Great job!

I am really digging the Vulcan 121 AIMO. Its simplicity makes it classy without being pretentious. It is made of black anodized aluminum that feels cool to the touch. Personally, I would have like to have the entire chassis made of the same material as the bottom is made of simple plastic. Not a big deal, but I had to mention it. Still, this is a pretty heavy keyboard at a little over 2.5 lbs. Roccat included a handy plastic palm rest that I might switch for a soft padded one. It is not that it is bad, it’s just my preference. The keyboard features a full-size keyboard layout (with Numpad), a useful volume rocker, a sound selector, and an FX button. I feel that these were kind of tacked on and I would have like to have seen more features instead. Then again, these functions were not really the main features of this keyboard.
The true stars of the show are these newly designed Titan switch keys. I must say that I am quite impressed. The keys are linear and the best way I can describe the feel is tactile but not “clicky”; sort of like modified brown switches. They have a 1.8mm travel press, going down very quickly at a full distance of 3.6mm. With that much distance, I was surprised that the keys register extremely fast. Coming from a different switch (red), it did not take me long to adjust. The spacing is good enough to minimize mistakes and double pressing keys (ghosting). Overall, this keyboard is a joy to type in.
Of course, the Vulcan 121 AIMO would not be a gamer keyboard without RGB lighting. The illumination is quite impressive. The letters are well highlighted and distinct. Because the design has the keycaps raised, exposing the bottom, I was worried that the lighting would “bleed” all over the place. I am happy to say that that was not the case as the bottom is encased in clear plastic, containing the light, producing a pleasant look.
Also, I will highly recommend downloading Roccat’s SWARM software. Not only does it allow you to keep your keyboard’s firmware up to date, but also gives you access to a great number of options such as key assignments, macros, sound feedback, and of course, full per-key RGB customization as well as profiles.
In the end, I think Roccat did a great job. The build quality, customization, cool lighting, and amazing typing-gaming experience is well worth the price.

Take on the enemy in comfort with this ergonomic ROCCAT Kone AIMO gaming mouse. The onboard memory saves macros and button assignments, while the Owl-Eye sensor with a 100-12,000 dpi range lets you adjust pointer sensitivity. This black ROCCAT Kone AIMO gaming mouse has a tri-button thumb zone and 4-D Titan wheel for vast control, and the 1ms response time enables fast action during FPS sessions.

Good comfort, response, and value.

The Kone AIMO is a cool looking mouse. It is mostly made of a smooth plastic that feels premium. The design is certainly geared towards gamers. I especially like the gaps on the top which showcase the RGB lighting. The plastic does not easily attract fingerprints. The braided cable has a good length of a little less than 6ft. and looks strong and pliable.
When it comes to ergonomics, this is a fairly big mouse that requires a full clam-style grip with extended finger reach. While a claw-style grip can be used, I found it to be a little tiring after a while, which may be due to my small hands. I was a bit worried that the surface may be too slippery, especially when playing competitively online as I usually pick and drop the mouse constantly. I am happy to say that this was not an issue for me as the side indentations of the mouse allowed for a firm grip and control. The button layout is good enough to activate without moving the palm too much.
The buttons are clicky and very responsive -even in MOBA games when I madly click all over the place. The wheel moves easily and quietly and clicks in three different ways. I did not experience any miss-clicks as with other similar wheels when scrolling. The mouse glides easily on almost any surface I tried. However, the tracking is where the Kone shines. I conducted speed tests and precision clicking tests and I was rather impressed. At 1khz polling rate and 1ms response, this is certainly made for twitchy gaming.
I highly recommend downloading the companion software SWARM from Roccat. This software allows for full optimization of the mouse and can be carried on to any other PC you may want to use this mouse at. From lighting to DPI, to the 25 button assignments and more, there is no setting that cannot be changed to one’s liking.
I am very happy with this mouse. The ergonomics, responsiveness, and options (via software), combined with the decent price, makes this an easy product to recommend

Great wireless option with must-get software.

My first impression was that Roccat Elo 7.1 Air, was that it looks like a professional headset from an E-Sports competition. I kind of like this design. The flexible metal band allows for the headrest to fit almost any head size and shape, making them very versatile and comfortable. I must mention that I was a bit worried that these would be too bulky and that this would be an issue when playing as I tend to move around quite a bit. I am happy to say that this is not the case as they are light at a little over 12oz and the rotating cups, along with the soft memory foam earpads make them comfortable to wear for long periods -even when wearing eyeglasses. While they did shift when shaking my head, they never fell off as the clamping pressure is tight, yet not quite as to give one a headache. The soft headrest does not put too much pressure on the top of my head, which is the main reason why I cannot wear other headsets for too long. The earpads did get a bit hot after a couple of hours, but unless you are wearing cloth padded sets, which may leak sound, this is an unfortunate issue for most to deal with.
These cans seem very well built and durable. The hard plastic ear cups are well attached to the headband and the swivels rotate without creaking. The metal band flexes almost horizontally, and the headrest has a springiness that I hope will become loose up any time soon. The detachable mic seems sturdy enough as well. The earpads are made of soft memory foam covered by pleather-like material and look like the seams are well stitched. Since these are matte, I did not see any fingerprints at all. The controls are on the left cup. There, you can control volumes for the sound and mic, mute, and on/off power.
The Roccat Elo Air can produce rich, full, enjoyable sound. However, you MUST download Roccat’s SWARM software to make this happen. Out of the box, the sound is somewhat decent. The highs are not piercing nor fatiguing. The mids are a bit recessed but still have some clarity. The bass, unfortunately, was a bit lack-luster as I thought it was too weak and loose for my taste. Luckily, all my gripes were cleared once I used the SWARM software to fully customize the sound. Besides all the pre-set custom settings, there is a lot of room for changing every aspect with the equalizer. I ended up with a sound experience worthy of the 50mm drivers of this headset -including a full 7.1 simulated surround sound. The superhuman hearing feature did not really change my experience as I found it a bit gimmicky and thought that it simply pushed the high and mid frequencies forward too much, which affected bass.
Being gaming headsets, these must have RGB lighting. Well, I like that the logo and brand light up quite nicely without being obnoxious. They compliment my PC rig and set up perfectly. By the way, this can all be customized through the SWARM software, which again, I highly recommend downloading.
The removable mic worked rather nicely. I was told that my voice came in full and clear. I did not experience break-ups due to the stable connection these headsets have with the 2.4GHz transmitter (and my awesome internet connection).
Roccat claims that the battery can last 24 hours. In my experience, they lasted short of 19 hours. This may be due to the fact that I had the sound at over 75% and boosted the bass significantly. These cans charge using an included USB-C to USB-A cable. Sadly, this headset cannot be used with just the USB cable should the battery run out mid-game, so check the battery status with the SWARM software.
While not perfect, I found myself liking these headphones more and more as time passed by. They are well built, comfortable, and the software make these a joy to listen to. I still think a wired connection is better as far as microphone clarity is concerned, but these are certainly a push in the right direction. I would have given them a lower score if it wasn’t for the SWARM software, to be honest. In the end, I think the Elo’s are a great gaming and casual option for anyone looking for a wireless alternative.

This webcam has a nice design. It is simple and easy to figure out. The gray/black face looks good, but personally, I would rather have it all black to match my monitor or TV set. The mount is fairly big, and it extends a bit too far down, which makes it visible due to my monitor’s super-thin bezels. The mount also doubles as a stand, and, while not being as stable as I would prefer, for the most part, it works well. I appreciated that the camera can also be mounted on a camera stand or tripod. Oh, and I like the fact that the camera has a sliding privacy cover.
The camera can be connected via micro-USB to USB and, thankfully, the cord is removable should a longer cable be needed. Since the camera is plug-n-play, one only needs to connect it and the operating system will automatically recognize it.
The camera features a resolution of 1080p/30fps. As far as the picture quality, I was a bit disappointed as it is decent at best. I tried it in different settings and in different applications. The camera did work as expected and I was told that I looked alright. However, any bright spots take over the overall picture, and then it becomes too grainy in darker conditions. I will say that the microphone is quite good. I was able to be heard clearly in a large room without too much distortion.
So, in the end, I think this is a decent webcam. It does what it is designed to do without any complications or hassles. While I was hoping to get a better picture quality, I must mention that the price is quite reasonable. I will certainly recommend this for anyone that does not have a 1080p camera on their desktop. However, for anyone that has a laptop with a built-in camera, perhaps this is not the upgrade you are looking for.

Good sound and features in a playful design.

Having already seen them on the internet, I was still surprised when I took them out of the box. The round, egg-like, matte look and feel just feels great when handling them. They feel premium without being pretentious. It is also quite portable as I can put it in my jeans’ coin pocket easily. The cap opens smoothly and closes with a satisfying snap. The design is just playful yet elegant.
The buds themselves also feature this smooth round design. I received the “Quite Mint” greenish and black version and I must say that this makes them even more fun to wear. The case has a USB-C port and a pairing button. There is also an LED light on the outside and on the inside for battery status. The case can also be charged wirelessly which is a huge plus for me. Google claims a battery life of 5 hours listening and 2.5 hours talk time, and 10 minutes in the case gives you 2 hours of listening time with quick charge. I tested this and it fell more or less within range.
There are 3 tip sizes and I ended up with the largest, which seal my ear canals the best. The buds feature a non-removable fin which makes me wonder how they would feel on different ear shapes. I must say that did experience some fatigue and slight discomfort after wearing them for a couple of hours. Since I tend not to wear any buds for such long periods of time, this is not really a big issue for me. These feature IPX4 so slight water splashes and sweat are no problem.
Pairing the Pixel Buds is extremely easy on Android. Simply open the lid of the case and a message appears guiding you and prompting you to install the software.
Featuring 12mm drivers, the sound out of the box is quite enjoyable in my opinion. The highs are a bit recessed allowing the mid frequencies to push through forward. While the bass may not rattle any bass heads ears, it is still impactful. There is good separation and detail. There is a feature on the app that enables bass boost. This certainly adds quite a lot of bass depth to the sound, but in my opinion, it also makes the sound a bit muddy and I prefer clarity instead. The design offers “Adaptive Sound” which in my opinion is not very useful as these do not get all that loud. Personally, I would have liked to have some active noise cancellation, as the passive noise reduction and volume are not all that great.
Calls come in loud and clear with the dual microphone and talk detection accelerometer. I was told my voice came in with depth and did not have that “underwater” quality.
Touch controls are a joy to use as they are very responsive and intuitive. I love how swiping forward and backward controls volume so well. As far as other features, Google assistant integration works flawlessly. Every command, every notification, and Google Chromecast work as expected. The translation feature is OK and the “find my earbuds” on the app is quite useful.
In the end, I am really loving these buds. Although not perfect, the playful, elegant design, coupled with the easy controls, sound signature, and jam-packed features make the Pixel Buds a great value and easy to recommend.

The best for cloud gaming on the go!

Straight out of the box I noticed that this controller is compact. It resembles a medium-size controller when folded. It is also light, which makes it much more portable than a full-size controller and adapter. To open it up, one must depress some clips by the backplate and pull it apart. There is a band that is sort of elastic that holds each side together. The build is decent and seems that it can withstand some heavy usage.
According to Razer, this controller is compatible with several popular phones out there, including my Note 8, which fits perfectly snug and secure. The right side has a USB-C port that connects it to the phone’s connector. The Left side was a bit wobbly, but nothing that bothered me when using it.
The controller is ergonomic and easy to hold -even with one hand. The buttons felt mostly decent. I will say that the action buttons and the D-Pad were a bit on the mushy side. The analog sticks have a good range, are springy, and click nicely. The top shoulder buttons are OK, but I would have liked for them to be a bit wider. The bottom shoulder buttons did feel the cheapest, especially since those are mostly used as triggers and/or an accelerator. Again, these little nitpicks do not negatively affect gameplay.
When it comes to games, there is a good amount that is fully compatible right out of the gate. However, there are some very popular games such as PUBG and COD: M that, unfortunately, do not work at all and that is truly a bummer. That alone would turn away some mobile gamers, but I think Razer will release updates later on. What made this an instant success, however, was that the Kishi was fully compatible with MS’ xCloud and Stadia. Now I can play AAA titles on the go without having to carry around a full-size controller and adapter. Since this controller is connected directly to the phone, there was no noticeable input lag as it would with a Bluetooth controller.
Sadly, the Kishi covers the headphone jack and a wireless headset must be used (hopefully one with little lag). You can also use a USB-C to headphone adapter since the Kishi does feature a pass-through USB-C port on the right side. This additional port allows for powering the phone during those long gaming sessions.
In the end, I think the Kishi is the best-designed controller adapter for most phones. I will suggest checking to see if the controller is compatible with your favorite games before buying. For anyone with a cloud-based streaming game subscription, it is certainly a game-changer.

Best scrolling wheel in the portable world!
on September 17, 2020
Posted by: insomniak1
from Chicago, IL, USA
The MX Anywhere 3 is certainly small. Being used to much bigger mice, it did take me some time to adjust. Keeping in mind that this is designed for taking it on the go, I got used to it rather quickly. Still, it fits in my medium-size hands and in my laptop bag. Although it is light in weight, it retains a quality feel to it. The scroll wheel is chromed. It is certainly a nice-looking mouse.
The top is made of smooth plastic and the sides have rubber silicone grips, which is nice to have on such a small device. The underside glides easily across several surfaces, including vinyl mats, smooth wood, and even glass. The scroll wheel feels like it is in a good position as I do not need to over-bend my index finger to move it around. The side buttons are also easily accessible without feeling too small or cramped.
The mouse is charged via USB-C and features quick-charge. Logitech claims that the battery lasts up to 70 days on a single charge. Great for that portability function. You can pair the mouse up to 3 devices -2 to USB dongles and 1 via Bluetooth. Switching is easy by pressing the button underneath the mouse. I did experience a few connectivity issues while in Bluetooth mode, so I had to be rather close to the PC to avoid this issue.
As far as functionality, the MX Anywhere 3 covers all the basics and then some. The laser is precise on any surface (even on cloth!). At 4000 DPI, I experienced no hiccups, even when I played a couple of games meant for precision clicking. The buttons are responsive and satisfying to click. They do make some noise, but I would rather have that than mushy, unresponsive quiet buttons. Now, scrolling is where this baby is above the rest. It just feels so good to scroll in free-spinning mode at high speeds on never-ending spreadsheets (which unfortunately I must deal with at work). Whether in smooth or friction mode, the wheel is noticeably quiet.
Also, I downloaded Logitech’s Options app. While it is not a revolutionary concept, it allowed me to customize several options such as button actions and scroll sensitivity. You can also select functionality templates for the most popular apps and browsers. The biggest feature of the app is “Flow”. “Flow” provides the ability to switch between computers and share files on the fly -like having two monitors at once. I must say that it was a bit difficult to get it to work properly and when it did, it was just OK. Still, it is nice to have.
In the end, I think the MX Anywhere 3 really is the MX Master 3’s little brother. While a bit pricey for a portable mouse, its build quality, responsiveness, battery life, and that glorious free-spinning wheel make this a great value and earns an easy recommendation from me.

An excellent cup of Joe.
on August 31, 2020
Posted by: insomniak1
from Chicago, IL, USA
Having used only one automatic coffee maker for the past few years, and not being familiar with the Nespresso line, I was eager to try something new.
Here is a quick overview of my experience. For a more in-depth account, continue reading.
-Slick, slim design
-Easy to use
-Amazing coffee flavors
-Buggy, annoying, useless app and online features that need serious work
-A bit noisy for early morning people

The Vertuo Next came well packaged and included the Aeroccino3 Milk Frother, along with a coffee sampler box and documentation.
The coffee maker is nicely designed and pleasant to look at with black and chrome top accents. It is slim enough to fit in narrow spaces (5.5”) but protrudes quite a bit (about 16”). There is a clear plastic detachable water reservoir that fits in the back and does not swivel. It holds enough water for a few cups. There is also a removable drip tray that can be adjusted according to the size of the cup.
Setting up the machine for first-time use was simple enough. If written instructions are not your thing, there are plenty of videos online. This process takes about 7-8 minutes. Now, I did experience some very annoying and overly frustrating issues in paring the machine with my android phone and was unable to connect it to my network. After trying several times, I just gave up. Since connecting to the network is just for notifications and firmware updates, I found it not necessary at this point. Hopefully, Nespresso will update the app soon.
But how easy is the process? And, does this machine make good coffee? Well, I am happy to say that fixing a cup of coffee is as easy as placing the proprietary pod in the machine, close the lid, putting the lever to the “locked” position, and push the button. By the way, the lever is a bit hard to move but that lets me know that it is properly locked. The machine will recognize the type of pod and pour it accordingly. The heating time takes about 20 seconds or less and the pouring time is about what would be expected, depending on the size and type of pod. If you want to dilute the coffee a bit, just push the button to add more water and click on again to stop. I think the temperature of the water could be a bit hotter, but overall, it is quite acceptable. Opening the hatch throws the used pod into the back so that it can be thrown out later, making the machine ready for the next cup. I did find that the machine is a little louder than I would have liked, but that is just nit-picking as I drink coffee a bit later in the morning.
The milk frother worked as described. It is quite simple to use with just a push of a button. I tried both the hot and cold function which made for a decent latte.

Focusing on the coffee itself, that is where the Nespresso brand really shined and pleasantly surprised me. Every flavor that I tried so far was distinctive and had a high-quality taste. The espresso, in particular, made me feel like I was a professional barista. This alone may be the reason to switch from my old machine and coffee brand.
So in the end, while the Nespresso Virtuo Next has some design flaws and app features that certainly need a lot of work, I would still recommend checking it out for the ease of use and the amazing coffee flavor experience it brings to every cup.

Setting the new bar for performance and value.
on August 22, 2020

My first impression was that this is a beautiful TV. The bezels are basically non-existent, and the glass screen is placed on top of the frame -not encased, giving it a unique look (see posted picture). The feet are a bit wide (13”) considering the TV’s size. This can leave a deep gap between the TV’s back and the wall or end of the stand, so keep that in mind. The good news is that the TV is wall mount-ready for those who can install one.
This set offers several connectivity options, including four HDMI, composite, analog, Wi-Fi (wireless, ethernet, or Bluetooth) and USB which powers my over-the-air-antenna. Speaking of over-the-air channels, this TV was able to pick up almost 25% more channels than my other sets, with less break-up (I do not have cable, only internet).
The Android platform has provided a pleasant experience so far. After almost 45 minutes of updates (eek!), I was able to sign in to google and set up the various apps I normally use with no issues at all. Moving from app to app is smooth. The TV has a mic for voice commands for Chromecast, google assistant, and even Alexa. It picks up voice rather well even at a good distance. The TV did misunderstand me a few times and, strangely, the mic woke up on its own at hearing the TV occasionally. Casting from my android phone worked very nicely.
Now, this TV can get incredibly bright. The specs say 1000nits, but I would dare say it is probably more than that. This makes it specifically great for day viewing -even in direct sunlight. The viewing angles are decent. Straight out of the box, the Quantum dot display’s picture is quite amazing having Dolby Vision, HDR-10+, and local dimming. Black colors are incredibly deep, the colors really pop, and the contrast is superb. I think it is quite striking. However, after watching content from several sources, I started to notice that there was a bit of ghosting (double images in high-motion scenes). Also, when watching lower than 4k resolution video, blurring and color bleeding occurred. Gaming suffered because of the noticeable input lag as well.
Thankfully, the H9G offers a substantial amount of options and features for a better viewing experience. There are presets that I found were actually helpful and distinctive. From vivid to energy saving, there is something for everyone. Personally, I go between energy saving during the day and Theater Low mode at night. For the picture enthusiast, I am happy to say that there are plenty of options. From backlighting, contrast, and tone, every preset can be further tuned to one’s liking. Even better, there is a calibration option for the true enthusiast. I also appreciated the Gaming preset. This mode allows for less input lag, which translates to higher accuracy when playing games -especially high-speed competitive matches. Funny thing is, I was so used to compensate for the lag that I had to adapt to the low latency!
Having a high-end ATMOS sound system, I was pleasantly surprised that the TV’s own sound is quite good. While the bass is not where I would like it to be, it is clear and loud even at 10%. The TV offers sound through HDMI ARC, optical, Bluetooth, and even 3.5mm. While I would still highly recommend a sound system or bar, I will say that, unlike with other TV’s, this time it may not be as necessary.
Certainly not perfect, but the picture quality, options, and sound make the H9G a great value to beat and super easy to recommend.

Classy on-ear headset!

The Jabra Elite 45h is a great looking headset. I have the Titanium black which features a matt finish with leatherette earpads and a titanium/plastic headband frame with rubber padding. These look classy enough to bring them to work and conduct business meetings online.
The earpads are made of memory foam covered with soft leatherette and rest lightly directly on the ears. There is a slight clamping force which is good but also makes them prone to wobble or even fall off during heavy or sudden movements. Although they are rather light, and the headband is soft enough, I did experience some fatigue after wearing them for about 3 hours straight, mostly on the top of my head. Also, since I wear glasses, I noticed some discomfort after a while and especially after taking them off. This is not an issue without glasses, though. Because my ears did get hot while wearing them, I would not recommend using them while exercising. Also, wearing them for long periods can make your ears sweat, which can be rather uncomfortable.
These headphones are easy to pair and can be switched with two devices back and forth at the same time, which very useful. The Bluetooth 5.0 had excellent range around my small apartment. The controls, which are placed on the right ear cup, can take some time getting used to, but once figured out, they are very intuitive. Battery life is amazing as I used them for an entire day and managed to spend less than 30%. These offer quick charge and Jabra claims that 15 minutes gives 10 hours of life.
These headphones produce a very decent sound. Straight from the box, the sound is warm and pleasant. While the bass is not as “punchy” or tight as I would have liked, it is very deep. The mids are OK, but I felt that vocals were a bit recessed. The treble is noticeable, but I wish it would have been a bit clearer. These are great for listening to movies, dance, hip-hop, and metal music, but found them a bit too muddy for live concerts, jazz, and classical genres. These headphones do not get as loud as I wish they did, which is strange since they feature 40mm drivers. There is very little sound leakage so it will not bother anyone around you for the most part. Call quality is good enough, even in noisy environments, so no complaints there.
I do recommend downloading the Jabra Sound+ App. While the customized sound signature does not greatly affect the overall sound, the app provides the ability to mess around with the EQ, as well as keeping the headset’s firmware always up to date.
In the end, even though they are not perfect, I will still recommend checking out the Elite 45H as they provide great value, reliability, battery life, and a sound that I believe most will find enjoyable.

How many programmable buttons keyboard has?

There are at least 6 dedicated programmable keys. However, the entire keyboard can be reconfigured through the Steelseries software.

Will the new hw q80r shut off like the hw n850 after 5 min of paused movie.

I have not personally seen this happened yet. At least not after 5 minutes. I will keep my eye (and ear) on that!

Experience the future of audio with this Samsung Atmos sound bar. The included remote and compatibility with Amazon Alexa offer multiple options for controlling this Samsung Atmos sound bar.

Will the sound quality be affected if I place under tv on tilt\swivel wall mount instead of directly on wall or on flat surface?

The idea is that the sound is object-directional. Meaning that the speakers send the sound out so that it can bounce off the walls and ceiling and change the direction of the sound to reach your ears. So as long as you are not obstructing the sound path, you are OK to place the TV or bar however you please.

Has anyone tried heating/ warming up the milk? Can the mug/ glass fit in? How fast can it be? We usually heat the milk up within 60 seconds. You think this can replace your microwave?

Because of the reheating times I have experienced, I think it would take too long for a glass of milk to be properly heated. Plus, you have to use an oven-safe glass or cup and the height of the oven is pretty low.

Does anyone know if it will upconvert standard blu-rays to 4K? My Xbox S only plays standard blu-rays in their native format.

Sadly, nope. It baffles me that Sony, who actually owns 4K Blue-ray would not support it on their own console.
