The best phone on the market. Period.
on September 19, 2016

I will start by stating that I usually don't take the time to write reviews for products, but after using this phone since launch day, I felt compelled to let everyone know my thoughts.
I've used basically every "big" phone (pun intended) on the market, including the likes of the Galaxy Note 7, the S7 Edge, LG G5, etc. Though on paper the majority of these phones have slightly better specs than the new iPhones, they don't hold a candle in comparison. For example, my experience on Samsung phones as of late has been terrible, with poor software optimization to the point that the phone just crawls in performance doing pretty much any task. My experience with LG and Motorola's phones were significantly better, probably due to the better software optimization of Android, but nothing gets close to the buttery smooth performance of the new iPhone. Let's run down some of the key features of the iPhone 7 Plus specifically, with my thoughts on each one:
Display:
The display on this phone is incredible. Regardless of the fact that it still has a 1080p display, it has the best color reproduction of any major phone out right now. Not only that, but the screen incorporates the same color optimizing technology included on the new iPad Pro 9.7", which is to say that the color adjusts to your surroundings and lighting conditions.
Speakers:
The inclusion of stereo speakers on the new iPhones is really great, especially for conference calls. Watching videos is a much more enjoyable experience, though these speakers aren't going to replace your top of the line bluetooth speakers when playing your favorite music.
Camera:
The camera on the 7 Plus is really something else. It uses a dual camera system for better zooming, which is a nice feature. The camera is also the best in low light situations that I've ever seen out of a phone, which is probably due to both the optics and the quad-LED flash. Photos are crisp and true to color during favorable lighting conditions.
Home Button:
Well, here's the thing...it doesn't have one. Really, though, Apple did place it's Touch ID sensor that LOOKS like a home button in the same place they always have, it just doesn't move anymore. Instead, it uses Apple's Force Touch technology to give haptic feedback when you press it, which feels really nice. It takes about a day to get used to, but going back to physical home buttons after this feels very...clumsy.
Performance:
This phone flies. Seriously, it's faster than some of the Macbooks from recent years as far as raw processing power goes, with Apple's A10 chip balancing both performance and battery saving into one monster combination.
Battery Life:
The iPhone 6S Plus had really fantastic battery life, and the 7 is no different. In fact, it's even better this year. In day to day use, I've only had to charge this thing twice in 4 days. That's pretty incredible, and comes in handy when you don't have a charger near you.
That about wraps its up....Wait! Yeah, you know that missing headphone jack that everyone is upset about? It's not really a big deal. Probably the biggest downside is that you can't listen to music and charge your phone at the same time unless you're using bluetooth headphones, but Apple includes a headphone adapter in the box along with the phone, so the transition is pretty easy.
Buy this phone, you won't regret it!

A Great Little Mouse from Logitech
on March 3, 2012
Posted by: sportsinger75
from Eau Claire, WI
I should start out by saying that over the past few years, I've used quite a few mice, specifically those of the wireless type. I've tried out big bulky gaming ones to small and sleek ones like the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse. That being said, I enjoyed using the Logitech M315. It has its downfalls, but overall, I'd recommend it to a friend down the road. Here's my list of pros and cons for the device to help you make the best decision in whether or not to buy the mouse for your personal or work use.
Pros:
- The mouse is small, which makes it easy to throw in a bag and take along to work or school (or wherever you're going for that matter). It's not as portable as other mice out there, but for the price, you really can't go wrong.
- It tracks well on many surfaces, and emits a good response. I didn't have a problem with the mouse not working on most of the surfaces I tested it on, but it worked sufficiently enough. I did have trouble on glass as is expected with a mouse of this caliber, but a simple mouse pad would remedy this.
- Connection is simple. All you've really got to do is plug in the USB host adapter to your computer (which is just a small dongle that can be lose easily if you don't keep track of it) and your computer will install the mouse drivers. I haven't tested this on an Apple computer, but I'm sure it would work just the same. After your initial connection, you should be able to tweak the mouse's performance in the settings of your computer. In fact, you'll likely want to tweak the speed of the mouse, as it is a bit touchy (more on this in the "cons" section).
Cons:
- As stated earlier, one of my least favorite things about the mouse was it's initial response after setup. It tracks well, as I stated earlier, but it is EXTREMELY touchy. It was hard to control where my cursor was on the screen at first, and I needed to go into the Windows 7 settings and adjust the speed of the mouse to help out. This made it better, but not completely.
- The build quality of the mouse is a bit suspect to me. Though that is to be expected due to the mouse's price range, it is made out of plastic and I'm just not sure how well the mouse would hold up to regular wear and tear over a great deal time. Only time will tell, I suppose.
- While scrolling with the mouse's built-in scroll wheel was decent, it wasn't completely accurate and enjoyable. Page scrolling was sometimes erratic, making for a frustrating experience.
- Lastly, I'm not a fan of wireless dongles. The Logitech M315 uses a small wireless dongle to connect to your computer, which is annoying because it takes up valuable USB space and can be easily lost. Such is the plight of many of these wireless mice, however.
So that's my review of the Logitech M315 wireless compact mouse. It's a nice little mouse for someone who either needs a mouse for on the go or at home, but it's clearly not the best out there. That being said, I'm not too sure it tries to be. It requires batteries for operation, but so far, I've had no problems with connecting and sustaining battery life.
What's great about it: Great tracking, easy setup, compact
What's not so great: Erratic speed and tracking, wireless dongle takes up valuable USB space, suspect build quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

A Solid Solid Wireless Headset with Multiple Uses
on January 25, 2012
Posted by: sportsinger75
from Eau Claire, WI
It's tough nowadays to find a good pair of headphones that you can use for a myriad of things like listening to music, watching movies, or even talking on the phone or via video chat. It's even harder to find a pair of headphones that can be used for these things without having to fumble with an annoying cord or a compatible audio jack. The Logitech H800 wireless headphones attempt to provide a remedy to the cord situation by freeing you from them while offering many use-case scenarios as well. Overall, they do a great job and should offer plenty of enjoyment for many users out there looking for a great, affordable pair of wireless headphones.
I wanted to first talk a bit about the build quality of the headphones. After all, whats the use of having a great pair of headphones if they're just going to feel flimsy and breakable after just a few uses? I'm happy to say that the Logitech H800 headset is solid enough for the average user. It's body is made out of plastic, but it's quite sturdy. On top of that, there's some nice cushioning for extra comfort while wearing them on the headband itself. These headphones don't surround your ears. Rather, they are the conventional "over-the-ear" type of headphones, so they wont cancel out background noise too well. That's important to keep in mind, especially if you're someone who takes trips on airplanes a lot or spends a lot of time listening to music in a busy, loud environment. The included microphone that extends from the headset at the user's desire is a bit flimsy for my tastes, but it does the job. Just make sure you don't bend it too far, as it feels as though it could break.
The functionality of the headset is quite good, as it offers plenty of options for basic phone and computer functions. You'll be able to answer calls, pause and skip music tracks, increase volume, and even store the small USB receiver right on the headset itself. It's quite convenient and works very well with my testing.
One cool thing about the headset is that it offers a couple of different ways to interact with your electronic devices. First off, it's bluetooth compatible, so you can easily sync it up with your phone, tablet, or even computer. Sound quality through bluetooth is absolutely fantastic, and signal strength is great as well. In my testing, I was able to connect my HTC Rezound to the headphones via bluetooth and still get signal strength and great sound from across the house. Making calls from the headphones with the microphone was fantastic as well, as callers could hear me very clearly and I had no problems hearing them. On the other hand, if your computer doesn't have bluetooth, the headset comes with a small USB receiver that is very similar to those included with wireless mice and keyboards. I had no problems connecting the headset with that either, and it worked flawlessly on my Windows 7 PC. Sound quality through the receiver, however, was not so good. More on that later.
In order to have a great pair of headphones, sound quality must be pretty good, especially if you're paying a hefty price. That being said, the Logitech H800 headset offered fantastic audio quality over bluetooth. Music was crisp and clear, and bass response was also sufficient. Even at the highest volumes, I didn't hear any crackling or distortion. The same cannot be said, however, when listening to music or watching video through the USB receiver on my Windows 7 PC. It seemed as though when the volume was increased, I could hear faint crackling and distortion with sound. It became especially apparent when there was a lot of bass or heavy guitar riffs in music. It's not as noticeable with video playback, but it's bothersome nonetheless.
Overall, I'd say that the Logitech H800 is a great, affordable pair of wireless headphones for the average consumer. They offer great portability with their fold-up feature, and they serve many uses.
What's great about it: Clear audio and great sound over bluetooth, many headset controls, various connectivity options, solid build
What's not so great: Sub-par audio output with USB receiver on PC's, no noise cancellation while listening to music, video, or calls

Great Deal, Great Computer
on May 2, 2011

from Eau Claire, WI
First off, I have to say, if you are on the fence about buying this laptop, you should immediately go and pick one up. It's a fantastic machine, and the price point is incredible for what you get. I'll run through some of the main features of the laptop and what I like/don't like about them, then you can decide whether or not it's the right laptop for you -
Screen:
The screen on this baby is pretty incredible. The clarity is simply amazing, and it's very bright. Though the resolution is not full HD (1080p), the 1600 x 900 resolution is perfect for basic to advanced needs, and it plays HD video with ease on full screen. The computer also comes with the ATI Radeon graphics, which are much better than the integrated graphics that come on newer Intel machines. This is an advantage of having an AMD processor.
Processor:
This processor (clocked at 2.6 GHz) is plenty for everyday use and even some heavy use with many applications open. AMD has worked to really redefine their chipsets, and the dual-core ability of this one is very nice. If you're comparing it to an Intel machine, it would be safe to say that it is comparable to Intel's new Core i3 processor. On battery saving mode, the processor will switch it's use depending on what you're doing.
Ram:
Ram is plenty for what most people will use this machine more. However, if you're going to be doing a lot of multi-tasking, you can certainly upgrade the Ram to up to 8 GB, which is what I did.
Hard Drive:
This might be something that can hurt the rating on this computer, as it only comes with a 5400 RPM drive, but to the average user, it won't make a difference. It's 500 GB, which is plenty for all of your music and videos. If you wan't the hard drive is upgradable too, and if you put a solid state drive in it (which you can buy at Best Buy), this thing will be absolutely SCREAMING fast. I would highly recommend the upgrade to the solid state drive.
Keyboard:
The keyboard is very nice on this, and it has a full number pad as well, useful for some people. It's not backlit, which is a downside, but there aren't many computers out there that are.
Touchpad:
The touchpad is simply great. You can turn it off and on if you want to use an external mouse instead, and it's very responsive when using it. The added texture makes it feel great to use too.
Battery Life:
When you first get this computer, you'll probably notice that the battery will drain quickly the first few times you use this. DON'T BE ALARMED! With most computer batteries, you need to do a few full charge cycles (running the battery down to nothing, then recharging it to full a few times) before you can get the full capacity of this battery. That being said, it will get you about 4 hours after a few charge cycles. PEOPLE NEED TO BE A BIT MORE PATIENT WITH BATTERY LIFE! Don't automatically assume this battery is horrible after the first use!
Wrap-up:
Maybe I forgot something, but either way, this laptop is a great deal. For the price you pay, you get some excellent specs and speed, and a great screen size. I'll never go back to anything smaller than 17.3 inches myself!
What's great about it: Screen size and quality, great price, speed, minimum fan noise
What's not so great: Initial battery life, though it does improve!
I would recommend this to a friend!

what laptop is the fastest

There are plenty of laptops that are really speedy, so it's really hard to pinpoint the fastest one. Generally, the speed of your laptop is determined by several things, including your processor, your hard drive, and your installed memory. The fastest laptops out there offered by Best Buy are probably the ones carrying the Intel i7 processor chip, but they're quite expensive. The general rule about laptops is that the faster they are, the more expensive they are. I'll add what I think are the speediest laptops in my product recommendations. Good luck!
