this is the second album by the chicago area band the shadows of knight. this one has them sounding more like the yardbirds and doing more original material.there still is a healthy dose of blues standards also.bad little woman should have been a big hit.also included are bonus cuts of a couple more of their singles.this band should have been a lot bigger than they were.excellent early hard rock by lead singer jim sohns and the shadows of knight
this was one of my favorite hard rock albums of the 70's.a texas band who kind of sounded like deep purple musically and had a hit with the song doa.lucky in the morning and sable and pearl are my favorites.even though the album really rocks throughout none of the other songs have lyrics as morbid as doa, which is about dying in a plane crash.recommended to anyone who likes 70's style hard rock.
great album from one of the first bands with a hard rock sound.this album has many blues covers done in the rolling stones ,yardbirds fashion.included are the great hits gloria and the bonus singles oh yeah and somebody like me.well worth having if you enjoy hard rock.
I remember getting the edited vinyl version of this years ago. the sound is not that good ,may have been done off the live sound board.this the full concert cd version and though the sound isn't that much better ,it is alot of fun and worth having.iggy taunts the crowd and gets bottles and other debris threw at him.search and destroy and louie louie are alot of fun also.apparently this show was the end of iggy and the stooges.
this is the best mc5 album outside of their 3 original album releases.it has alternative cuts, plus songs from their singles before kick out the jams.the sound quality is also very good.a very good high energy rock and roll album.
on the previous album new and improved ,blue cheer changed their direction.on that album side 2 with randy holden continued their original style, too bad he didn't stay to complete the record.on side 1 the line up for the self titled blue cheer album appeared.the style at this point changed to mainstream rock.blue cheer continues mainsream rock on this album also with hello l.a. bye bye birmingham being the best of the lot.fool is also a very good song.this is a very good album but the problem is the drastic change in style from the previous 2 and a half albums.
here is the first primative stooges album.i remember people either really liked or disliked this one.i really liked it and after several plays i really started to understand what they were all about.no fun and 1969 are the best of the lot and i will fall is sort of filler.the sound was hard high energy rock with songs in the louie, louie and glora vein.a very interesting and important album for that time forseeing punk and grundge.
the stooges second album was a progression forward musically.this album also found them adding the sax to some of their songs and to good effect.the only filler on this album is l.a. blues which is basically just sonic noise.my favorites are down on the street and 1970.recommended to anyone who likes high energy hard rock.
on the second mc5 album i remember how surprised i was at how different they sounded.thin recording sound and tight short songs.it took me a couple listens to get used to it.my favorite songs are looking at you, tonight, and shaking street.tutti frutti and back in the usa are good but just filler.still a very strong album that's well worth having.
this the third mc5 album is kind of a cross between the first and second.sister ann, skunk and poison are my favorites.this is high energy rock and roll done by the band that did it best.at the time it didn't sell well, but now it is a classic still in print and selling.it's curious that best buy lists the mc5 as punk rock.
