I love Seagate hard drives, they have never let me down and are usually pretty affordable. I broke open the case and removed the hard drive to use it to replace the 1TB factory hard drive that came with my PS4 Pro. I wouldn't recommend buying a external drive and breakig the case open unless you know what your are doing though (it is not that difficult). The only reason I did it was bevause the external 2TB was cheaper that a internal 2TB because it was on sale.

Will this work by its self just like a camera or is it just for ps vr.
It'll work by itself. I got it to store and charge my PS4 controller and my Move controllers. I am still waiting on the stores to get more stock of the PS VR in, but it is a great way to store your controllers and charge them without using your USB ports on your console.

can I hook up my cable contour box and a bluray player to this device my tv only has one hdmi connection
If I understand your question right, this won't help. What I think you would need is something like a Y-cable HDMI, and to my knowledge they don't make these. There is a product NYKO makes called a a Console Selector that may work. You would basically plug your bluray and cable box into the HDMI IN ports on it, then the HDMI OUT would go to your TV. Then you can select which HDMI connection flows from the selector to your TV. Hope this helps you out, and if you go with the Console Selector, be careful because I have had two and on botj of them the micro usb power port has snapped off, so be cautious or try and find another brand.
