It has been several decades since my brother sold my original vinyl copy of this album. I've since forgiven him, but I had forgotten how good Ms. Ross and Ashford & Simpson were together. Every tune of the original eleven track release was on point. I like them on all, but I do have favorites: "Remember Me"; "And If You See Him"; "Didn't You Know (You'd Have To Cry Sometimes)?"; "A Simple Thing Like Cry"; "Did You Read The Morning Paper?"; "I'll Settle For You"; and my most favorite "All The Befores". The first time I heard it I felt it was the best song on the album and the musical direction I had hoped Ashford & Simpson would take Ms. Ross. I would play it over and over again disregarding the wear and tear on my original vinyl copy back in the early 1970's. This is an overlooked -should have been- classic song, that could stand up to anything being released by the Divas of today. The production, arrangement, and musical accompaniment to Diana's sensitive interpretation of the gut wrenching lyrics is superb (supreme). The instrumental outro is simply gorgeous! This could have been the beginning of a string of hits comparable to the string of hits by Dionne Warwick and Burt Bacharach & Hal David. Some bonus tracks that should not be overlooked are: "Baby I'll Come"; "Remember Me" Valerie Simpson demo vocal; and "Reach Out I'll Be There" alternate vocal. Both versions showcases Ashford & Simpson's producing talents to successfully reimagine a Holland-Dozier-Holland hit originally recorded by the Four Tops. I like the alternate vocal just a little bit more.

Difficult to watch without feeling personally involved. More of a drama action war movie. The fear and pain of the civilians and soldiers is heartfelt. The acting is great, direction brilliant, and production wonderful. The storytelling is not rushed which allowed me to get to know the soldiers and civilians involved and the internal conflicts they faced. A different story of World War II narrated by an Estonian Soldier. A World War II movie as good as some of the best Hollywood World War II movies. This is a must have for any WW II film collector. Plus the bonus short film is unforgetable!

A billion dollar scam pitting scammer against scammer. High stakes scamming where the best schemer takes all. Hard choices have to be made and huge gambles are taken. Someone must champion the cause of the innocent victims who just want their money back. This film is rather long but it's all in the con game, which is fun to watch as the masters try to outsmart each other. Great action sequences, location shooting and a story line that moves like a game of chess. Who will emerge as the greatest chess master? P.S.: Don't miss the humorous scene at the beginning of the first roll of end credits and after the completion of the first roll of end credits.

Missed Inner City Boy Group

Brighter Side of Darkness had a pure, untainted, unmistakable Chicago urban sound. Although the sound was polished with lush horn and string arrangements, it still retained a deep soulfulness and sincerity in vocals, and innocence in lyrical content. These are high school love songs delivered without that sugary pop feel. But, the record buying public (myself included) in the early 1970's had already developed a strong "Love Jones" for another inner city boy group, originally from Gary, that moved to the studios of Detroit. I am so glad that this hard to find album has been released on CD. No longer do I have to miss the other side of of urban boy groups' soul singing.

Good songs, good rhythm, good harmony, good soloists, good dance tracks, good session musicians, good producing and arranging, good fashionable clothes, and good looks. This male trio had all that, but so did several other groups in the mid 1980's. In spite of that, this reissue will have you on your feet dancing from the first track to the last track. Reminds me of the days when it was so easy to just groove to the good music playing.

The "Crimson Pig" is a film about an extraordinary pig. The story works so well that I forgot about the lead character being a pig. I thought that watching a talking, bounty hunting, flying pig would interfere with my enjoyment of the movie. It did not! The story is uncomplicated with enough sophistication to keep adults entertained. This is an animated film that allows grownups to escape from the harsh realities of life for about an hour an a half into a wonderful imaginary world. After watching "Porco Rosso" I felt relaxed with increased optimism that each one of us can do something, big or small to improve this life for all of us. Once again Studio Ghibli delivers a visually gorgeous animated film with a nice story.
