Nearly 14 years after the original series ended, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson return as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully for a six-episode run of the hit sci-fi series. The duo is back investigating strange cases such as UFO sightings, alien abductions and all things paranormal. Mulder, of course, is still a strong believer in the paranormal world, while Scully, a medical doctor, is a natural skeptic who provides a counterbalance to her partner's faithful approach. This multi-disc set includes episode commentaries, a behind-the-scenes look at The Event Series, a gag reel, and a compilation of the most memorable Monster of the Week moments.
The episodes in this "event series" are a mixed bag as far as quality. But there is enough good here for me to recommend this to any fan of the original X-Files TV series.
The third season of HBO's Game of Thrones (based on the novels of George R.R. Martin) continues to follow the War of the Five Kings on its deadly path as Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) licks his wounds after a humiliating defeat and Robb Stark (Richard Madden) pushes for a risky offensive against the Lannisters. Meanwhile, Joffrey plans to marry Margaery (Natalie Dormer), Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) works to liberate a city whose economy is built on slavery, and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) finds his undercover mission complicated when he falls in love with a woman from the tribe living beyond the wall.
Based on the novels of George R.R. Martin, the second season of HBO's Game of Thrones continues to follow kings, queens, lords, ladies, thieves, liars, and fearsome wild tribes as they battle man and beast alike in all manner of harsh landscapes to gain and keep power for their respective families.
Looking at High Country versus their Age of Winters debut? This is a huge change for The Sword. But not so much from their retro metal Sabbath sound of Apocryphon. High Country is a lot more psychdelia and rock. Maybe a little ZZ Top, Sabbath, and Uriah Heep sound. Different, but I still love it.
I've given this album a handful of listens to this point, and I just don't like it as much as Goliath. So if you're new to the band, check out their first album. Some good tunes on Take it Like a Man, but overall, not as memorable.
You can't help but enjoy this live CD, because it's a band that is just having fun on stage. Great set list, with solo Hagar, Montrose, Van Hagar, and Zeppelin. Only wish like many other live sets, that they would have bundled the CD with a DVD or Blu-ray.
I really feel that this was the Stones at their peak,1971. So I'm very excited to have this CD/DVD set. Get up close and personal with the band recording a TV special in front of a small audience. I'm pleased at the video quality, it is superb. Highly recommended!
