I purchased this to speed up a computer build from 7 years ago. Although my MB only supports SATA II, this SSD was compatible and reduced my previous boot times from over 2 minutes to about 30 seconds. Migration was simple. Windows experience went from 6.9 to 7.9 in Windows 7. Works well with host and 3 VM's and numerous apps open simultaneously with room to spare.

are there any issues cloning a 7200rpm hard drive to this solid state samsung drive using acronis?

Not familiar with Acronis, haven't used it in over 10 years, but the Samsung Migration software should work fine for the cloning. I moved/cloned my striped raid volume (2 disks) to this single SSD with no problems using the Samsung supplied software. If you are intent on using Acronis, I would consult them for compatibility issues.
