I am a big horror fan and also a big fan of the original Friday the 13th film so I was a little sceptical when I first heard this remake was being made. However its by the same guys that did the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake so this calmed my nerves a little bit as I actually enjoyed the TCM remake, nowhere near as good as the original but a very good effort at making the film for a new generation. This is pretty much the same case here, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this film. I watched it with my sister and she jumped quite a bit during the last 30 minutes or so.
I liked the story of the brother going back to look for his sister as it added a different little twist on the straight forward story of the original. There are a few familiar faces in the film, Jared Padalecki who stars in the series Supernatural gives a decent performance here as the brother looking for his sister, also Danielle Panabaker, Mr Books movie, is excellent as ever in this slasher film, playing as the girl who help nice boy find his sister lockup in Jason's home.
If you are a horror fan this is definately worth a watch, I am now a fan of the original and of the remake. Trust me you won't be dissappointed.
What's great about it: You will have Good time with this one
What's not so great: Most of Characters are just teens getting drunk
This movie is based on a true story that is supposed to test your resolve, and ultimately your faith.
Emily Rose who was a ordinary teenage girl who was supposed to be the target of terrifying demonic attacks, but was she as many believe possessed, or just a moody teenager that did not get out much ,who need something else in her apart from demons? The choice is yours.
as a film it does fall between two stools, half is a supernatural exorcist light, the other is a court room drama. Even so, strangely enough the film works, being able to be both scary as hell and gripping. Never is the film as disturbing as the Exorcist, but this has to be one of the best possession movies in a very long time. A very good and un-nerving thriller, that may not test your faith, but will give you something to think about after the movie has ended.
