From director Clint Eastwood comes "American Sniper," starring Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history. But there was much more to this true American hero than his skill with a rifle. U.S. Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and, as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname "Legend." However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family at home, Chris serves through four harrowing tours of duty in Iraq, becoming emblematic of the SEAL creed to "leave no man behind." But upon returning home, Chris finds that it is the war he can't leave behind. Very Highly Recommended !!
A landmark movie in the Film Noir tradition, Roman Polanski's "Chinatown" upholds every aspect of a true Film Noir style classic. Jack Nickolson and Faye Dunaway experience the murky, dark, muddled side of Pre War Southern California. Nicholson plays private eye Jake Gittes hired by a sensual socialite played by Faye Dunaway to investigate the murder of her husband. Gittes soon finds himself entrenched in double- dealings. Also starring film legend John Huston. A highly recommended film done in a timeless format.
Though not as visually impressive as comparable other Terry Gilliam fare such as Jabberwocky, the verbal wit is fast and abundant (afforded by cameos by Billy Crystal, Peter Cook and Mel Smith), much of which you'll remember & laugh about for years to come. Cary Elwes, Peter Falk, & Mandy Patinkin bring about a wonderful trio to the film. Charming, enchanting, & at times very hilarious.
A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock our nation, American Hustle tells the story of con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning and seductive partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that's as dangerous as it is enchanting. Caught between the con-artists and Feds is Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner), the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator, but it's Irving's unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) who could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down. Worth watching over and over again. One of those influential films you never tire of.
With a cast starring Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, Zack Galifianakis, Naomi Watts, Emma Stone amongst others, this is truly one of the best films of the year. From the acting to the plot to the cinematography this Tour De Force movie is a wonderful example of Hollywood's great actors melding together to bring you 2 hours of a wonderful movie experience. Worth watching countless times. Don't miss out on this one.
If you're a fan of The Three Stooges as I have been since I was a youngster, this 7 DVD set will have you laughing to tears. Well worth the money & you can watch these over, & over again. Timeless & classic hysteria.
This release contains every episode from the first season of True Detective, the HBO series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as two police detectives investigating the ritualistic murder of a woman, and uncovering a possibly conspiracy in the process. Meanwhile, their own personal lives are a wreck, often affecting how they do their job. Series creator Nic Pizzolatto wrote ever episode, and each was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga.
If you ever watched True Detective or are contemplating buying this season 1 box set, I highly recommend it. Through it's dark, mystifying background, this was the best show of 2014. This is Matthew McConaughey at his absolute finest in a mold atypical of what you're accustomed to. Woody Harrelson is also superb, however Matthew absolutely steals the show. Brilliant; dark; & thought provoking. Highly recommended.
Highly recommended if you were into the disco scene in the late 70's & early 80's. Some very rare & hard to find tracks makes this a must have box set for any lover of the Euro-Disco sound. More than worth the cost.
Great action/western adventure with Jamie Foxx giving a brilliant performance. Also Christop Waltz turns in an outstanding performance. Once again Quentin Tarantino knocks it out of the park with sensational cinematography.
