If you get an intermittent picture on remote TV, can you adjust the receiver to improve reception or do I have a bad transmitter or receiver ?
it is line of site, preferably with out obstructions in the way (metallic). You should align the front of the units towards each other flat and similar height.

Are you able to turn the channels on the receiving tv?
We hooked up this system - but we cannot turn the channel on the receiving tv. Is this how it is supposed to work? We understood it would control everything on the receiver.

Is there a signal repeater?
this is not a repeater, but a hdmi extender (wireless). Wilson makes the repeaters for telephone.
