For some of us folks that have been playing video games for some while now (Nintendo was my first console btw) can appreciate when a game comes out and tries something different, and in this case something old school. This game is fantastic in that regard. It plays like well done platformer, which i haven't played since Jack and Daxter. I didn't think this game would have that as its primary play style at first. Don't get me wrong, the combat is also very enjoyable, swapping between different colored ammo to match the enemy your fighting, while commanding your A.I. companion what to do is quite satisfying. I started really liking this game after discovering some of its secret dungeons, and how fun/challenging it was completing them and unlocking rare parts for your partner. It's sad how people are so focused on graphics now and days that it will get judged just by that immediately. Graphics help, but don't make the game. It's not perfect by any means (Loading times are a little much, some Frame drops in intense battles) but for me it is, especially now when games are so focused on Hollywood movie story telling, saturated with FPSs, and disappointing hype ( *cough* No Mans Sky, Destiny *cough* to name a few) I just want a game that is fun to play, and Recore is just that. I don't care if the story isn't thought provoking or life changing, it's not what I look for in a video game. Don't let mainstream reviews deter you from trying it, you might actually like it if you try it. I own the collectors edition of Recore, and have a review of it as well.

It's a fun, meaty Action RPG with a surprisingly decent story. Fantastic music as well. It's english dub only, but voices are quite good and fits each character's personality perfectly. The eccentric Emil is a good example of great english voice acting. The game is very long, about 30 to 40 hours story, and then you have end game, which will give you over 100 hours of gameplay, easily.
My only gripe is the audio quality for cutscenes took a hit during the localization process, it sounds like they recorded the cutscene at fhe bottom of a well. Hopefully BandaiNamco will patch it.

I don't agree with the bad reviews. I like this game very much because it has official licenses and liveries, Ferrari cars and amazing replay cameras. Obviously, content is not as extensive as Project Cars, GT or Forza, but the feeling you get while driving with a steering wheel is unbelievable. Upcoming Porsche DLC and tracks like Monza with the oval makes it unique. I have extensively played Project Cars on the PS4 and I was never satisfied with realism, unlicensed content and awful replays. AC doesn't have weather effects but simulation is superb. I wouldn't recommend the game if you are looking for an arcade game or playing with the DS4 controller, though. But if you are a motorsport fan and you have a wheel, go for it without thinking it.
I don't play online because I don't like players that just want to crash or professional gamers that are too hard to beat; in my case, AI in this game is great. Moderate difficulty in AC is like 85% in Project Cars.

Gameplay is engaging and chaotic fun. The bullet patterns are loyal to the original series which fans will greatly appreciate.
There is a VS mode where you can play with another person, against a computer or online, which is extremely fun. The gameplay only has one problem, especially for the fans of the original series; the hitboxes aren't clear and are hard to understand in this game. However, the game is balanced enough (it may even be a little too easy for veterans). This *may* only pose problems in competitive matches (there is a rank system).

The game visually looks nice with the exception of the backgrounds during the fights -- they are bland. For most part, the game runs at a gorgeous 60 fps, with slight dips during extremely chaotic events (spellcards). Its soundtrack features the themes of the select characters, and they sound nice for the most part (Utsuho's theme could have been much better, where was the melody? D:).
Overall, this is a great entry for new comers and long-time fans alike. It carries the spirit of the original series quite well; from gameplay, music and the story. For newcomers, the story is just silly throughout and is not meant to be taken series like the originals.

If you enjoyed Trails of Cold Steel 1, you will definitely enjoy this one too. Game play is still fun with more balanced Arts, so you don't have to use Crafts all the time. Music is even better than first one.
Story itself is okay, but there are tons of jargon and plots that you really need to play "every" previous games to understand them. You can play Trails in the Sky FC and SC on PC. Unfortunately, if you do not speak Japanese, Chinese, or Korean, you cannot play Trails of Zero and Azure, which have extremely important story-line that relates Erebonia arc.

Great fighting game! Has legacy controller support, all the goofy snk engrish you love, and a great line up of new/old characters. Has a simple 1 combo system for those trying to learn fighting game fubdamentals, as well as an extensive movement system and cancels for the more experienced players. Just make sure you're in it for the gameplay because the story is the same old arcade style, with a few short cutscenes inbetween.
