I picked this up on cyber monday 2017. Assembly was quick and pretty simple. I feel like it works better than my old Dyson animal and it's quite a bit more quiet during operation. Some of the attachments seem kind of gimmicky and there seem to be a LOT of little plastic clips and tabs at various connection points that are just begging to snap off rendering the entire part useless.
We'll see. Optimistic for now, haha...

Looks great in stainless!

I received this range after a series of issues with my Samsung 5100S gas range...Stove #1 (dmg'd in box) and stove #2 (dmg'd during installation) Best Buy upgraded me to this range for my troubles. The stainless steel top and the different knobs really make a difference both visually and functionally. The control knobs are made of a higher quality metal than the lower tier models and work smoothly. The stove burners work very well and really put out some controllable heat.
Visually, the unit is striking in all stainless: it really looks great in my kitchen and is quite easy to clean with some stainless steel wipes and a microfiber towel.
The oven is huge and has 3 racks. The slide out rack in the oven has been really handy as well as you can easily slide out the entire rack to check your food, add a pot/pan..etc without having to lean over or reach in and burn your knuckles on the rack, haha...
Cons:
My gripes with the range is that the buttons on the control panel can be hard to read as they are printed in a bright silver tone and sometimes you have to press fairly hard to get them to work.
The other issue , and this one seems semi-important, is that the oven seems to take a longer to pre-heat than my previous 2 samsung stoves and makes a lot of "bang/boom" sounds as something inside is flexing with the heat as it warms up. It feels like the oven vents an awful lot of heat out of the top vent as well...which may be why it seems to take longer to warm up. I've never owned an oven that makes so many pops and booms from expanding metal before. Not sure if this is normal for this model so you may want to look into that if you're thinking of buying this product.
Would be 5 stars but I knocked off 2 for the control panel and the questionable oven performance. Still something I'd recommend as I think the product is still quite good.

What is the best way to clean the cooktop? Water and a soft cloth?

A number of brands sell stainless steel wipes or a spray that you wipe on, let sit for a few seconds and then buff off. Seems to work nicely on mine.

How is the heat from the oven vented - to the outside?

It vents from a slot just below the display panel on the top of the stove. Puts out quite a bit of heat.

Is the finish smudgeproof?

Does the finish resist fingerprints?
No.

Definitely not smudge proof. Resistant perhaps but you'll definitely see prints and smears on the display panel and the steel. Thankfully there really isnt much of the stainless steel you'll actually be touching and I've found cleanup to be pretty painless with some stainless steel wipes/spray and a microfiber cloth.

is the fan supposed to turn on and off every few minutes when using the convection baking cycle?

A different convection oven I had - the fan stayed on the entire time. But not with this oven I just received. The fan turns off and on every few minutes (while I roasted some veggies at 450 for an hour)
Yes.

I believe somewhere in the guide it does say that the fan will alternate off and on while using the convection feature. This seems to be a samsung function.

I've noticed where an LG model will automatically change the set bake temperature to account for the convection but the Samsung just alternates the fan itself.
