Upgrade your home theater with this 5.1-channel SVS surround sound system. Consisting of two main speakers, two surrounds, a center channel and a 1000W subwoofer, this setup provides a fully immersive listening experience. The compact size of this SVS surround sound system is ideal for any home theater space, large or small.
My wife and I purchased a ski condo and wanted to install a modest theater system in it. As the condo is relatively small and we have neighbors we wanted a system that was unobtrusive, sounded good, and has excellent bass without excessive or extremely low output that would disturb anyone.
I'd auditioned various small theater packages from Energy and Definitive Technology...Bose (never seriously considered). They were good but not quite what I was looking for. I have a large SVS sub in our main theater system at home so I'm familiar with their sound quality. As the SVS system was not available for audition in store I ordered the system feeling confidant in my prior experience with the brand and having read many reviews of the package.
Boy am I glad I ordered this system! It sounds absolutely amazing! For the price, it would be very difficult to beat, RSL has a system now that would likely be a strong contender but it wasn't available at the time. The satellites are very accurate and airy speakers. I've played with altering compression rates of music played through them and can definitely tell a large difference between lossless and compressed files. If sound quality is important to you, these speakers can be revealing. They aren't going to be on the same level of revealing like my hybrid planars in my 2 channel system but they aren't intended to be.
Due to the satellite size they obviously don't produce much bass but they blend seamlessly with the subwoofer. The sub is extremely tight and punchy, it can produce some menacing bass for as small as it is. It doesn't kick me in the chest and kill incandescent filaments like my main sub at home (I switched to LED) but it does its intended job in a small space perfectly.
The system had my wife jump in the first movie we watched on the system. There was a gunshot and she thought it sounded real. I couldn't be any happier with this system, truly an outstanding value. There are several new satellite speakers I'd consider now that weren't all available [or available to me] at the time. RSL now has two series of speakers, both worth consideration, one of which is similarly priced to SVS. The other I'd strongly consider would be Ascend Luna's but just a pair of them costs more than the entire SVS 5.1 package. For my needs, this system is perfect.
