Nice to even have this strange sequel on Blu-Ray. Not one of Craven's best, that's for sure, but still fun to watch. Very low budget - picture quality is probably best it will ever get. Bare bones set though - no commentary, etc.
Underrated Wes Craven film, officially available for the first time ever in America on DVD/Blu Ray (throw away those bootlegs) - with super picture quality, Wes Craven commentary, and cast interviews :)
Just beware that this is the edited version of the film. The uncut version is only on DVD - not on BluRay (which is strange). However, it is interesting to watch as it has alternate takes of certain scenes. For the Wes Craven completist.
Screan Factory is doing a wonderful job with their work on restoring Wes Craven, John Carpenter, and Tobe Hooper films in Special Collector's Editions. "Swamp Thing" has all the added benefits in the Scream Factory Series of great picture quality, director commentary, and cast/crew interviews.
This exhaustive set of Friday the 13th films includes eleven films including Friday the 13th, Friday the 13th Part 2, Friday the 13th Part 3, Friday the 13th - The Final Chapter, Friday the 13th Part V - A New Beginning, Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, Friday the 13th Part VII - The New Blood, Friday the 13th Part VIII - Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason Goes to Hell - The Final Friday, Jason X, Freddy vs. Jason, and the 2009 reboot Friday the 13th.
This box set is almost perfect. Every FRIDAY THE 13TH film (including "Jason vs. Freddy" and the 2009 Remake) in pristine condition and loaded with extras, a colorful booklet, and few other surprises in an attractive tin can. I know a lot of fans complain about the cut gore scenes not being re-instated into the films from the 80s, but - when available - they are added as supplements. If they're not added (particularly for Part 2 and 3), I truly believe the footage is gone for good. It was edited out and destroyed. It would have surfaced by now if it still existed. Only error in this set is that it has the R-rated version of "Jason Goes to Hell," and not the unrated. Oh, well - I still have my DVD copy of the unrated, so I stuck it into the box as my own supplement! LOL
