worth the price maybe

The battery is too new for me to say how good it is. I got this battery and a generic. at about the same time. Both work ok now. Time will tell whether the Sony battery is worth the high price. I intend to re-review after seeing how the generic battery compares.

Anynoe know a reliable source of info about the self-discharge rate of camera batteries?

the lens is worth the price

Went to BestBuy to find out when I could see one of these. No stock, but I could buy and return if necessary. Glad I did it. The lens is worth the price. The image stabilization is much better than I expected. The autofocus is very busy. Even in single-shot mode it is active at power-on doing pre-focus. It analyzes the image to optimize focus. It is usually quick and usually right. Sometimes focus takes several seconds. Using the 600mm zoom to reach a distant mountain thru miles of haze, the autofocus struggles with the low contrast. There are a lot of focus modes. I still got a lot to learn about how to use them.
