Antenna location is important

The Sirius Radio installation made in conjunction with the new audio/nav system went well. My only comment is the preferred location of the satellite radio antenna for my car is on the dash next to the inside of the windshield. That in turn means receiving the signal is sensitive to closed in roadways and even adjacent trucks that shield the antenna from a sky view.

I have a convertible so the antenna will be placed on the dash. I am concerned about reception thru the windshield. Anyone have experience with that type of setup? Thanks.
Works fine for wide open areas. Some signal loss when driving on roads carved thru forests or when surrounded by semi trucks.
