First, I'm just another consumer who bought one of these, not a Best Buy person. I'd recommend a component-swap to diagnose further. Does it work with other bluetooth devices, like your cell phone? If so, then it is the connectivity. If not, the device is bad. Mine seems to work without the issue you describe, but I am not using Alexa. Bluetooth is usually only good for 25-30 ft. unobstructed, so make sure there is line of sight between the devices, or if there are walls, cabinets, and especially if there is a lot of metal, then the two devices are going to have to be closer. My general rule of thumb, is to use wired connections if at all possible, because wireless is subject to interference. Best of Luck!
