I can't quite figure out what's wrong. The first time I plugged it in, the alarm went off. I turned off the backup and left it plugged in overnight to charge the battery. That seemed to fix it. No alarm for two weeks. Then suddenly the alarm goes off again. No power failure, no surges. Unplugged everything important, turned it off, charged it overnight. Turned it back on, and it's fine again for now. Haven't had time to complain to customer service...

Set up was easy. We had two laptops and two smartphones hooked up in about 30 minutes. There was a bit of a security scare in that we were getting into our cloud without passwords, but then we realized that this is a default setting: users sharing the wireless network have access. If you share your wifi password, you share access to your personal cloud when those users are on your wireless network. Outside the wireless network, access is protected (i.e. requiring log on credentials). We stored all our photos from many trips and can now access them from anywhere we have internet access. The smartphone app is fairly simple, no frills but easy to use. Overall, our first experience with a personal cloud with no worries of filling it up any time soon, like my stuffed dropbox and google drive.
