Tom Cruise has an Oscar winning performance in this heart pounding performance. War injuries look very realistic. Great acting, and well paced storyline makes this one of my top watches this year!
What's great about it: Great acting, great plot!!
What's not so great: Nothing!

Great acting, plot, and "costume" design. After you have seen it, you'll agree! THis movie will have you squirming and jumping out of your seat. You have to get this movie!!!! Starts out like it may just be a "Chick Flick", but that is only to set you up for the carnage that will follow in the cave. I'll watch this again in a few months, say Halloween, it's that good!!

This movie keeps you guessing all the way to the end with very good acting and a plot that takes many different twists. Will everyone live, or will all die. Get this movie and enjoy the water, again!

Budgeted at a mere 130,000 dollars, Open Water is the independent success story of 2004, and this DVD will not only show you how the filmmakers did it, but how you can do it as well. Presentation should always be the number-one key to releasing films on DVD, and this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen edition, for the most part, does not disappoint. The problem for most home-theater enthusiasts will simply be that the type of digital video used here tends to create a less than clear picture some of the time. The upside is that the colors are indeed vibrant; just don't be surprised when you see obvious pixilation in some shots. The film's sound, however, is another story altogether -- one that boasts a completely absorbing experience through not only a 6.1 DTS ES track, but a 5.1 Dolby Digital EX track and a Dolby Digital 2.0 one as well. The disc has two audio commentaries, the first with the husband and wife filmmaking team and the other with the two stars, Blanchard Ryan and Daniel Travis. Both tracks provide tons of information and are a nice compliment to the other extras, starting with the "Calm Before the Storm: The Making of Open Water" featurette. Clocking in at 15 minutes, this behind-the-scenes clip is where you really get the nuts and bolts of how this entrepreneurial couple set out to make this indie feature themselves, and it's every bit as interesting as it would seem. From researching and then shopping for cameras online to home editing on a personal computer, the story of Open Water is almost as interesting as the feature itself. Also included is "The Indie Essentials: A Filmmakers Guide to Gearing Up for a Profitable Movie" featurette, which briefly discusses Lions Gate and their history of acquiring smaller films for higher profit. Add in the theatrical trailer plus seven deleted scenes (including a chilling alternate opening), as well as some on-location footage from the shoot, and that, in a nutshell, wraps up the DVD. This release is recommended for fans of the film and anyone else looking to get into the independent film world.

What more can you say about your worst dream of being left behind by the diving boat in the open ocean, other than trying to survive and not being eaten by SHARKS. This movie will give you chill bumps! And what an ending!
What's great about it: If you want to put a chill up and down your spine, then get this movie!

The BEST Movie of a GENERATION! SPECTACULAR!

A FIRST of its KIND. BRILLIANT PLOT and CINEMATOGRAPHY!! I have had a copy of this ONE OF A KIND MOVIE for years. But you have to see it on DVD with home theater with your new 1080 P TV. This film has the most meticulousy shot space sceens. Way better than anything that Star Trek was doing filming the weekly TV show at the same time.
The plot pits MAN on an interstellar journey to a Monolith, with a computer,HAL ,in charge of running the life support and the ship, when HAL's Artificial Intelligence trys to take over. Was it the Monolith affecting HAL, or is its AI just acting bad? You have to get this movie in DVD or Blu-ray and sit in AWE at how really good this movie still is!

A good western movie,

This movie plays on the two sides of the coin that can be the human experience, one side good, the other not. A young man and his gorgeous wife both become entwined with the namesake of the movie,Melquiades Estrada. The boredome for the small town she feels, coupled with the job frustration the he feels, throws them both together with Tommy Lee Jones character who is best friends with Melquiades Estrada. The saga plays out in a rugged US bordertown, and ends with a burial in Mexico. Who's? Get the movie and find out!
What's great about it: Nice to have a change to a western once in a while.
What's not so great: Nothing.

Third best of the trilogy. Well worth watching.

This is the third best of the trilogy. A little too dark in content, and not enough laughs, but you must see this one as you will enjoy the third "Last Crusade" even more. My 16 year old had seen Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and commented that she had never see any of the original trilogy. We promptly got the 3 DVD's and watched them in sequence. It was a real treat as we hadn't seen them in years.
What's great about it: It's Indiana Jones!!
What's not so great: Third besyt of trilogy.
