STUFF BLOWS UP!!! Funny one liners are said!

That's pretty much it! :)
When doing a rating of a movie, you are given the option to individually rate plot, cinematography and acting.
I chose to skip those options because if you care about these things in your action movie, The Expendables is not the tree up which you should bark.
This is a loosely thrown together vehicle that finally gives a chance for people's favorite action film stars from the last 3-ish decades to share the screen and say cheesy things to each other while blowing stuff up, making blood splatter and bad guys fall over.
That being said, I LOVED IT! My wife and I laughed our way through this film as you can't help but give an involuntary little cheer each time another of your favorites melodramatically steps on screen. They spout cheesy line after tired cliche and all the while shoot the bad guys, blow stuff up and get out of really dangerous situations.
It could aptly be called Deus Ex Machina, but that may or may not have lost much of their intended audience. ;)
Did I mention they blow stuff up?
What's great about it: Stuff blows up.
What's not so great: It ended before I was ready to stop watching stuff blow up.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Enjoyable, nice free-time distraction

Not a bad way to spend the afternoon, but I suggest you be in the mood for it. It's got a bit of a Bladerunner feel to it, but more of a copy of Bladerunner than an original reimagining of what a future society might feel like.
The screenwriter's dialogue also leaves a bit to be desired. Most of the characters talk like each other in content and diction and little is done to differentiate characters through dialect, word choice or sentence structure. Characterization must be accomplished through the voice-acting or acting and is successful to greater and lesser degrees throughout the film.
This is not a cinematic tour-de-force by any stretch of the imagination, but the blending of computer animated characters and live-action actors is done pretty well. It's an interesting idea and story, but not as deep as I think the author originally intended. When the blending works, it's quite enjoyable, but when it doesn't, it will quickly jar you out of your suspension of disbelief mode that is necessary for most movies.
What's great about it: Blending of computer animation and live action- when itt works
What's not so great: Blending of computer animation and live action - when it doesn't

This 14.1-megapixel digital camera features optical image stabilization, face detection technology and motion detection technology to ensure images are clear and detailed. Smart Shutter technology automatically snaps a picture when the subject smiles or winks.

Small cameras are ALMOST there!

I'm a fan of this camera.
I've had several (8?) point and shoot digital cameras starting from my first which was a couple of pounds and boasted a whopping 600x800 pixel resolution.
Each generation has gotten better and better leading up to this one. My last two were Sony cameras, but the form factor of this camera was nice and simple and the reaction time of the shutter from button press was among the best in this style of camera.
It's not quite the speed of my DSLR Canon, but it's generally acceptable for use.
Pros
- automatic scene selection works well so handing it to someone else to take your picture is much less of a gamble than with other cameras.
- tiny size: fits in a guy's pocket quite easily.
- dedicated buttons and not a touch screen. Admittedly a personal preference, but the touch screen ones are impossible to use without taking your eyes away from the subject to read what you're trying to touch and making sure you're in the correct menu.
- SPEED OF PICTURE! This is a much improved when compared to past cameras of mine and other cameras that I played with while walking through various stores. Even at max photo resolution, the action is fairly quick: both from reacting to the button press and being ready to take a second picture. (note: I found the latter was improved by using a memory card with a faster write speed)
Rounded case corners make this a much more comfortable camera to have in your jeans pocket
- good placement and setup of the zoom lever. In the past I've preferred ones on the front of the camera (usually a little ring around the shutter button) but the little lever on the same face as the shutter button makes for stupid simple zoom to shutter button operation.
Cons:
- The ring of controls around the menu button. While a common setup in cameras of this size, a little more tactile distinction would make eyes-off operation much easier. Trying to adjust flash/function setting in low light where it's difficult to see the labels on the back of the camera can be a bit of a hit or miss effort. Especially if you have larger hands like mine.
- Not quite as fast as a DSLR, but for 1/5 the price and size of that option, this is a (sort of) acceptable trade-off. The most common complaint (both that I make and hear) is that when someone presses the button, it takes so long to take the picture that whatever you saw through your viewfinder has disappeared or moved or stopped smiling or being cute etc. (please take note big camera companies!)
- panorama assist. I find this particular feature rather underwhelming in its execution.
In general for the price, this is a great little camera and does everything I need quite competently as a little point and shoot.
What's great about it: Very good automatic selection
What's not so great: back face controls a bit difficult to do by touch.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Finally!

As an avid trackball user for years (I've had probably 7 variants over the last ten+ years) I'm so happy that Logitech has made one that finally fits my needs. I prefer a trackball when using my laptop in a mobile setting since you never know how much space (or what kind of surface!) you'll have to work on.
Wireless Pros: After using their old wireless trackball for a year or so, I gave up on that since the wired receiver it used couldn't stand up to continuous setup and repacking the lack of strain relief on the wire led to damage. The wired one was a pain for all the same reasons that wired controllers are a pain in a mobile environment.
The new one combines the nano-receiver and has a place to store it when it's not plugged into your laptop. So convenient. I also notice no delay when compared to the wired version of the Logitech trackball used on my home system.
Trackball Pros: The ball action is extremely smooth with almost zero resistance and allows for precise control of your cursor: this is very important to me as I use it professionally for Photoshop editing and Illustrator drawing. I find this to be in direct contrast to Microsoft trackballs which have quite a bit of resistance to your thumb inputs in comparison, especially as the bearings get dirty. Oh - and this is very simple to clean by popping the ball out and swiping your fingers over the three bearing points.
The addition of the two buttons for forward and backwards are a nice touch and bring it more into line with more modern mice that are on the market. Given my druthers, I'd ruther have a trackball with the button selection a new mouse offers, however, this is a decided step in the right direction which leaves me as giddily happy after several weeks' hard use as I was when I first saw the box on a Best Buy shelf!
What's great about it: Smooth easy reliable performace
What's not so great: I can't control it with my mind. Okay - nothing I have found yet.
I would recommend this to a friend!
