Due to the fact I am the parent of 4 children in my household and it is a "blended" family, I try to allow my oldest kid's dad the chance to buy this for them yearly. Since he has never managed to get it for them due to one excuse or the other, I buy it for them instead. The history is why I don't just sign up for a family account (LOL although I would probably save more money that way). I have 3 Xbox 360's in my house and I won't pay $60 for live for each box since I primarily use the PS3. However, when it is on sale I usually buy the 1 year subscription for my kids to be able to play with their family that doesn't live with us. This was a great deal for buying the Xbox 360 yearly subscription, I just wish I could've bought three so I could have gotten the deal for each of my children. Unforunately online I am only allowed 1 purchase per person and I live a ways away from an actual store, so that's a bummer. Oh well, bottom line, good sale price and worth it if you have only 1 box : -)
What's great about it: This item was on sale for half off, great deal!
What's not so great: I could only buy one and I have 3 Xbox 360's in my house : -(

Very nice to see this movie all cleaned up!

I never upgraded this VHS tape to DVD, so for me the changes were more dramatic then they may have been for others. I love this movie and thought the upgrade to bluray was necessary since my kids are getting to the age now to watch more movies. This was done very well, while it wasn't as breathtaking as the cleanup of The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast...it was created in a different era when computer graphics wasn't used but the actual drawing and coloring of the artists instead. Due to this I give it 5 out of 5 stars! It looked great for what it is, and the sound was so much cleaner in the movie as well. Well worth the $20 spend on it!
What's great about it: Going from VHS to Blueray is remarkable!
What's not so great: If you love the age of this movie, it is all great!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Okay, I am going to try not to give too much of the movie away to any one that is hoping to go buy it.
Let me start with Ghost Rider is the best comic character ever!!! With that being said, that is the only reason I gave this movie a rating of 3 stars. I am a huge Ghost Rider fan and this movie really disappointed me. Moreau was a good character, Carion was a good character, Nic Cage was good too (when they didn't have him "extreme" acting and jittering around)...even the mother was a good character in it. Unfortunately Sony screwed this movie up so bad by changing Danny's story line, they could've easily made this into the Spirit of Vengeance comic line w/ Blaze losing most of his power but still helping out the new rider, and Danny becoming the new Ghost Rider would've been a great lead into future movies...but instead they came out with this mixed up decayed script and filming that was an ultimate failure. Ghost Rider doesn't levitate, he doesn't drive a cruddy looking bike, his biker gear/clothes don't look like burnt marshmellows would...the direction of this movie was horrible as it was made by the people that did Crank as a movie of Crank. While I love Crank it was not the way to do a comic movie, too jittery way too often in the movie...made it cheesy and lame. This movie should have had more ties to the first since that one had a much better story, and again...it really didn't. Ultimately, if I wasn't a huge fan of Ghost Rider I would've never seen this in theater or bought the bluray (so I guess they win since I did still buy the bluray).
Another disappointment was Best Buy had an exclusive steel book case if you reserved your copy early. I reserved mine as soon as it was available and there was supposed to be combo disc sets as there are with most movies these days. When I went to buy the movie I was told that it was a last minute change by the company (Sony) to make more money by only selling individual discs...WTH? My kids follow my lead and look up to me and they like most of the same things I do. I am a huge Ghost Rider fan, so they follow suit. How disappointed they were to see the bluray didn't come w/ a DVD copy for them to watch in their room. Another disappointment since there is no way I would ever pay double the cost for this movie. I will have to wait for it to join part 1 int he $5.00 DVD bin before they ever get a copy to watch on their DVD players...what a let down.

With low expectations, it is what you would expect

First off, it is sad to see how many people who review this on other sites bash Kate Beckinsale for her stripping down in this film. It isn't much more then what you see on every movie these days...stripping to the undergarments then it's done...nothing offensive or too revealing. Besides that, the movie itself had a lot of promise for it being a mystery of the first murder in Antarctica, but it's the same as every other murder mystery. Bad guy has objective, bad guy kills whom ever gets in his way to achieving objective, good guy figures out objective, conditions of surrounding environment make things difficult to resolve conflict. We'll end right there so not to give anything away, but the movie itself...if you can watch it with out expecting much of anything, was entertaining enough to sit through and it moves pretty quickly so that's a plus too.
What's great about it: it's a short movie...worth checking out if you aren't expecting an award winning movie...
What's not so great: many different things...lol...
I would recommend this to a friend!

About time we get a descent space scifi movie!

This movie reminded me of Event Horizon meets Alien...others said a bit of Mad Max in there too...and I guess I can see that as well...just not as much. The movie itself is a bit of a thinker, and if you go into watching it with out a huge wall of expectations you'll really enjoy it! Personally I didn't expect much out of it, the story sounded good but knowing how space movies have been lately...I was a bit skeptical. I was very surprised on the acting and story, some things jumped a round a bit to different points and weird/lightly cheesy parts...but all in all...it was worth buying on bluray and I've watched it several times since.
What's great about it: It was a very entertaining movie!
What's not so great: I wish it would've been longer to go more into a couple points.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good addition to the Harry Potter franchise...

The story was good and well told for a movie. The only down side was a lot of time (I'd say about half the movie) focused on relationships and character's in love rather then the issues at hand with Valdermort and Dumbldor. All in all, great movie and a fine addition to the Harry Potter series!
What's great about it: The story was really well told, even though a lot was left out from the books...
What's not so great: A lot of focus on the love relationships of Harry, Ron, Herminy and Jenny...
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good "Start of" the FBI movie

All in all, a great movie. I had to watch it twice to fully enjoy it due to I was expecting more of the gangsters lifestyles rather then the FBI story...but after watching it the second time I truely enjoyed it. Great film for anyone interested in the older times and wanting to learn bits of how the FBI was started.
What's great about it: It is a good, and brief, story of the start of the FBI.
What's not so great: I was hoping for more on the bank heists and the gangsters of the time to be included more.
I would recommend this to a friend!

3D fx is awesome!!

This movie is excellent in 3D! Between the bluray and the HD television it's a great film to watch in 3D. For anyone who's watched Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3D on their televisions, this is a huge improvement to the fx used on that. The story itself was entertaining, a bit predictable in parts...but what hasn't been done in a horror film these days? The cast had very good chemistry with one another too, which made the film more enjoyable. All around well worth the purchase for $26.00 on sale, for both the 3D and 2D version along with the digital copy for your pc's...very good buy!!!
What's great about it: The 3D special FX!
What's not so great: story was a bit predictable...but not too bad...
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent Marvel Movie!!!

This was a very well done film. As a marvel fan of many years, I must admit Iron Man isn't a film I was looking forward to seeing (in the comics he's pretty dull and full of himself, not my type of favorite character). My fiance purchased this movie for me on Blueray and it was phenominal. Robert Downy Jr. did a great job mixing in his attitude and humor into the role of Tony Stark (Iron Man) and made this a movie that can be watched again and again. This Blueray is done in the finer quality where it takes a moment to load, but is well worth the wait. It has great additional features, and is amazing to watch in 1080! I strongly recommend to anyone who likes Marvel, Robert Downy Jr., or is looking for an action/adventure movie for the kids...this movie is well worth the purchase!
What's great about it: Robert Downy Jr. did a phenominal job as Iron Man
What's not so great: After credits rolled, I didn't care for the 'Nick Fury' bit...
I would recommend this to a friend!
