This collection of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies includes Wes Craven's original entry in the series as well as A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, and Wes Craven's New Nightmare as well as a wealth of extra features.
Couldn’t resist picking up this set on blu ray for only 25. A great deal for some of seven best horror films ever made. Granted the orginal, three and new nightmare are most likely the best three out of the bunch.
It’s also interesting the choice of packaging. 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6 and New Nightmare are both paired on their respective blu ray discs. Also, this package just has the discs. Don’t understand why they didn’t put each movie on their own separate disc.
While many tend to think of the slasher films from the 80s and those were good films, Pet Semetary is a solid horror film that provides many thought provoking issues. It has earned its place as a cult film but also feels like it should be rated higher among King’s classics.
It’s true the film has aged some with the times, however the video an audio quality on the blu ray disc remain solid with good detail.
It’s good to see dc finally showcase teen titans in an animated movie. Granted Robin and Starfire are grown up and are now mentoring the teen titans. Terra has joined the group and is instantly accepted by the group which should cause them concern but it doesn’t. Then Deathstroke also makes an interesting villain. This version came with a Blue Beetle figure and digital copy.
You’re either a fan of the supernatural elements or you are not. I am. I found this movie interesting because of the different people they bring in to form the Justice League Dark. Constantine by far remains my favorite and DC needs to do more with him. This version came with a figure of him along with a digital copy.
We get to see an interaction between Batman and Superman that we longed for on the big screen. The voice work is excellent as always as is the animation. Got both for $9 so a great value.
All Star Superman is perhaps the most interesting of these two animated features. While Doomsday is good I feel is a rather weak adaptation of the source material. All Star Superman however shows us what happenes when Superman realizes he is mortal after all. Overall I’d say All Star Superman is a better adaptation. Both have pretty good voice work and also some good quality animation.
So Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine one last time and knocks it out of the park. It’s hard to argue his portrayal as Wolverine as that has never been in doubt. What has been lacking is a great film with a great plot. This movie has it. Hard to say just how much influence Deadpool had on the production of this movie and the R rating however I felt like it definitely added to the film. I’m not a big fan of alternate versions of movies. However the noir version that came with this blu ray is amazing. Definitely a must for any X-men or Wolverine fan.
I couldn’t believe I got this classic book plus all of the cuts of Blade Runner for only $9. While I do like the final cut as the best version it’s also good to have the other cuts including the original theatrical release with the forced narration. I also enjoyed the collectors booklet that accompanied all of the discs. Definitely a great buy and a tremendous value.
I went into this film not knowing too much about the anime version. I thought Scarlet did a wonderful job in the lead role despite the controversy over her casting. This movie reminded me of the Matrix in many ways as I know the creators of the Matrix were huge anime fans and even may have watch the anime version which was out before Matrix. Top notch effects and action blend seemlessly with the plot, too. Overall a good pick up for the $9 I paid for it.
Normally I’m not a big fan of reboots however I really enjoyed the plot line of this one especially with the background surrounding all of the characters. The effects were top notch despite not much action happening end the climax of the movie. Definitely a must recommend for any power ranger fan and a good popcorn film for the casual viewer.
