Quality you expect from HP with one catch

.....this printer goes to sleep. Yes, sleep is a good thing except when you want it to be on all the time for Google Cloud Print or HP email printing. There's no setting to disable sleep so the max is 8 hours and HP says that as long as a port is active but I haven't quite figured out what that means because I'll come home some days and it's completely off and other times it's still on and my Google Cloud Print document did print. Read other reviewers experiences and search the web for "Sleep Settings" for this particular printer.
I've come to the realization that aside from this sleep/power saving/off setting, the printer is a 5 star printer. It prints and scans exactly how I want and expect, the HP scan app for iOS works great with this printer and did I mention, it does do Google Cloud Print. You'll need to follow HP's instructions as it wasn't originally a cloud print ready printer but it works now.

I already own the OnHub by Google and the Google WiFi app is easy to use and administer so I thought this would be just as a easy to setup and administer. I was correct! Keep in mind you do need to have it tied to a google.com (or gmail) account and you can share administrator rights to other "managers" (aka family members). It is easy to add additional Wifi Access Points to increase the mesh network and reliability is good. I gave it 4 stars because it has only has one ethernet port to add another device (such as a wired desktop or Philips Hue base) and the customization of how to do port mapping or dedicated DHCP IP to specific devices is non-existent (I haven't found it).. Overall for a mesh network to be used in a house full of WiFi devices with options to create guest networks and user access (when do disable devices like kids iPads), this is a great product. The workaround for more ports would be to get a separate network switch.

Considering all of the options for color ink jet printers that have multifunction capability in the $100 or less price range, this one was a great option. I trust HP and this was the middle option (there's one step less and one step more) and the difference was either on paper capacity or something else. The HP ink subscription program seemed attractive but read carefully as it's like a cell phone plan and when you go over your "pages" you end up paying more. It's not a a flat fee, pay as you go system so I stuck to just buying when I need. Overall the quality and speed is good. Can't speak to the scanning features yet as I rarely use the scanner however if you just need to print Office-type documents, this is great.

Good Quality for Home Office

I needed a monitor for my home office (connected to a MacBook Pro and Surface Pro 3). This monitor is a no frills monitor that suits that purpose. Aesthetically it matched the decor and computers and was reasonable in cost. I've owned several Dell monitors and they've never let me down. I say Good Quality because it's not bad nor excellent (excellent would be something with lots of extra features like sound, color calibration tools, etc). It's truly a plug and play monitor and the resolution (both native/recommended) and others display text crisp from both laptops.
