My dishwasher was getting old and it needed repairs. We saw where we could get a new Samsung for about $450. Compare that with the difference between spending over a $100 fixing it and it didn't sound like a bad idea. Then the fun began: We purchased the Samsung and then found out if would be $140 to get it installed. We spend another $130 on the 4 year extended warranty. Then we are told the we need a plumbing and an electrical permit by the city of Muskego. Tack on another $130 and now that $450 dishwasher is over $900 when you include tax too. Then the installers came and would not install it because we did not have a electrical plug-in under the sink. The old dishwasher was wire directly into the circuit. Having an electrician come out would have cost another $200 or $300. Now that $450 dishwasher was a whopping $1200. We finally came to our senses and told Best Buy that we did not want the dishwasher and we going to fix the old one.
What's great about it: I have had good luck with Samsung products
What's not so great: Cost way more than expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Samsung 4.0 Cu. Ft. 9 Cycle High-Efficiency Top-Loading Washer: This quiet, top-loading washer is great for homes where the laundry room is near bedrooms. Easy on the back and knees, the top-load opening is easy to load and unload from a standing position. Get a clean look in a white finish.

My old washer was a GE washer that broke down after 4 years. The replacement part was so expensive, it didn't make sense to fix it. So we made a decision to get a new one. Our research led us to believe that the LGs and Samsung were the best. So we made a decision to go with a LG. With the LG, my wife went through 3 weeks of total frustration. The machine had sensors that constantly stopped the machine and sent out the message "Out of Balance". It was not just us, a service man came out twice and couldn't get it to work right. After 3 weeks we replaced it with this Samsung model. So far, we have had no problems whatsoever with the Samsung. Kind of what you would expect with a new purchase. I give Best Buy a lot of credit. They have a 1 month satisfaction guarantee where they will pay for the pickup and re-delivery of a new item. We were so very happy with that. I have never been one to purchase the extended warranties, but in this case we did. I think the replacement parts on these new machines are prohibitive. Maybe that is where these companies make their profit now-a-days. With this warranty, I have piece of mind for 5 years. If it breaks down after that, I will throw it away rather that pay 4 or 5 hundred dollars for a replacement part.
What's great about it: It works and does a great job
What's not so great: I am totally happy so far
I would recommend this to a friend!

Big Disappointment

Verified Purchase:Yes
We heard a lot of good things about LG electronics and appliances, so we gave it a try and bought an LG washing machine. We were very disappointed. The washer has sensors that shut down the machine if it senses the load is out of balance. This machine went out of balance all the time (it was balanced with a level, so the machine was level), it would either shutdown or try to balance the load automatically by adding water. So, the cycle would run for hours. How is that for saving water and electricity. We tried to get help from LG Service and the person at the other end did not appear to have ever owned a washing machine. She would say that we needed to do all one type of cloth in an individual load. For example, only do denims together, all towels together, or the machine would get out of balance. The LG service man also paid us a couple of visits, but could not solve the problem. After 3 weeks of total frustration we contacted Best Buy and let them know we were not satisfied. We went out on the sales floor and picked out a Samsung for a replacement. Best Buy, to their credit picked up the LG machine and delivered the new Samsung. Pickup and delivery were free. We are very happy with Best Buy and we are very happy with our new Samsung washing machine. It has not gone out of balance once. We have had the Samsung for a month now and it has not given us any trouble at all; kind of what you would expect when you buy a new washing machine.
What's great about it: Very nice looking
What's not so great: It did not work as expected
