Great phone.. Lousy Camera..

Really good phone. A bit of a pain to update to Marshmallow 6.0.1. Have to do it from your computer instead of just the phone. Once the phone is updated, it works great. Just as fast as my Motorola Nexus 6 phone that it replaced due to cell disconnect issues.. The only thing I'll miss from the Motorola is the camera. Best phone cam I've ever seen. This phone uses Sony's sensor and in my opinion, ruined it. Lousy, noisy low light images.. Even HDR images suck compared to the Motorola.. Oh well, if you don't care about the quality of pics from a phone then this is a great phone. Display is nice and bright without being washed out. Runs video and everything smooth with very little if any lag. Battery life is about average for a smart phone. Cell signal's not as strong as the Motorola but if you're in an area with good coverage, you'll be fine. All in all, this is a very good phone, especially for the price. Only con for me is the camera..

I was not expecting this level of quality from a "bottom of the barrel" A/V receiver when I purchased it to replace a much more expensive Marantz receiver. All I can say is wow! It has absolutely no problems powering my big ol' NHT 2.9's. The 5.1 setup was a snap and didn't need any adjustments afterward unlike most, with the exception of speaker size. Everything works perfectly and no problems with the remote. HDMI has no handshake issues at all. I wanted to try out the built in Burr Brown 192 DACs so I hooked up my Auralic Aries Mini music streamer and listened to some TIDAL hi-res music and once again, completely amazed.. The Aries has the highly regarded ESS Sabre DAC built in. Bypassing theirs and using the Yamaha's required a digital coax connection instead of the analog rca's. After some run in time, I couldn't tell any difference between the two. Clean, smooth perfect sound is all I can say. Bass is tight and punchy, mids are just right and highs are smooth and clean without being raspy and brittle.. Truthfully, this receiver sounds like a much higher model in their lineup. If this is Yamaha's base model, I'd love to experience their top model. This has got to be the best sounding receiver I've heard yet and I've owned many. Hats off to Yamaha.

Totally Amazed!!!

I decided to purchases a pair of these while on sale, just to test if my cats would mess with bookshelf speakers, knock over, damage, etc. before spending big money on a real nice pair. After unhooking my Monitor Audio Bronze towers and hooking these up, I was dumbfounded.. Right out of the box, no real difference in sound. Had the same airy, sweet highs of the MA's C-Cam tweeters as well as the smooth, uncolored mids of the MA's midwoofer. Bass was surprising as well being taught and full without the cheap cabinet, boomy, muddy bass I was expecting. My jaw dropped to the floor as I sat there just after a few hours of run in time. I couldn't believe my ears.. I have them paired to a couple of Emotiva mono blocks with a Rega Cursa 3 preamp. All Straightwire cabling. If you're on a budget and want a really good pair of bookshelf speakers, try a pair of these. You will not be dissapointed. I don't think that I will be looking for replacements anytime soon..

If you thought the NS-B2111's sound good, you're gonna love these. To my ears, these are much more open without being grainy or harsh, or opposite of that and being veiled or cupped. Mid range is smooth without the lower end bloat the NS-B2111's exhibited.. To my surprise, they also have a "real" crossover in them mounted to the binding post wire connectors. Nicely done Insignia. At first listen, they sound constrained and compressed. After running them just a couple of hours with Pandora and my Playstation 3, they opened up quite nicely. Treble became more apparent. Mid range sounded less constrained and smoothed out nicely with some surprising low end shining through from time to time. I was not looking for anything spectacular with these, but I find myself quite surprised. I think you will too. I can't think of a better pair of speakers for the low price of $59.00.
What's great about it: Sound quality, well balanced midrange without any bloat.. Sweet treble without harshness.
What's not so great: Obvious lack of bass but that's what a subwoofer's for.

After trying two el G products and returning them both within days due to constant wi-fi drop connections, I needed to try something else or just say the heck with it.. I'm using Sony products on my main system so decided to give this a try. Glad I did. Sound wasn't impressive out of the box, but after watching a movie at a fairly loud level, the system opened up. Bass is tight with good punch. Just keep the sub level down in the speaker setup and you'll be rewarded. Too high a setting and it's boomy. Main speakers open up and sound less boxy and start producing nice, clear highs. Good midrange as well. Plus this system plays SACD's! How many budget systems can do that?? Menu is very good and easy to navigate. Internet based movie and music works great and wi-fi stays connected. Over all, a very nice system that's enjoyable to listen to.
What's great about it: Decent bass, wi-fi stays connected, good overall sound.
What's not so great: Surround settings could've been easier to switch on the fly..

No SACD...

Apparently, advertising is wrong for this particular model. After several attempts, this unit will not play SACD's.. SACD playback isn't even explained in the manual.. Oh well..

Much, much better than expected...

After running them in for a few weeks now, they have really begun to shine. I have them connected to my S*ny STR-DA5700ES receiver and I'm completely astounded.. If you have a top notch amplifier to power these, you will be in for a real treat. Highs are smooth as silk and are just right. Not too bright and not dull. I am noticing sounds and notes from instruments within the recordings that I haven't noticed before. And this is comparing them to a pair of large S*ny ED high-end, bi-wired towers.. I mostly listen to Jazz and Bossa Nova and these little guys do wonders for vocals, both male and female, and ambiance of the recordings. Spectacular imaging. I still can't believe I payed only $60 for a pair.. Despite what the other reviewer said, I highly recommend these, high end or not.

Useless review Billy....

Considering these speakers are rated to 80Hz, you're not going to hear a lot of bass. If you want bass, go for a much larger floorstander. Book shelf speakers are not designed to produce a ton of bass hence their small size. There main purpose is to produce life-like mids and highs which these do quite well. Accompanied with a good sub woofer, you will experience extremely good sound for their price period. Understand first before spouting nonsense...

can and/or how dose the speakers plug in to a tv

It can't. you need to have an amplifier in order to power them. You'd have to run an audio out cable from the tv to an amplifier or a/v receiver.
