This movie should have won Best Picture. Inarritu's lousy movie last year, Birdman, did win, so you take the opinion of the academy with a grain of salt. At least, Leonardo DiCaprio did win for Best Actor. A must see.

Great adaptation of a true maritime event

This movie definitely gave a much fuller and more complete recounting of a true event that was only fictionalized from the original book, Moby Dick by Herman Melville. Well acted with stunning visual effects, this movie far surpassed the version with Gregory Peck.

Good movie about 2008 financial crisis

Although the movie moved rather haphazardly and at random with the specifics of the time the events occurred, it did make for an interesting story, albeit fictional at times. If the script had been somewhat less rushed and edited into a slower pace with more emphasis on plot and character development, it could have been a far better movie than it was.

Best movie that adhered to Jon Krakauer's book
