One of the best disaster films in recent years comes home in an pristine HD transfer that makes for an excellent demo experience. Stellar video quality is matched with a Dolby Atmos track that makes the best of what's possible in a home theater today. A great package along with the included DVD and HD digital copy.
For the first time, Michael Mann's Ali comes to blu-ray. It includes one new special feature and the director's cut of the film. Note: the director's cut is a substantial revision adding and removing scenes from the theatrical cut. Included as well is a Ultraviolet code for the theatrical version of the film. The quality of the video is mixed with some scenes benefiting greatly from 1080p while other appear soft. Some of this is due to the use of footage from early digital cameras mixed in with film. Overall, this is a good disc that may have a better transfer in the future but as of now is good enough for the right price.
The disc included is the same as previous Sony releases and its a good transfer that could use a 4k update in the future. Regardless, you are buying it for the case and it's one of the better designed ones out there.
