. It has a lot of great features including the touch screen which I was surprised at how responsive it is. While the computer is a tad bit slower than my tower PC the computer has been able to run anything I throw at it.
I will say that if you are looking to play games I would not recommend a computer like this as with the integrated GPU you will not be able to run a lot of games. But for enterprise or school work or even browsing the internet this PC has been wonderful.
If you are looking for an All In One PC I highly recommend you look into this Lenovo.

This is What The Future Of Chromebooks Should Be
on June 19, 2018
Posted by: masc360
from Hollister, CA
Let me start off with this when Google first announced chromebooks I thought they were a good idea that one day could compete with Laptops. Fast forward several years and laptops are not the big player in the market Tablets are. So when I read about this HP Chromebook that while still a chromebook could be used kind of like a tablet I thought that is a good idea but will probably not work very well.
I am glad to report that it works great, This is what I believe chromebooks should lean towards being this hybrid between tablets and laptops. Everything works great and the system is very responsive and easy to use. Dont get me wrong chrome OS still needs more work and I thin more apps need to become compatible for this to really take hold, but I think this is a very good start.
The system looks really good and it feels like a premium product the build quality is excellent and the battery life has been very good so far. being able to use it like a Tablet has made it easier to use on the go than I expected and the stylus pen it came with work really well.
Overall there is not much I can complain about except that chrome os needs more apps, But I think that will happen over time.
until then I still Highly recommend if your in the market for a chromebook to get this one.

Solid Earbuds With Ok Battery Life
on May 31, 2018
Posted by: masc360
from Hollister, CA
I do not have too much experience with earbuds as I am usually someone that uses over ear headphones, But i found myself needing some earbuds for when I am driving to and from work.
So far these have been great, I appreciated the fact that they have different earbud sizes in the package so you can switch them if the size they come in does not fit.
The sound quality was much better than I ever expected from earbuds, while it never quite rivaled what you get from really good over the ear I was surprised how good they sounded.
My only big complaint about the earbuds is the battery life, you get about 3 hours a charge on the headphones and the case can hold 2 charges so you can use them for about 9 hours before they need a charge. while that is pretty good for one day use trying to stretch that out for multiple days is tough without having to recharge the case.
The unit will tell you the battery level by telling you if it is high, medium or low. I wish it could give you a percentage to give you a better idea of how much time you have.
overall these are very solid earbuds that sound great but have a average battery life.

How many speakers will it support?

I'm new to the world of AV receivers...

How many speakers will this support? I've got four(4) inside the house for surround sound, and two(2) on the porch. Will it support all six, in two zones?

Thanks for your help!
It will support two zones, but you need an exterior amp to power the speakers on the second zone.
