I have been trusting and using Canon printers for decades but my last reliable printer, iP 6700D died a month ago so went out researching for another photo printer that can print on DVDs as well. After a lot of research settled on the Canon TS9020. Best Buy had the best price so bought one. The first one stopped working after about 10 days with an error message that said to look for jammed paper or something. There was no such problem so eventually had to exchange it for a new one because the message will not go away. This new one started aborting printing in the middle of a page and said printer is offline. Lost paper and ink. Ethernet connection not far from the printer, not WiFi. Then it was giving 'streaks' on DVDs. Not color streak but as if something is rubbing against the glossy surface of the disc while printing and creating the dull lines as streaks. On top of all that the machine constantly 'nags' ('remove disc, register the paper, push the tray in, pull the tray out'). When you pull the DVD tray out it does not detect that you already did that, you must press OK every time. Then there is the 'preening' that is worrisome as it may be consuming ink. Speaking of ink, most of the tanks bottomed after about 10 sheets and DVDs, no more than 15 for sure! New ink that came with the printer! The construction is mostly plastic and with so many motorized and manual moving parts (trays lids, covers) I was not sure what kind of life this would have. The iP6700D must have lasted me well over 5 years while being used not so sparingly. Returned this today and am very upset by the loss of productivity and the time lost because of this machine. But the Best Buy employ was very understanding. I wanted to get the 7720 but none in stock so am going to order online. I am hoping that it is built better and the software inside is not so irksome. Some of the Canon printers I've owned include S900, iP4000, iP4500 and Pro-100 none of which was so annoying and troublesome. In the name of making it compact they have made the TS9020 very fragile and, did I mention annoying?

I wanted to use a camcorder with remote control app so that I can control the exposure and the Panasonic HC-VX870 does the job. I previously tried the Sony AX53 and it defaults to full auto while in remote mode and messes up the video including the white balance switching to auto. The VX870 retains all my settings. Very useful. I had ignored Panasonic since a few bad experiences decades ago and has been a Sony user ever since. Now I am discovering Panny again :)
