Good for some. Not my thing.

When I picked these up I really liked the idea of a set of truly wireless earbuds. Upon opening the package I was impressed with how small the case was that held the earbuds. The case can be used to charge the earbuds so I guess I thought it would be bigger. The build quality is also very good especially considering the price.
I can see how these would work for many people, but they aren't really for me. They aren't a good fit for my ear. I don't like how each earbud operates independently although that is the price to pay for using something that is truly wireless.
Sound is good. Battery life is good with the included case. They are just not my thing as far as fit and function. I am going to stick with the Plantronics Backbeat Fit.

Easy to set up, and works great!

There is a lot of competition in the video doorbell market these days. I went with the SimpliSafe - Pro Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell because of the SimpliSafe reputation, and I am glad I did.
It only took about 10 minutes to install, and uses the existing wiring from your home's doorbell. Installation was extremely easy, and worked perfectly with my existing doorbell chime.
The app, and setup were equally easy to get up, and running. The picture quality is amazing day or night.
If you are looking for a video doorbell the are a lot of choices out there. Give the SimpliSafe - Pro Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell a chance, and I think you will be glad you did. Thanks SimpliSafe!

Dell has a winner here.

While there is plenty of competition in this price range for laptops I have always had good experiences with Dell so I decided to give this one a chance, and I am so glad I did.
This is my first 2-in-1 laptop, and so far the versatility has been amazing. You can use it in laptop mode for productivity, tablet mode for browsing the internet, or stand mode for watching videos. Really cool.
The build quality is top notch. The inside of the laptop has a brushed stainless look, and feel to it, and it's really quite striking. The outside is a more flat silver. The hardware all seems very high quality - especially the hinges. I am sure they will stand up to years of opening, closing, and folding the laptop with no issues. The backlit keyboard is also a nice touch as it's become somewhat of a requirement for me these days.
The performance of this computer is also outstanding. The solid state drive loads Windows very fast. My model has the Core i5 processor with 8gb of RAM, and it's handled everything I can throw at it. Great for multitasking. There is also a micro SD slot, an HDMI out, and a USB C port.
If I have one complaint about this computer it was that Cortana guided me through the Windows set up process, and all of her talking was kind of annoying, and long winded to me. At least you only need to set it up once!
Dell has a real winner here. They have found a perfect compromise between price, and quality. I would absolutely recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a laptop, a 2-in-1, or basically any computer in this price range.

Meet the secure, tamper-proof smart lock from Nest and Yale. It’s keyless, so you can lock and unlock the door from anywhere with the Nest app.[1] Give people you trust a passcode instead of a key, and get alerts when they come and go. And lock the door with a tap. If you forget, the Nest x Yale Lock even reminds you.

Keys are a thing of the past.

I have been looking at these smart deadbolts for some time now. The idea of coming home with a armload of groceries, and not having to set things down, or fiddle around for your keys seemed too good to be true. With the Nest x Yale - Smart Lock not only is this a reality, but also much more with the Nest Connect, and Nest app.
I will get this out of the way right now. The product is of high quality, functions just like I imagined it would, and is absolutely worth the asking price.
With that being said installation for me personally was a little bit of a mixed bag. I was installing this in an old metal front door from 1978, and while I thought the procedure was a simple drop in success the deadbolt wouldn't fully engage during calibration, and thus I could not complete the setup of the device. This required me to disassemble everything, and do some filing here, and some chiseling there. Finally everything was acceptable, the calibration completed successfully, and I can now live the good life of entering my home without the need to fiddle for keys.
The Nest app is where the product exceeded my expectations. I would often times leave the house, and wonder if I had actually locked the front door. With the app I can see whether the door is or not, and do it remotely if I need to. Sweet!
You can also grant access codes to whomever you wish (and subsequently revoke said access at any time). Family members get access codes AND the access to the Nest app itself. When "Privacy Mode" is engaged only family members with access to the app can enter the house. Pretty neat.
Overall I love the Nest x Yale - Smart Lock, and if you are thinking of living this good, and futuristic keyless lifestyle with me than I fully recommend this to be your choice.
Thanks for a great product!

Hello, and thanks for reading my review! This review will cover my thoughts, and impressions of the Sony SRS-XB31 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker. I have previously owned the SRS-XB10, and the SRS-XB20 so my impressions of this new speaker will be made largely in comparison to those. If you have owned one of the previous models is it worth it to upgrade? If not is it worth the asking price to jump in? Read on to find out.
I am not going to regurgitate everything you can read on the product page, but instead I will tell you whether or not the claims made there are accurate or exaggerated.
First up is the Extra Bass Mode. Verdict: Accurate. As far as bluetooth speakers go the SRS-XB31 is capable of producing a decent amount of bass without sounding droning.
Live Sound Mode: Verdict: Exaggerated. I didn't really care for it. Sounds like they just added a bunch of reverb.
Waterproof/Washable/Dustproof. Verdict: Accurate! Very cool feature. It's nice to not have to worry about damaging your speaker with dust or water, and it makes clean up simple.
Lasts all day. Verdict: YUP! While I haven't played it for 24 hours straight I just can't kill this thing. That's all while playing music, AND charging my phone with its built in USB port.
Bluetooth and NFC function very well. Quick to connect, and it works as you would expect.
Party Booster. Verdict: Gimmick. For me at least. You can tap the speaker in different spots to make sounds like a record scratch or whatever. It works, but it's not something I imagine I will ever use.
The lighting is one thing that surprised me. It was another feature I didn't think I would care for, but it turns out it's pretty great! A strip of multicolor LEDs wrap around the entire speaker, and produce some pretty cool effects to create a mood to go with the music.
That bring me to the Sony Music Center App. This is pretty much essential in my opinion. Not only does it allow you to adjust the lighting pattern (from RAVE to something more relaxing), but it also lets you tailor the sound. Here you can adjust bass, mid, and treble with a mini equalizer to make any genre of music you are listening to sound great.
Worth a mention is the ability to link up more speakers. Do your friends have these too? Link em up! You can in fact link up to 100 speakers at the same time if you are looking to cause an earthquake or get the cops called on you.
Overall the sound quality is great on this speaker, and that is what's most important. It's all the extras that make this particular bluetooth speaker shine above the competition. Yes it's definitely worth an upgrade, and yes it is absolutely worth the asking price. Give it a chance you will be glad you did!
Thanks Sony.

5 stars for athletes. 4 stars for audiophiles.

Hello, this is a review for the Plantronics - Backbeat FIT 505 Wireless On-Ear Headphones. I primarily use these for exercise, and up until now I have been using the Plantronics BackBeat Fit Bluetooth Headphones (in-ear) which have been fantastic. How do these compare? Do on ear headphones really work for intense exercise? Read on to find out.
The first thing to notice about these is that they are extremely lightweight while also maintaining great build quality. This does mean that while I am running on the treadmill, doing crunches on the decline bench, working the heavy and speed bags, etc that they don't budge. I never have to readjust them, and that was my biggest concern.
Sound quality is great for exercise. It is mostly up to the type of music you listen to. These have a LOT of bass. Some rap almost had too much low end. Overall very good though, and plenty loud to drown out any exercise equipment I happened to be using.
Controls are very intuitive. More so than the in ear model. I just gave them a once over when I took them out of the box, and the first time I actually put them on everything was just where it should be. I felt like I had been using them for a long time.
The bluetooth on these is fantastic. VERY quick to connect, and never any interference. Battery life is equally impressive. I have been listening to these for several hours a day for about a week, and it still reports a high battery level when I turn them on.
PROS:
lightweight
doesn't move around during exercise
fits my big head
handles sweat like a champ
intuitive controls
great bluetooth
great battery
CONS:
some rap has too much bass in these
not for audiophiles
To summarize I would say that if you are looking for an on ear set of headphones for exercise these are what you want. If you are an audiophile only out for the best sound quality possible spend a few more bucks and look elsewhere. As for me Plantronics continues to impress. Thanks!

This is a review of the Acer S271HL Gbidx 27" Monitor. This is a very attractive monitor. It's large size is very welcome making text much easier to read, and the lack of bezels gives it a very high end appearance. Read on to find out why I love it.
I have never been one to feel it necessary to have a 4K / G-Sync monitor for my computer, and have always been content gaming at 1080p 60FPS. If you are interested in those more advanced (and expensive) features then you will need to look elsewhere. What you are getting here is an attractive high end 1080p monitor with EXCELLENT picture quality, and plenty of screen real estate. If that is what you are looking for then this is the monitor you NEED.
I will start out by saying that for the last few years I have been using a 21.5" 1080p Dell touch screen monitor. Was it worth it for me to upgrade to the Acer 27" while losing touch screen capability? The answer is absolutely yes.
My first task was to wall mount it on an articulating arm for freedom of movement. This was very easy to accomplish with the integrated 100x100 VESA mount on the back of the monitor. After plugging in the HDMI, and power it was time to take it for a spin! My first test was to fire up a movie. Picture quality is amazing here, and you can adjust it to your liking with several presets to choose from. Even letterboxed movies are very watchable due to the screen's large size. It was equally impressive while gaming. Maybe even more so.
Some thoughts:
PROS
⦁ Easy to set up
⦁ Attractive appearance
⦁ NO BEZELS
⦁ Excellent picture quality
⦁ VESA Mount
⦁ Light weight works well with articulating arm.
CONS
⦁ If you want a resolution of greater than 1080p you will need to look elsewhere.
⦁ Nothing else I can think of!
I am super impressed with this monitor. If you are on the fence I say give it a try and you won't be disappointed. I have no doubt that you will be impressed too. Thanks Acer!

This is a review of the Philips - Viva Collection Hot Air Fryer in black. I have only seen air fryers on late night tv infomercials, and as such I assumed they were greatly exaggerating their abilities as it happens so often. I also assumed that if I ever bought one that it would be yet another specialty appliance that would be used a few times and then collect dust for the rest of eternity. So what is the truth when it comes to the Philips - Viva Collection Hot Air Fryer? Read on to find out why I love it.
I will start out by saying that for the last few years I have been mostly sticking to a low carb, low calorie diet, and as such a lot of my meals are mostly variations of meat recipes. For the most part I always keep a lot of meat in the fridge that I cook up in a crock pot because the crock pot is easy to use, and produces some really tender and tasty meat. I do admit however that even with plenty of variations on that theme I do still miss my fried foods. That is what led me to take a chance on the Philips Air Fryer. Is it as easy to use as the crock pot? Does it produce the same high quality results with a minimum of effort? The answer is absolutely yes.
The air fryer itself is actually similar in size to my standard crock pot if you were to stand it up vertically. It's a little large, but overall I have no real problems with its size. Assembly was super easy, and intuitive. Its very easy to clean. It's equally easy to operate. There is a reference chart right on the appliance that shows time and temperature required to cook a variety of foods. All you have to do is put your food in the basket, set the temperature and turn on the timer. Just like that you are cooking. I truly believe anyone can use this and get great results with a minimum of effort.
My first test was to make some breaded chicken strips. I took a pack of chicken tenders and coated it with flour, egg wash, and panko bread crumbs. It was now the moment of truth. When I fired up the air fryer you can definitely hear the fan start circulating the hot air. It is a little loud, but not a annoyance. Fifteen minutes later to my delight I had golden brown super crisp chicken strips. The inside was as tender as could be. I was amazed! And the best part was I didn't use a drop of oil to make it.
Some thoughts:
PROS
Easy to set up
Easy to clean
Excellent results with a minimum of effort
LOW FAT FRIED FOODS!
CONS
A little loud
A little large
Glossy black finish (I prefer matte)
The basket could be a little larger.
I am super impressed with this appliance. If you are on the fence I say give it a try and you won't be disappointed. I have no doubt I will use this regularly. This one wont be collecting dust. Thanks Philips!

The Next Big Thing Is Here.
on June 20, 2017
Posted by: DanChop
I have always enjoyed home theater, but I have found myself falling into a peculiar pattern over the last decade or so. I would buy a TV, and LOVE it.... for about six months before I started researching the next best thing. I needed more size, then I needed more resolution. Buy, research, buy, research. It wasn't long before I realized that I needed the flexibility, and sheer image size of a projector. This for the most part ended the vicious cycle. Until 4K showed up. Is the Epson Home Cinema 4000 the projector to finally end the cycle of always feeling like I need something more? I believe it is. Read on to find out more on why.
I would like to add a few quick notes about my experience with projectors to this point as they are my basis for comparison with the Epson Home Cinema 4000. I started with the BenQ W770ST at 720p. It had good build quality, and put out a nice image, but at only 80" I was immediately apparent that the resolution wasn't high enough. I also found out that I was highly susceptible to the "Rainbow Effect" (RBE) associated with DLP projection technology. In the end this projector was not for me.
That led me to the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 2000 at 1080p. It has an excellent build quality with a picture to match, and its 3LCD projection technology doesn't produce RBE. I knew when I was ready to make the jump to 4K that it would be with an Epson 3LCD projector.
When the day finally came and I opened the box for my new projector it was immediately apparent that I was stepping things up in every way. For starters the projector is HUGE! So much so in fact that I was unable to use it in the same room as my last projector. It's physical size dominated the ceiling of the small room, and it couldn't quite match the short throw of the Epson Home Cinema 2000. This beast needs room to breathe. It was because of this that I decided to set it up in our converted garage where there was more space to work with. The unit is ceiling mounted, and is projecting from approximately 12 feet on to a 100" screen.
My suggestions for setup would be to consider your available space carefully. Make sure you have a sturdy mount that locks down position well, and preferably uses 4 points for attachment instead of just 3. There is some very helpful information in the online user's manual that will help you determine projection distance, and placement. Also mounting the projector is a two person job. Plan accordingly!
All you have to do is get the projector mounted reasonably close, and you can make your final adjustments to the image using the excellent lens adjustment features all on the included backlit remote. This includes picture size, location, focus, and keystone. There is a lot of flexibility here, and it left me very impressed.
Now it was time for the fun part. Testing! With a press of the power button the lens cover automatically opens (this is so cool), and you are ready to go. The first thing I noticed is that this very large projector is.....quiet. Very quiet. Much more so than my Epson Home Cinema 2000. The larger size means a larger fan which in turn means less noise. I was pleasantly surprised by this.
My test were conducted using a Samsung soundbar setup via HDMI, a Comcast HD cable box outputting at 1080p via HDMI, and an Xbox One S via HDMI for its ability to play 4K Ultra Blu Rays, and stream 4K Netflix.
To put it simply this projector is STUNNING. Of course the results are heavily dependent on your source material. Taking this into account things like cable tv have never looked better with the upscale to 4K, and it only gets better from there. Netflix in 4K is amazing. I was immediately noticing details from my favorite shows that I had never seen before. And then the main feature. Planet Earth II on 4K Ultra Blu Ray with HDR. This was simply BREATHTAKING. It's honestly more than I could have hoped for. HDR is the true star of the show here.
While it is true that this is a 1080p native projector with 4K enhancement I am here to say that it is worth every penny. There is no reason to spend thousands of dollars more for native 4K. Again, the picture is simply incredible here.
The projector has plenty of picture modes, and enhancements to play around with, and the bulb can operate in three power consumption modes that will affect its overall life span. These are ECO, Medium, and High. So far I have kept it on medium, and been very satisfied. The projector also deals very well with ambient light, and I have had no problems getting a bright and crisp image day or night.
The only thing that I can really criticize here is the price of a replacement bulb which currently sits at about $299.99 although that is not out of the ordinary for a projector of this caliber. It's just a little jarring coming from the Epson Home Cinema 2000 with its $99 bulbs.
To conclude this review I want to say that this projector is simply amazing. If you are on a budget check out something like the Epson Home Cinema 2040. If you want the best bang for your buck in a 4K projector to date then you've found it in the Epson Home Cinema 4000. Don't waste thousands of your hard earned dollars on the alternatives before you see for yourself what this thing can do! It has finally broken my vicious cycle of always feeling like i'm missing out on something, and wanting more. I am confident that it will exceed the expectations of a vast majority of the people who buy it.
I would like to finish with a HUGE thanks to Epson for this wonderful piece of technology.

Welcome to the Future.
on May 9, 2017
Posted by: DanChop
Alright folks we are officially living in the future. Although I never thought that a light switch would be the thing that made me feel that way. But this isn't just any light switch. It's the Belkin WeMo Dimmer Wi-Fi Light Switch, and it has surpassed all of my expectations.
There is not much to the package. Just a small box with a very fancy looking light switch, some caps to twist your wiring together, and the instructions you need to get started. To be clear I had no experience with changing out a light switch before this. In the end the included instructions, and a helpful Youtube video were enough to get me going. The process was really quite easy. My only piece of advice here would be to make sure you turn off the correct fuse in your home's breaker box to avoid injury. If you are not comfortable with this just ask a friend who is familiar with it or call an electrician.
Once the device was physically installed the rest of the setup was even easier. After downloading the WeMo app on my phone it walked me through the rest of the steps. Through the app you can obviously turn the lights on and off, and adjust the level of dimming. You can also create profiles to automatically turn the lights on or off at a certain time, to set a specific level of brightness for movie time, or any other scenario you can come up with. And you can control all of this wherever you have internet access. If you forgot to turn off the lights before you left the house? No problem. If you want to make it look like someone is home while you are actually on vacation? It's got you covered.
Combine the Belkin WeMo Dimmer Wi-Fi Light Switch with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, and you can live out your dreams of being on the Starship Enterprise.
And just like that we are in the future. It looks great, and works better than expected. I had only planned on getting this one switch, but after trying it out I am ready to outfit the entire house. Give it a try, and I am confident you will too. Highly Recommended. Thanks Belkin!
